Report Review

Several years back Eldean Shipyards charged me thousands of dollars for unauthorized work. It was done without a contract while my boat was in storage. They admitted it was their mistake but also threatened to not relaunch the boat unless I paid. Part of the unauthorized work was refinishing the cap rail. (They originally tried to charge me $8400 for this part alone.) We settled for about half of that. Three months later the finish failed and exposed bare wood. By then I was heading to Florida. The rail had to be completely refinished in Florida for $3500. When asked, Matt Eldean indicated he would pay for the refinish. When I submitted the bill his lawyer required that I sign a release saying the original work was done under a contract, that I would remove all comments from the internet, and I would never mention this repair or even the unauthorized buffing and detailing of the hull. I refused and I have not been paid. I'm now $15,000 into this fiasco. These guys seem to treat their customers like there bankers. (See www.hollandsentinel.com/article/20100604/News/306049838 )
