I've been going to Townsend for probably the last 20 years. It's such a great location but the place is so in need of a facelift. The sinkhole on the corner by the boardwalk by the boats is a severe liability issue and has been there for probably the last ten years. Hose bib on spigot was frozen on and could not be removed and that too has been there for numerous years. Bathrooms are dirty, toilet has been leaking for years with black mold behind the toilet. Shower doors are painted plywood. Bathroom door handle was falling off and after reporting it earlier in the day to the dockhands and nothing being done about it, I got a screwdriver off my own boat and tightened it that night. It's a shame that it's such a lovely location but is run-down and in disrepair.

Great little spot for a break in our trip. Staff couldn't have been nicer. Nice little restaurant (The Watershed kitchen and Bar) was a ten-minute walk down the road. Would highly recommend the Marina for a stopover to break up a long trip.

Marina Response:
Thank you for your 5 star review. We very much appreciate it.

Had a great three-night stay over the Fourth. Last time we were here five years ago we had a wonderful stay, it's hard to imagine but the place only got better. The new bathroom/ shower facilities were beautiful. The grounds were even more manicured. Kelly was amazing, her attention to detail and customer service was over the top. The only thing the place lacks is a laundry room.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The dockhands were very attentive to arriving boats to help them dock. Many times they were getting on the boats that were already in slips to fend off when boats attempting to dock were having trouble. The stay was very peaceful and relaxing. There were a few maintenance issues, the bathroom/shower facility for the marina had no towel or clothing hooks so when you took a shower there was no place to hang your clothes and towel except to put them in the sink. It looked like there had been one there in the past as there were holes in the wall outside the shower stall. In the bathroom/ pool-house the urinal was broken for days. It was covered with a large black plastic bag. There was a fundraiser party on Friday for the Shelter Island Fireworks, so you had two to three hundred people using that bathroom and it had one working toilet in the men's room. Towel hooks and broken urinals shouldn't go unaddressed for four days. The restroom/ shower facility for the marina should be expanded, to have one toilet and one shower as a single use facility meant if one person was taking a shower there was no access to the toilet. A few minor issues but when you are paying top dollar for a transient slip you should expect the facilities to be top notch as well.
