Good but not excellent. I like that the dock hands keep entering boats under control, taking one at a time, getting that boat secured before bringing in the next. A little mix up on entering, we had been told a starboard tie before entering, but as we approached the dock he changed his mind to a port tie. Not a big deal, but had to shift fenders and dock lines to other side before backing in. Woman in the office was nice but not overly friendly. Made it obvious she just wanted to be done with you and on your way so she could get back to whatever she was doing on her computer. Restroom/shower rooms for dockers are nice, much improved over how they used to be. For the most part clean. Would be nice if there were curtains on the shower stalls so the floor of the enter room wasn't constantly wet.

Marina Response:
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback of your experience on July 3. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by having to switch fenders. The dockhand who radioed you was aware of your special request for A Dock but did not realize in the moment that you also wished to be adjacent to your boating companion, which led to the last-minute change. We appreciate our dockhands' continuous efforts to accommodate every boater’s special request and are pleased your special request was ultimately met. We recognize that busy holiday weekends can occasionally lead to miscommunications or logistical challenges on our end and are committed to continual improvement. Regarding the shower curtains, we have evaluated multiple options over the years, including both plastic and washable cloth curtains with regular replacements and have noted your displeasure. However, due to the high volume of usage in our private shower rooms, keeping floors dry remains a consistent challenge. Wet shower feet = wet floors. Shower curtains do not effectively address this concern and tend to accumulate mold and gross residue quickly. As such, we have opted not to install them at this time in our private shower rooms. Please be assured that cleanliness is a top priority, and our staff works diligently to maintain these standards. For further details on our rationale, please refer to the attached article. https://www.safehome.org/resources/germs-in-your-bathroom/ All of our Portside staff work hard, especially during periods of peak activity and holiday weekends. They manage hundreds of daily phone calls, emails, DOCKWA reservations, and track all special requests, in addition to assisting guests in person. I am proud of their dedication and commitment to providing excellent service. Rest assured they are not playing on a computer. Nevertheless, I have shared your comments with the team and emphasized the importance of attentive communication and ensuring that customers never feel rushed, even when staff members are managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Thank you again for bringing these matters to our attention. As a transient marina situated on the south side of a destination island, we sometimes encounter challenges/complaints beyond our control. We welcome suggestions aimed at enhancing our guest experience and remain dedicated to continuous improvement.

The marina was clean, shower houses were nice, air conditioned and clean. Marina staff we dealt with were very nice and helpful. The problem was while we were there the marina was have issues with high water. They couldn't do anything about that but where they had us docked was on the wrong side of about a 50 yard long section of driveway that was under water. The trouble was any time we wanted to leave our dock to go to a restaurant, or shopping or anything, we had to wade thru this high water. Plus the dock was a long walk from either one of the shower houses, and, again, to get to the one we had to walk thru the water. To get to the marina store for ice was even further, it was a good 15 minute walk. When it really annoyed me was the day we did walk to the marina store for ice and found there were plenty of empty docks within a couple minutes walk of both the store and one of the shower houses, and we would not have had to walk thru the water. The person who assigned us our dock was well aware we were transients, that we did not have a car and had to walk thru the water to get anywhere and yet stuck us over there anyway. Jefferson Beach has been the most expensive marina so far on our trip and the most inconvenient. Probably the only way we'd go back is if they can promise us in advance that we'd be docked in a more convenient location.

Marina Response:
