Stonington Harbor |
The charming historic village of Stonington is a popular destination, especially for boaters. The Stonington Harbor Yacht Club, located at the mouth of Stonington Harbor offers an idyllic seaside setting with quick and easy access to Fishers and Long Island Sounds. From our docks, take a stroll to many historical sites dating back to the 18th century as well as a variety of restaurants and boutique shops. Dubois Beach, where you can experience the unique view of three different states from one spot while relaxing on the beach, is only a few steps away.
Out transient dockage is located on the western face of the marina boasting beautiful sunset views and easy tie-ups. Boats up to 8’ draft and 175’ LOA can be accommodated. Fuel and marine services are available within the harbor at Dodson’s Boat Yard.
As a guest of the Stonington Harbor Yacht Club, you have access to our shower facilities from 9am-5pm daily. WIFI is available in the clubhouse and on the terrace. You are welcome to enjoy our restaurant and bar where lunch and dinner are served in both our beautiful dining room and outside on the terrace.
Our location is ideal for taking in the local sites, visiting nearby attractions such as Mystic Seaport and the Watch Hill seaside community. It is also a convenient waypoint for those traveling to Block Island or Long Island.
Dockhands generally depart at 4:00 pm.

Great location, facilities, and service. We will be back.
We had a fantastic stay at the Stonington Yacht Club! The staff was super friendly and helpful (thank you Isabella and Christine!) and the facility was beautiful. We loved the town as well. We will be back!
A welcoming Yacht Club, excellent docks and club house. Delicious food and helpful, attentive staff
Great location, short walk to town where there are interesting shops. Nice dinner at Water Street Cafe.
We had another Great visit to Stonington Yacht Club. The communication with Isabella was excellent. We dined at the club and it was great our server took good care of us and the food was terrific. No doubt will be back in 2022!
Very clean showers, quiet marina, helpful staff
This is a very worthwhile stay on cruise of this area. The Yacht Club dock staff is very courteous & helpful, and the docks & facilities are good. The small town of Stonington is the reason to visit. This small town simply gushes with New England charm. The few blocks of commercial stores offer a fun (though limited) variety of things to poke your head into, and there's a few nice restaurants nestled among them. Be forewarned: Monday - the day we visited - most of the restaurants are closed. Happily, the Dog Watch Cafe (nestled in one of the marinas) had a VERY good lunch, along with a fair-priced wine list, including some nice rosé wine choices that we appreciated. The yacht club itself is a nice new building with very clean & new facilities. Note, though, that it is a bit of a walk away from the docks, up a short drive & across the street, and that it must be open in order to access rest rooms & showers. It opens at 8:30am weekdays, which might affect your departure plans, or overnight needs. Next time we're cruising through this area, the only reason we wouldn't stop here is if we wanted to explore another town nearby. Otherwise, it's a worthy stop.
Wonderful location, superb facilities, and very hospitable staff. We ate dinner at the Club restaurant and it was excellent. A perfect stay!
A great location with very friendly staff. A short walk to a variety of shops, restaurants and historic homes. For us it’s the halfway point between Newport and our home port in Essex. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We had a delightful stay in Stonington at the Stonington Harbor Yacht Club. We cam in during a miserable storm with very rough conditions and late. Yet Club members and staff cam to catch our lines and help us tie our boat up. We had dinner at the club and were delighted with our meal. We also were very happy to run into and join boating friends at dinner. The next days we enjoyed exploring Stonington and it restaurant, stores, beautiful parks and wonderful historic nomes.
Nice place…. Friendly staff
Very courteous, met us at the dock and helped w tying up. Also received a call earlier asking about our eta
Great club, fantastic food and professional service, water front and on land! Easy in and out…
Made a late reservation. Ursula was fantastic!
Very friendly and very nice organization
Easy side docking. Beautiful yacht club with a great restaurant and bar. Very friendly staff. Will definitely go again.
Great facilities, close to town, incredibly helpful staff… look forward to returning.
A great place to visit. Easy in and easy out with great staff and facilities.
Great place to stay the club is beautiful and the food there is great
Little bumpy at our slip. Great dinner at Water Street Cafe.
