Sheffield Harbor |
Located in Wilson Cove, and protected by Sheffield Island, Tavern Island, and Bell Island, Norwalk Yacht Club is a casual and family-oriented sailing club. Established in 1894, the Club is tucked inside Greens Ledge Light in a quiet cove featuring a small beach. There is beautiful kayaking and paddle boarding through the Norwalk Islands, Village Creek and Farm Creek. The Club mooring field accommodates sail and power boats of varying drafts. Club launch service runs from 8AM-11 PM seven days a week during commissioned season. Water and ice are available on the docks where there is about 7 feet at low tide. The deck provides picnic tables and grills and plenty of space to relax and enjoy the views. Showers and an air conditioned great room are available.
The launch brings visitors within an easy walk of the quaint town of Rowayton. Rowayton offers casual restaurants with good coffee, ice cream and sandwiches as well as more formal dining options, and access to provisions. Both Rowayton and historic SoNo are also easily accessible by cab. Hail the dock team on VHF channel 78A ,call us, or book directly through Dockwa.
Location a little choppy even with a NE wind. Yacht club and neighborhood beautiful and people very friendly. Launch service great and will drop you either side of harbor. Uber picks up passengers at Yacht club so local transportation is easy. 314 brewery great for beer , live music and pizza!
Excellent as always! Beautiful harbor, nice and helpful people. No bs. We are regulars and love every time.
The club answered our radio call immediately and showed us our mooring shortly thereafter. The launch driver was cheerful and accommodating. We enjoyed having a quiet evening and look forward to going there again.
Fantastic! Friendly, accommodating and very helpful. We loved shuttling back and forth between Rowayton and Wilson Point.
Launch service crew is really sharp, facilities super clean , very fair price on moorings, ten minute uber to Norwalk train station...
I recently had the pleasure of spending time at the Norwalk Yacht Club, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The club boasts an excellent location, offering beautiful views of the waterfront, which makes it a serene and inviting spot for both members and guests.
First, the reason for 4 stars is strictly personal and doesn’t reflect on this beautiful club. The facilities are great, the club is clean and well kept. There isn’t much to do, the club is surrounded by a neighborhood. It wasn’t for us, it may be good for you.
Professional launch operators and a lovely club house.
Very nice club. Fiendly and helpful staff. Close to town, short uber ride. Ice, water and fuel available.
Had a great night at NYC. Staff was amazing. Eduardo was super accommodating and even got us back to our boat after hours! Will be back.
We had planned on staying two nights because we have family that live around the corner on Bell island, but was taken back by the 70.00 mooring fee, it communicates to us that they do not really want transient boaters. I would understand at a destination
Our stay at Norwalk YC was very pleasant. The club amenities were top notch from the launch service to the playground! We will be back!
On a ball. Excellent launch service. Short walk to town pleasant stay
Nice club. Moorings we’re a bit exposed. We had a pretty bumpy night as a significant storm passed over.
A very family-oriented Yacht Club with a beautiful Clubhouse. Excellent launch staff that makes sure you're all setup with clean pendant from the mooring ball. No bar, and on our visit the staff could not sell ice or water to non-members. The mooring field could be a little rocky due to the powerboat traffic. Large, extremely clean showers are available. Grills are available for visiting yachtsmen. The membership made everyone feel very welcomed. Launch service offered to a neighboring Rowayton YC where you can find some very nice local restaurants withing 0.5 to 0.8 miles.
Friendly, and super attentive. Fair pricing. They greeted us at the field entrance with their launch boat and showed us to our mooring. Gorgeous setting and peaceful stay. Can’t wait to come back!
Amazing views. a little ruff during the day but the night was very peaceful..
Fantastic! Great job by all the staff to get us in and out. They don’t answer the phone so 68 is the best boat
Beautiful spot, friendly people. Great restaurants nearby. Don't pass by! Moorings are wonderful, the launch service is speedy. Great spot. We were here for one night, ended up loving it and staying three.
They do everything right, from sending a launch out to help us find our mooring ball, to the friendliness and responsiveness of the launch drivers, to the great facilities and the friendliness of the members. Best shower I’ve had in a while. They were also great in helping us find someone to repair our dinghy outboard, and local restaurant recommendations. We stayed here an extra day because we enjoyed the experience.
The launch drivers couldn't have been nicer or more accomodating! Lovely spot to stay - reasonably priced.
Wonderfully managed with delightful tender operators.
Quick launch service and the attendants were friendly. However, we overheard some criticism on the radio from whom I can only assume was the dockmaster. Evidently it was unacceptable to request a reservation 4 hours prior to arrival despite also radioing ahead as soon as we entered the harbor (their website mentions you can radio to request a mooring upon arrival anyway). Not sure what his problem was. I'm torn about the rating because the facilities are nice and the launch service speedy, but the harbor itself is horribly exposed. Others mention concerns with winds/waves from the south, but we somehow managed to roll all night despite northeasterly winds.
Great place. Excellent service. Definitely coming back
On a mooring for one night. Very accommodating. Enjoyed the view of the Norwalk Islands.
This is the second time we have stayed at Norwalk YC. We returned because we had such a great visit the first time. Even though this is no longer the "high season", they still had plenty of helpful staff. We got water at their dock - super easy. The NYC staff were again very friendly and responsive during the Dockwa reservation process. We extended our stay to 2 nights. The NYC facilities are very nice. Launch service was great - still running to 9 PM. The wind was very strong the second night (gusts to 30 kt) - out of the South and the mooring field was very exposed and rolly, but nothing NYC could do about that. We will definitely come back.
Very easy entrance with wide channel from Greens Ledge light. NYC was very cooperative shifting our arrival date. Happy to have a mooring at outside of field, so we didn'y have to search around. Harbor was quiet and peaceful. Launch service appeared to be very well-managed on a busy holiday weekend -- although we did not go ashore, so we can't comment on shore-side facilities.
Great club. Friendly people. Nice clubhouse. Nearby restaurants
Always very gracious and accommodating hosts. Members are very welcoming.
Fabulous stay at NYC! The launch staff were really helpful, great harbor for swimming and enjoying the water, and close to two great dining areas - SoNo and Rowayton. One of our new favorites spots. The harbor does get a bit rocky during busy holiday days - but it is worth it!
Nice harbor and facility. No restaurant or bar within easy walk, but friendly launch driver offered to drop me in Rowayton side of harbor
We arrived very late, so prior to arrival over the phone we got very good directions hot to find our mooring. Launching service was also very prompt and smooth.
Great service, prompt, friendly, clean, and welcoming!
The Club was extremely welcoming and helpful. The Club manager greeted us warmly and briefed us on Club events and invited us to enjoy their 125 anniversary event. The launch service an it’s crew were professional and fun. A very pleasant stay. We will be back!
Great little club that is clean, neat, and active on all important fronts. No food service. I come here yearly.
Courteous and friendly staff, wonderful club house, BBQs and tables to enjoy the view while eating
Loud party on boat on nearby mooring till 1AM... other than that friendly staff and clean mooring lines...
