Jackson Park Outer Harbor is located in the heart of Jackson Park just off 63rd Street Beach. The harbor is beautifully set within the park and its quiet temperament and friendly faces make it a relaxing part of the lakefront. Jackson Park Yacht Club calls the harbor home, and an old Coast Guard station stands watch over the western shore. With 192 slips, and mooring cans the harbor can accommodate boats from 25’-40’ in length.
Waste pump-out equipment is available on a no-charge basis. The Jackson Park Yacht Club offers a mast stepping/unstopping capability. The harbor monitors channel 9 and 16 and the switch to/working channel is 68.
Horrible. The mailing address listed on Dockwa simply doesn’t exist and more disappointing, they didn’t care to fix it when I informed the marina of this. The harbor has a massive uncharted sandbar where the chart shows nine feet. Of course you’d know about that from a phone call or radio call upon arrival to the marina staff. Sadly, I placed five phone calls over five hours to the marina to plan my arrival but all went unanswered, as did a multitude of radio calls on 68 and 16. Returning at night after dinner I was dismayed at a VERY boisterous party being thrown on the pier I had the misfortune of being assigned to. I was promised that it would be toned down as I returned to my boat. It was blasting until past midnight! Waking the next morning the party was thankfully gone, but the sailing school took it’s place and physically impacted my boat multiple times. I was never so pleased to depart a marina as when I watched Jackson Park Outer Harbor sink into the horizon. STAY AWAY.
One porta potty no water for showers or laundry. For 84/ night seemed high for no amenities. Advertised open till end of October.
Great staff and very helpful. Expensive but location is good. Easy in and out off the lake.
Great location (we were at an event at University of Chicago) clean washrooms, quick response. Downside,no restaurant or bar within walking distance.
Great sleepy little harbor. Draft max is 5’ in some places. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. Will go back would highly recommend.
Joe the harbor master could not have been more helpful or kind. He went out of his way to help us enter the harbor, which can be tricky. He guided us in by boat. He parked us near the bathrooms in a quiet spot and found a big enough spot for out 41 ft sailboat. Very friendly and accommodating. He also stayed late and kept the harbor office open until 7:30pm, 2 hours past closing time to make sure we arrived safely. Can’t say enough good things about Joe. Bathrooms weere very clean and the small yacht club where members were having a birthday party added a nice atmosphere.
Joe and crew were extra accommodating for our one night trip to Jackson Park. Cozy harbor with lots to do around the area.