Great location and a floating dock to tie up to. Pretty much do it yourself docking and great showers, but of a hike. Friendly spot
Peace-full, lovely and accommodating.
I would definitely return. Tricia in office was very helpful. The free ice was a first for me! I wish the building was open after 4:30. No heads or showers!! Only 2 suggestions: -some dock pedestal lights not functioning makes tripping more likely -lack of trash barrel anywhere near docks, how come?
Great staff. Very nice Yacht Club
Loved the location. Staff was great and very helpful. Very disappointing internet access at the dock. In fact the cell signal was extremely weak as well at the dock. But that is not the Yacht Club's fault. Again, that outstanding location makes up for the minor inconvenience. I would definitely return again. Loved it!!!
as good as it gets
Lovely harbor. We were packed in on the floating dock, and the staff and other boaters were very helpful. SYC club house is beautiful, a bit of a walk from the docks but with laundry, heads and an excellent restaurant Very much enjoyed our dinner there. Stonington Borough is an easy walk with shops and restaurants for breakfast and lunch. The only reason this is not a 5 star review is the lack of wi-fi at the docks. Our phones had no signal and without wi-fi we had to walk up to the club to get weather updates. Stormy couple of days.
Love the location and we enjoyed being able to walk to Dog Watch for dinner. The SHYC staff was friendly and helpful, even offering free ice which was great. However, not having access to heads or showers between 5 pm and 9 am is unfortunate. Even so, we enjoyed our one night stay.
Stay was excellent and accommodating to our need to have easy access departing early morning unassisted. Dock master bathroom as great.
Easy in, easy out, great facilities, super nice people!
Great food. Docks are okay.
We always love our stay at Stonington. Beautiful and quiet with easy access to the quaint town. Excellent helpful staff. Wish the bathroom/shower facilities had a little easier access. Otherwise always great stay.
Marginal To zip support. Other than the young gent helping us tie up , there was no one around to provide shower codes , directions or the like. Rather weak
Beautiful club. Helpful people.
very nice town! also enjoyed Watch Hill
Lovely location with an attentive and charming dock staff - all in my favorite Connecticut town. 5 stars.
SHYC staff and facilities were perfect. The members were so hospitable! Great place to visit.
Beautiful club. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the club also. We will be back!
Great place. Very nice people. 👍👍
Good communications from the booking side of the YC. Quick walk to town for a bite was a plus. Could have used dock hands, we came in around 1430 Memorial Day Sunday and our assigned slip was too small. Thankfully the other boat owners were on boat their boats and moved to accommodate us. Not sure what we would have done if the boats were unoccupied.
Perfect. Easy in… Easy out…. Nice dock. Great town. Perfect
Good dockhands, nice town to walk around in. Easy navigation.
I gave SHYC a good rating as I have enjoyed their facilities before and they are excellent. But, alas, yesterday the boat developed engine problems and we didn't make it to Stonington. Was too late to cancel. I look forward to next year.
Easy in/out. Very nice face dock. Friendly and helpful staff and their dining room food exceeded expectations.
Side tie on a modern floating dock. Very welcoming staff. Nice harbor view. Close to shopping. Good food for lunch and dinner at the Club.
Wonderful time! Easy in easy out. Staff was very helpful. Nice and quiet very relaxing, just what we needed. Will definitely be back soon!
Beautiful views, nice staff Clean bathrooms
Enjoyed our stay for two nights. Staff are friendly and dockhand was helpful. Clean facilities. Enjoyed the restaurant and bar. Will definitely stay here again.
Fun town, non touristy restaurants, enjoyed dinner at the yacht club and members were engaging and fun- highly recommend!
Very quiet, clean and welcoming. Amazing sunset. Will be back soon.
easy docking, clean, quiet, a pleasant overnight. One 50 amp plug on the pedastal only gave 117v, not 220v. the other one gave 220v
SHYC is simply the best. Great facilities, restaurant, people are very helpful. The town is terrific too!
