Safe Harbor Wickford Cove is a hidden gem. An impending storm led us to seek out a well-protected marina in the Safe Harbor network. Wickford Cove is incredibly well protected. In addition it is a very friendly, well maintained marina in a very cute town. We were pleasantly surprised with the nice Main Street, historic homes, and interesting shopping. The marina has the nicest bathroom and shower facilities we’ve seen. Only negative was no one responding on the radio when we arrived on a Sunday early afternoon. But we had been sent a photo of our slip and we’re able to get in on our own without difficulty. Although a ways up the Bay, this town and marina are well winery a visit.
This is a superb marina. The location is perfect, staff are friendly, and the facilities are beautiful and clean. Tender service was reliable and convenient. We enjoyed our stay. Rated it 4 rather than 5 stars simply for the price. This may be the most expensive mooring in New England at $110 per night which seems inordinate. The location and easy access to town is what you pay for.
This is a great marina in a great location. Plymouth is a fun place to stop over with lots to do and see. The park right across from the marina was a particular highlight. The best part about this marina was the staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. We’d like to give a special shout out to Mike who was professional, helpful, and very friendly. Care should be taken approaching or leaving the marina if you are a sailboat. Water just off the end dock gets shallow very quickly. We saw a 50’ Jenneau run aground at low tide. Laundry facilities were super and free! A nice and unexpected bonus. We gave 4 stars rather than five due to the bathrooms which were small, dark, and not super clean. On several occasions the mens room’s single toilet was filthy.
Moorings are well placed and close to the town dock and it’s dinghy dock. On a busy July weekend all 8 moorings were open. The $35 price was reasonable, especially given that there are no additional facilities or services available. Mattapoisett is a pretty harbor. Lots of boats. It is quite large and would not offer great protection in a blow. Only downside is that there is really nothing in “town” at all. No services to speak of. One restaurant. For a quiet stopover en route to/from the Canal, this is a trap so able stopover. But for any on shore activity, would look elsewhere.
This is a fantastic marina, full service in every respect. Pool and bathroom facilities are excellent and the entire property is very neat, clean, and well maintained. The marina is 100% protected from all directions. This is the perfect place to pull in for protection from weather or to recharge for a few days. The only negative, which is no fault of the marina, is it’s location. There is no town and no other points of interest within walking distance. There entire area is very industrial, with abandoned tank farms and very large, working boat yards. All in all, great marina, not much to do off the boat.
Wet friendly, low key club with moorings and free tender service. Perfect location to stage a trip to NYC. City island was surprisingly quaint and pleasant.
