Report Review

Our slip was booked for 20/18/25. As we were going to be arriving later in the afternoon, I called to advise them. Thank God I did, as I was told they were closing early at 3 pm. Otherwise upon arrival everyone would be gone and we would not have a slip assignment, or any other information (gate codes, wifi password, restroom locations, etc.) We were on our own getting in the slip, getting shore power, etc. We were also told the gas dock was closing at 3 pm, and not reopening until 8:30 am the 19th, necessitating waiting until then to return. On the 19th we went to the gas dock, and nobody was there, necessitating circling around 3 times, before seeing a sign on the office to the effect of ‘we’ll be back’. Finally a power boater docked and called the office, and was told that someone would be there shortly. Eventually someone arrived, to tell me that where I was tied up was not near the diesel pumps, which necessitated going around a 4th time before getting to the correct pumps. It was shortly after 9 am by the time we fueled up and cast off. From the time we tied up in our slip until we left the gas dock there was no interaction with any SafeHarbor personnel (aside from the fuel dock operator) After we left, sometime around 9:15 am I received a text via Dockwa from SafeHarbor asking ‘did you ever arrive?’. In the future I would think someone would contact us (via email, text or call) to advise us that the marina was closing early, and to contact them regarding slip assignment, etc. Had we not called prior to 3 pm on the 18th we would have had no information whatsoever, and there would’ve been no one to contact. I guess we would’ve had to just take any open slip, and sort out the reservation in the morning… Conversly anyone else could’ve taken a slip and then left before 8:30 on the 19th without anyone knowing. Between having to flop around getting in, and the frustration of circling around and delaying our departure, our experience was less than ideal.