Quiet little YC with a very nice clubhouse, bar and restaurant., nice staff. Easy walking to the historic town, restaurants
Arrival directions were provided with reservation. We were assigned to the outer doc on any spot between or behind the existing boats. The power pedestal is too close for this set up...when incoming boats ignore the no wake rule. Walking to some beautiful areas, homes, beaches. Not much as far as dining (just the one at the facility) or provisioning. Not sure where the showers / restrooms were as we never saw any staff during our stay.
Beautiful night with no wind, bouy noise only impediment to good night sleep! Facilities open at 8:30, to bad not earlier but very clean.
One of our favorite marinas! Chris is a great help with docking! Will be sure to return.
We enjoyed staying here. It is a linear that handles only a few boats, there was a nice restaurant by the docks and the club had showers and its own restaurant a short walk away. Friendly dock hand and really a short walk to a quaint town top off the experience.
Stayed for one night on a day the Club was closed, so all we saw was the dock, which was quite adequate. Aside from high price, all was good.
Friendly and helpful staff. Quiet and pretty location. This was our second visit.
Great service and very attentive staff.
Great experience. All the staff was sincerely friendly. Chris, the dockmaster, was particularly helpful. I sail single-handed and he was very helpful getting me tied up. Even though the wide-open dock is easy to approach, with a gusty north wind it was nice to have help. And, he went out of his way to move boats around so I could stay an extra night.
It's a good stop over when heading East or West along the CT coast. Easy walk to town with many restaurants. There was a mixup on the shower/ice codes the next morning that was cleared up when staff arrived at 8:30. They gave us a discount for our troubles. This was nice of them. We would use this YC again.
Staff is always great
The dock available is very accessible and with good service for electric, water and everything needed. However, the bathrooms and showers are located a ten minute walk away. I was not given a map or tour, but in the morning when I needed the facilities, I followed a fellow boater across the green and into the garage of the club. I had been given the code when I first docked. (without any assistance as the number I had for the dock master went to the "restaurant") The other boater went into one of the shower/bathrooms, but the second one was locked even though its sign said "available". The door handles have a button lock and the prior occupant must have shut the door with the button depressed. This was very inconvenient as the other bathroom did not open for ten minutes. There was no-one around to ask for help, the phone number for the club went to the "restaurant" and all floors of the building were deserted with locked doors. So, in my experience, not a lot of staff assistance is available.
Another wonderful docking experience at the SHYC! And we were able to enjoy the dining room this year - highly recommend the bruschetta.
Very nice yacht club. Facilities are very good. Only negative was lack of dedicated dock staff.
There was no dockhand at the dock when we arrived. They called me at 10AM the morning of my arrival. They asked and I told them we would arrive at 3. We arrived at 3:07. Called 3 times, no response. Then there was a group of young teenagers swimming of the breakwater. They were in front of the dock when I was trying to dock. y came up the ladder on the dock and dove off the other end. After doing it at least 3 more times, I pointed out the NO SWIMMING sign. They stopped but started to swear at us from the breakwater until they left at 5:30. It was very disturbing in a beautiful setting!
There was a dock hand to help, wonderful folks at the yacht club, a nice shower. A great, picturesque town to walk through. We would go back.
Great dinner on the patio at SHYC, and Stonington is a lovely little village for walking around.
It was a pleasant overnight stop overall. Club is located just inside breakwater in Stonington Harbor. Somewhat less protected from prevailing SW winds than locations further into the harbor, but spacious outside transient slips quite easy to negotiate. Staff friendly & helpful.Clubhouse restaurant, normally open to overnight guests, was regrettably closed to us due to Covid policy, but they allowed me to use the bathrooms. Short walk to everything in Stonington Borough.
no staff present at all, dock and cast off with help of members on the dock, on the contrary of other locations that are COVID compliant and allow access to bathrooms/facilities , we had no access to anything beyond the dock!
Always a pleasure. Take-out dinner was great.
Great location and view. Very relaxing. We weren't allowed to utilize the SHYC club due to Covid. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. It did look like a very nice facility and bar/restaurant. We will be BACK!
Beautiful place! Very clean and staff very friendly. Will stay again.
Friendly staff from manager to front desk to dinning room to dock. Highly recommend a stay!
The staff is amazing one of the friendliest destinations on our voyage. The facilities are very clean and beautiful. Can’t say enough about the staff though!
Beautiful spot in a gorgeous harbor. Love it.
We stayed at SHYC twice on our way to and from Martha’s Vineyard. The dock was easy to access and well maintained. It was a perfect place for us from a convenience perspective. The clubhouse was a short walk from the dock, which was fine with us. The clubhouse is very new and the shower facilities were top notch. Really great. The restaurant and bar were welcoming, and the food was good. The service was a little slow, but that was ok with us. The dock is a few block walk to Stonington, which was a terrific little town. We had a great time and will definitely be back. Update for 2020: the staff helping on the dock were courteous but were not really dock staff. It was ok as we could handle the docking ourselves, but do not expect a pro dock staff this year. Seems like they are doing their best in the tough COVID-19 summer
Very nice and quite
Nice, helpful people. Very good stay and excellent location. Thanks!
Stayed once before a couple years ago. Had power issues then. Had power issues again during this stay, as did other boats we were traveling with. Have stayed at over 50 marinas with our current boat in the past couple years and only had issue at one other marina where they had a known electrical issue. Also, got shocked when turning off the breaker when we were departing. It was very humid so don't know if that played a role but wish the power issues would be fixed on the dock... the 50 amp connection looked rusty so corrosion inside the shore power pedestal may have played a role but switched to a completely different pedestal with twin 30 amps to 50 amp via an adapter. The breaker itself is what shocked me when I went to turn it off to disconnect.
Great stop off at Stonington Harbor Yacht Club. People were so friendly and helpful. Nice facilities and Stonington is such a quaint town with so much history. We highly recommend it.
Nice spot with easy access
The club's hospitality and facility was wonderful. We enjoyed three days visiting with friends and walking this friendly village. The club has limited transient dockage available but we highly recommend this location - plan ahead.
Could not access toilet/shower facilities after hours. Pass code did not work.
A wonderful place. Lovely facility. Great showers, laundry. perfect walk to fun places and the quiet village of Stonington. We will be back
Great location, easy in and out with nice facilities.
Excellent! Been here before as its always on out list.
The location is nice. Had trouble communicating with dock staff on the VHF prior to docking. There is power and water on the docks. Everyone is friendly Restaurant looked nice but could not get in due to private event.
Excellent staff and YC. However I think their Dockwa overview should mention that the YC is closed on Mondays. Other than that - a great spot, walk to town. Easy in and out from the Sound
Dockhands and associated employees great.... Yacht Club facilities are second to none...Great stay. View from dock great. Restaurants near by and great as well
Great staff, very accommodating
We were able to stay on the T Dock. Attendant was terrific and super helpful. The club is beautiful. We were given a tour by Diane (I think), a wonderful woman who works in the office. Showers were Great. Easy walk to beach, adorable town and great restaurants. Highly recommend.
Nice floating docks. Easy in and out. Warm welcome. Nice shower & laundry. Yacht Club has a great restaurant and bar. Highly recommend.
Very nice quiet club. Great bathroom and shower a short walk away.
Great time. Club was closed but you can request a passcode to enter to use bathroom and laundry. Beautiful town. Local restaurant are great
Yacht club was very accommodating and also prepared an excellent dinner for our yacht club
A very convenient along-side berth in Stonington. Just a bit bumpy during the night with a fresh SW wind. Showers clean but a good walk, not very large. Dock stgaff ran us by their car to get propane. VERY nice!
Very organized and great accommodation for showers and decking. Beautiful building with restaurant and bar and it’s location there serene Main Street.
Lovely location, nice facilities, friendly helpful staff!
Beautiful location and facilities - professional and friendly staff - an absolutely lovely destination!
Katie was very helpful taking the initiative to call me and offer recommendations for dinner. Had a great dinner at Water St cafe thanks to Katie! However, it was offseason and 3.50ft is too expensive. Could not even plug into the dock since all pedestals are 30amp and we need 50amp. So $3.50ft without electricity!
