Report Review

We’ve been sailing for 2 months and had fantastic experiences at every marina we’ve booked through Dockwa except KDM. This marina is wildly unsafe and tattered. The owner attempted a very sketchy maneuver by allowing another boat to arrive late in the evening and share our slip on our hip (we knew nothing about the other boat or operator). The dock boards are falling off, exposing nails and sharp edges. The docks are extremely short and narrow to begin with. The pilings have eroded seemingly from lack of maintenance and many boats running into them. There are sharp wood edges on the pilings that will puncture fenders if a wake comes through and pushes upward or downward, not to mention the sharp sea growth that seems to have not been cleaned in months. The wake is terrible in that zone. There is no security between the boats and the street. The “Dockmaster” didn’t know the difference between port and starboard and seemed to be guessing operationally. The list goes on! It was my most wild shocking marina experience ever (and I travel on the boat half the year). Icing on the cake: there was a jetski on a floating dock literally floating into our slip as we arrived. But once you dodge the jetskis and the random center consoles which the management likes to add to your slip, don’t worry, you’ll be stuck in there forever because only some of the slips are deep. Our transducer was showing less than 1 foot below props at low tide. The electrical posts looked like toy versions of actual electrical amenities found at normal marinas. With my mother onboard for the trip, my crew and I determined it just wasn’t safe and casted off for a new marina (Miami Beach Marina), which was a delight and ultimately $180 cheaper. They even offered a separate dock for our tender so we didn’t have to put it on our stern for the night. To anyone traveling in the area: just go to a safer marina and protect your boat. KDM wasn’t worth it. The owner of KDM refuses to issue a refund still.
