Octane: 89;The Island Boatyard and Marina is located on Shelter Island, New York, which sits between the north and south forks of Long Island. Specifically, we are in West Neck Harbor, which is known for its natural buffers that limit wave and wind action for your boat's protection and your comfort. We have 75 slips that can accommodate power and sail boats from 15 feet to 60 feet. Overnight transient slips are also available and include access to our pool, restaurant, outdoor bar, and complimentary shuttle van, which can take you anywhere on the island. Similarly, we offer slips for SALT restaurant guests. Slips for the restaurant are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are $1.00 per foot for two hours. Gas, diesel, and ice are available 7 days a week at our fuel dock, as well as our newly installed sanitation pump out system open from 8am-6pm.
Have been coming here for 6 seasons now and it gets better every time. The staff is top notch, facilities are way above average and the restaurant Salt is great. They were very courteous and gave us shuttle rides whenever needed. Although there was a wedding reception going on in the boathouse until 11pm which seemed a little excessive cause it was loud, it was a very peaceful and pleasant experience.
It’s a beautiful site- we enjoyed biking around the area. It was not easy for us to dock our sailboat being relatively new to that type of docking and have to pay close attention to tide and shallow areas. Not ideal for all sailboats but great for motorboats.
I have been cruising to The Island Boatyard for 40 years. The location, facility, and team are second to none. I highly recommend this marina.
Great place and wonderful people.
Beautiful place. Extremely nice and helpful staff. From owner down to dock and pool people.
This is one of our favorite places to visit. The staff is terrific, dock hands are great. SALT restaurant is delicious and a great atmosphere, as is the Shipwreck. Terrific views from there also. We will make this a “must visit” at least once per season if not more.
Pool not working No wifi Restaurant closed. I should have checked
Great family owned and operated marina. Bathrooms at marina were very nice and clean if you need to use them. SALT, the restaurant at the marina, was very good. There is also a bar over near the pool which opens around 4 with live music. We made this our home base for the weekend heading over to Greenport and Sag Harbor
Nice staff and well maintained marina. A bit disappointed with restaurant Salt. My wife had lump crab and it came out of can and was quite disgusting. Fries were soggy as well. We still enjoyed our stay as we love the Island
Nice marina Easy in and out
This was a very spontaneous stop for us. I picked The Island Boatyard out of the MapTech book because our usual marina had no transient slips. Everyone was great. After booking 2 nights, due to weather we stayed 4 nights and they could not have been nicer. Megan, the manager, was awesome! We had a few really nice talks with her and you could tell her main obnjective was that we were well taken care of. Also Toby, who had just started, was very helpful. He shuttled us to and from the ferry so we could spend the afternoon in Greenport. 2 miles from Mashomack Reserve, which is beautiful for a nice hike. Plus, literally 200 feet from SALT, one of the best restaurants on SI. Highly recommended for location, services and staff. Thanks!
The dockhand, Liam was so polite and helpful…we really appreciated it! Very clean marina!
We like the family atmosphere they even will take you to town. Clean and friendly. Been coming here for years.
Was the most enjoyable experience we had this summer. Big and crew are some of the most helpful people we have met. This is a great time to visit Shelter Island. We will be back next year.
Very good dock hands and crew and facilities well equipped. The marina shows a lot of changes over the years with much of the dockage areas replaced and supported by a very good restaurant (Salt)
Great place, wonderful helpers on docks. Great food. So accommodating. Hope the pool is open on our next visit. We will return again soon.
Loved every minute and best spot we thought at the Marina . Very helpful crew with everything that we needed ...
Great food at Salt and Very friendly Dock staff
We enjoyed our recent stay at Island Boatyard. With all that is going on in the world today, I was happy to see that everyone was being cautious. The bathrooms were clean and I felt perfectly safe using them. The only suggestion that my husband has is that it would be nice to have hooks and a shelf to use to hang your clothes towels and belongings on while using the bathroom.
Island Boatyard is simply the best. Family operated with the most accommodating staff one could ask for. Love it.
Absolutely love this marina. Awesome set up, great restaurant/bar (spread out around the premises and able to order online/get delivery to your boat) and very quiet night and mornings. Everyone was so nice. Highly recommend!
Great location. Clean - restaurant had fabulous food
Great marina, clean facility, nice updated bathrooms. Great staff, very friendly and Helpful. Recommend.
The dock staff could not have been better. Anything you needed just ask. Ice , info, rides around the Island. Thanks for a great stay .
It was wonderful. Facilities are well- maintained and the staff were super friendly.
Great place to stay. James and the staff are always friendly and accommodating. Excellent food is available on premises with Salt Restaurant and the Ship Wreck Bar.
Fantastic! I had a great stay.
