April 25, 2024 We were at a T end dock on Pier 5 Due to the lack of protection our sailboat and the two of us endured the worst night of our over 2,000 mile journey. We were constantly hit by waves pushing us into the dock. The noise was deafening to us, put unnecessary pressure on our boat. It was completely avoidable if care had been taken when assigning our dock. There were plenty of empty dock spaces we could have been assigned since it was so early in the season. I have some serious doubts about the dockmaster who was unaware, when we called for assistance, that there were 25 knot winds outside his window. The bathroom lights go out every 8 minutes which is clearly written however not helpful when in the shower and it becomes complete darkness. You have to walk out into the main area to get them to turn on. HUGE safety hazzard. All and all office staff was not helpful.
Great marina and all the employees who work there are very helpful Extremely clean rest rooms and the yard is also very organized The only thing I would ad to the yard is ,cameras. They should have cameras over looking the yard where the boats are parked but that's it a very relaxing and clean yard Great job guys and girls.
nice municipal harbor with plenty of moorings and slips. good launching ramp even for our sailboat. crane is available to haul out with good space for dry land boat storage.
Atlantic Highlands is our home port. Very good Harbor
Atlantic Highlands Marina has the widest launch ramp and tie up area that I ever used. Very helpful and friendly employees. Very EZ to launch or get your boat out of the water.
The only reason this gets two stars is convenient location. We did not use Dockwa & called them directly. They handled it promptly & even gave us the slip number. We later found out why we got the slip number at the same time. We were never able to reach them in person by either telephone or VHF again. When we entered the breakwater shortly after 2:30 PM, we attempted to raise them 3 times on VHF & call them twice to get better directions to the slips. No one ever answered. In talking with some people on our dock, we were told this is usually the case. Dock signage is almost nonexistent. We found our dock by process of elimination- very difficult in a deep keel sailboat & got her tied up without difficulty. We walked over to the office. It was closed with a sign that no one could enter due to COVID & to call. They were supposed to be open yet. Again however- no one answered & no way provided to leave a message. I finally found the security office & got a key ($10 deposit required) & was told location of restrooms and showers. The women’s is pretty clean and has private shower stalls with a dressing room. The men’s was filthy and disgusting! You must leave your clothes and valuables in a group dressing area. Facilities are nothing like advertised. Use this one only as a last resort, We’ll never use it again
I myself have not stayed here but know several people who have and it is a really nice place. It is a great location and an easy walk into town. From what I have heard there are several contractors in the area with a good reputation as this is a municipal marina. It has a great view and there is ferry service there if you are inclined to take a ride. Management is very nice and very professional.
