Approach

NOAA chart #13283 (click image to enlarge) and page 57 of the Region 2 Chart Kit show the approach to mouth of the Piscataqua River leading to Portsmouth, NH. A red 2.5-second flasher, whistle buoy “2KR” marks the entrance. Approximately three nm upriver is The Memorial Bridge, an elevator span, which opens on the half-hour and hour. A half-mile further up is the Sara Mildred Long Bridge, another elevator span, opening at 15 and 45 minutes past the hour. The previously available 36′ vertical clearance opening at the northern end of the Sara Long is now permanently unavailable due to the ongoing construction of a complete, new Sara Mildred Long Bridge. Completion of the new bridge is scheduled for September 2017. Both bridges monitor Ch 13. As the Piscataqua River makes a westerly bend, the General Sullivan Bridge, with a 52′ vertical clearance, spans the river. NOAA chart #13285 covers this section. A quarter mile west is Great Bay Marine. Please note that NOAA chart depths do not reflect recent dredging by our docks to at least six feet.

We were dockside, tied up to a concrete floating dock and it was very calm at night. Roslyn is a gem to work with as well as Tom Brown. We ate at Lexies Restaurant, outdoor and covered seating overlooking marina- Great food and drinks!

Best marina in NH. The management and staff are friendly and knowledgeable and when they don't know something they bring in the right expert. Other boaters are nice there too. They also have a real shop store with the supplies you need.