Want to say "Thank You" for all that James and Megan did for our Treasure Cove A Dock Rendezvous. Even though your pool was not open, the beach was great. We all had a wonderful time and Our BBQ was a success. Thank you again and cannot wait to come back. I would recommend Island Boatyard to everyone!! Be safe and enjoy your summer. The Marina and the restaurant Salt is doing a fantastic job even though Covid has not made things easy what so ever. Nothing is not that same during this time but both the marina and restaurant are doing what they can to make things easier for everyone. The dockhands are professional and informative, especially Juliet she drove us around town and showed us all the beaches we can go to. Wades beach is so relaxing. Looking froward to coming back next year!!!! :)
Great restaurant that now delivers right to your boat and deckhands even offer to come onboard to help you tie up. Fantastic service
When we book the marina they did not tell us the pool was closed. It also did not indicate on their website that the pool was closed. Since it was one of the hottest weekends of the year we consider that extremely important. I Can only assume they wanted us to arrive and find out when it was to late. Other marinas did not use Covid as an excuse. For that reason I would probably never go back.
So much was excellent here, but we had to remove stars because we were not informed that the pool was closed this season before they took our reservation. It was a very big disappointment since no other marinas we have visited had closed their pools. We should have been informed before they took our money. Just be honest. Otherwise it was a nice stay - and the restaurant delivered right to the slip!
I was going back-and-forth on whether to leave three stars four stars or five stars. Let me tell you why I chose four stars. This marina has always been great to me and I’ve always enjoyed my stay there. The restaurant and food is fantastic. The whole feeling at this Marina is a positive one. The reason why I was going back-and-forth on whether to leave three stars four stars or five stars. Let me tell you why I chose five stars. This marina has always been great to me and I’ve always enjoyed my stay there. The restaurant and food is fantastic. The whole feeling at this marina is a positive one. The reason why I was it The reason why I was going back-and-forth was first their health is very inexperienced at the marina, they do not know how to tie your boat up and they really need to be taught. I had to do my own tie up because the young lady that was trying to do it was not doing it correctly. She also plugged in the electric wrong, to explain you need to turn the plug to the right to lock it in by not locking it in because arcing and damage to your line. I’m glad I caught it and corrected it. My brother-in-law who was next to me did not and had a severe arc and damage to his power cord. The next with Covid 19 their pool was not open. But many other Suffolk county pools at marinas were. I think they were afraid I didn’t want to spend the money to staff it and open it and they thought it was better to keep it closed. One of the main reasons I was going to this marina wise to relax in the pool and 90° days. So I’ll leave it at that I will definitely be back to this marina and hope they read this And take it as a positive review that they need to train their staff on how to tie up the boats as well as do the electric. Thank you
Great marina for dog owners very close to shore from slip. Complimentary shuttle is great for shopping or going to restaurants. On site restaurant and fun bar. Fuel and pump out right on dock. We really enjoyed the small beach next to dock. Also took our dingy to shell beach and down some of the canals.
Staff extremely .... Suggest the marina add hooks in the bathrooms for clothing when taking a shower.
This is definitely a hidden gem. The restaurant and people were very polite & accommodating. The booking staff were very easy to deal with. I have been to this marina several times while fishing out in the area.
Excellent marina. The staff is great, fantastic location. The restaurant at the marina is excellent!
Charming location - quiet and scenic with a great restaurant on site. One of the staff connected us with a local resident for hire who drove us to various destinations for the day. What an unexpected bonus for our trip!!
Was pretty good overall . WiFi password was not given and no one seemed to know it . Did not answer VHF station when we were pulling in . Had to call on my cell phone . Those are minor . Over all very good. We will return .
Great place great people
Love this place! Great crew!
Probably the best marina between the forks. The best dock hands for sure.
Great docks, clean well run facility.Staff extremely attentive . Beautiful location extremely relaxing. A hidden gem of a marina!
The Marina and staff were excellent. Salt was a great Place to eat.
Staff attentive and frendly. Will return next season for longer stay. Plenty to do inside marina. Clean and well groomed grounds. Docks are concrete floating for easy docking on and off boat.
Outstanding as always.
One of my favorite marinas. Great staff.😊
Great place to stay at
The grounds are always very clean and the dock staff is the best
Excellent marina! Friendly staff, very accommodating to our boat club. Dock staff are all top notch! Some of the best dock hands we’ve ever had. We absolutely love this marina & will be back for sure.
Marina was great. Very clean and has everything you need for a family stay. Restaurant, pool, bar and games. Even though we were there as transients The staff treated us like we were multi-million dollar boat owners. Highly recommend to everyone.
