Sam's Star Island Yacht Club attracts a wide variety of people year-round with a passion for cruising and fishing. Fishermen and boaters come from all over the Island and up and down the East Coast to enjoy the excitement of seasonal sport fishing and access to an extensive fleet of charter boats. Sam's Star Island is also host to many fishing tournaments, cruising club rendezvous, and catered events, as well as Sam's Star Island’s own planned tournaments, including its renown annual shark tournament.
With its unique resemblance of a star floating on the ocean, Sam's Star Island Yacht Club has come a long way from the boat yard it once was. Sam Gershowitz and his team have turned it into a great destination for boaters on the East Coast. “It’s a beautiful place,” Gershowitz says with pride. “It’s a yacht club and a marina, and we cater to people here. It's a very comfortable place to hang around.”
No marina in the area offers more facilities and services. The Ship’s Store is one of the largest tackle shops with bait of every type, an expert staff, marine supplies including electrical, polishes and waxes, cleaning materials, marine safety equipment, boat batteries, collectors’ items, groceries, and a full repair service. Visitors can sit down for a casual breakfast, lunch and dinner at Star Island Grill, serving fresh locally caught seafood. Spend Saturday nights at Star Island Grill for live poolside music and dancing overlooking Lake Montauk and the ocean. With all it has to offer, Sam's Star Island Yacht Club is an inviting club and marina for all. We invite you to consider the possibilities at Sam's Star Island.
Always a great time at Sam’s Star Island!
We love it at Star island and look forward to go every year. Wonderful service! Food and store!
Great Marina! Really helpful staff. We had a minor engine problem, I mentioned it to the dockhand and he sent a mechanic right down. Had it fixed in no time.
The staff was nice and helpful. Having fuel at every dock slip was great. Food in the restaurant was pretty good. Showers and bathroom were decent (not Old Saybrook, but much better than the Oar). Very strong fishing boat presence on the docks. In a 25 knot easterly, the water was relatively calm and protected.
great place - easy to get in and out of... dock hand help was great... we didn't try the restaurant as we ended up eating at other places but overall, very satisfied...
Staff was very helpful and accommodating
Generally a nice place. Has a well appointed store and a causal restaurant for breakfast lunch and dinner. Two negatives I’d say. It’s very expensive at about $8/ ft. Store prices are similarly high. I paid $55 for a 25’ dock line I needed. Also with a lot of fishing boats, it can sometimes get a bit noisy by about 6:30 am so not great if you want to sleep a bit late. Sunday’s seems quite than other days.
Great location, service was outstanding. Will definitely be going back!
Awesome stay!! Staff and slips are amazing:)
John & the rest of the staff at Star Island are always first rate, thanks again !
It is a nice marina, not $252 nice. There were 4 other marinas nearby at have the cost. It is on an island so it is a mile and a half walk to the restaurants and bars. The showers while clean were claustrophobic super small shower and dressing area. Pool closed at 6pm.