Hands down our favorite spot between the forks. Best dock master (Bix) and crew we have ever come across. See you guys in 11 months and 3 weeks. ;)
Always a great experience at Island Boat Yard. Marina is clean and well-equipped, food is consistently good and the views are gorgeous.
Always a favorite stay, marina hosts a great restaurant, salt...the shipwreck bar is always great fun. The staff is absolutely the friendliest and enjoyable at any marina.......love sitting by the pool. Bicks the dockmaster will personally see that your stay is magnificent. With our busy schedule we WILL make time to return.
Love Love Love The Island Boat Yard! Great atmosphere and entertainment was superb! The Staff is very very helpful & professional!
Always have a good time here. The staff are courteous and helpful. The facility is clean and the restaurant has a good menu.
What a great marina!! Great location, easy in, easy out, with such nice and helpful dock staff. Great restaurant (SALT) and a fun boat shaped bar with live music!! Will definitely be back!! ⚓️
Island Boatyard never fails. Great Marina, Well run. Dockmaster (Bix) helpful and accomodative. Third year visiting. We will be back for a 4th.
The best staff we have ever seen, Quin JT And Mike couldn’t have been more helpful, they just jumped on the boat, tied every line , handled our dingy coming and going. Great pool entertainment, and Salt has the best calamari on the planet. Probably our favorite boating location
Dock guys great..Dockmaster incredibile..Bix is his name..Great guy..*complaint..no wifi have to upgrade so it reaches the wholedock**N0 wifi is a prob *
Love the peaceful, get away from it all beautiful setting. Channel well marked. Staff was very helpful. Transient docks near gas dock are rough when windy out of south / west. $15 wine in small plastic cups at dockside bar was pricey.
This was our first boat trip to shelter island. The staff at island boatyard was kind and curtius. The marina and restaurant are very nice with clean facilities.
Well kept marina. Staff is great. Nice pool. Good amenities. Wish they had a place to get a coffee. As nice as it is, it is still a little pricey.
Great spot as a base to explore Sag and Greenport. Docks are fine. Bathrooms good. Pool above average. Make reservations at Salt restaurant beforehand. Would definitely go back.
So friendly; great restaurant. Pool small but nice. Shuttle service available limited hours, but island taxi is also available. Relaxed atmosphere.
Excellent marina with friendly staff.
I can't say enough about the IBY. By far our favorite marina on Long Island. Salt is awesome. The dock hands are friendly and super helpful. The shuttle was great and we even took a detour to show us some places we hadn't seen before. We will be back again for sure.
Great place to relax for a few days. Been here several times now. Floating docks, great views. The free shuttle to town is a great as are restaurant and shipwreck bar.
we have stayed here before, and have always been happy, however this time we took a day trip and upon returning as we were approaching our slip we were informed someone took our slip and the dockmasters allowed the person to stay so we were moved. (the boat was smaller than mine so it was not a slip size problem) not the end of the world however it would have been nice to keep our slip or be notified before i was committed to that alleyway. (we were next to our friends that we traveled there with) Garbage cans are no where to be found at the marina only a dumpster across the lot. The marina is protected and clean, shuttle service is nice feature.
Easy location to find, nice pool, good restaurant. Have been there before and will go again.
The marina was beautiful and accommodating Provided shuttle service anytime into town and pick up. Salt restaurant was great The staff was amazing especially Scarlett, she was so helpful and knowledgeable. We'll. E back again
Fun stuff for the kids. Bar and resturaunt were very good and accommodating. Bar games (corn hole, ringo, ladder toss) made the adults happy. The dock attendants were amazing. Super friendly and outgoing as well as very knowledgeable with docking, local venues and all things shelter island. The dock attendants made our stay a solid 5 star experience. Thanks JT and Bix. Reel Busy had a great time. Thanks for the tender tow on the whaler.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The dockhands were very attentive to arriving boats to help them dock. Many times they were getting on the boats that were already in slips to fend off when boats attempting to dock were having trouble. The stay was very peaceful and relaxing. There were a few maintenance issues, the bathroom/shower facility for the marina had no towel or clothing hooks so when you took a shower there was no place to hang your clothes and towel except to put them in the sink. It looked like there had been one there in the past as there were holes in the wall outside the shower stall. In the bathroom/ pool-house the urinal was broken for days. It was covered with a large black plastic bag. There was a fundraiser party on Friday for the Shelter Island Fireworks, so you had two to three hundred people using that bathroom and it had one working toilet in the men's room. Towel hooks and broken urinals shouldn't go unaddressed for four days. The restroom/ shower facility for the marina should be expanded, to have one toilet and one shower as a single use facility meant if one person was taking a shower there was no access to the toilet. A few minor issues but when you are paying top dollar for a transient slip you should expect the facilities to be top notch as well.
