Moment of Zen stayed on the transient dock at Gulfport Marina for two weeks in February 2022 and another two at the end of March. The well-protected marina is located off Boca Ciega Bay in charming Gulfport, a town within the famously charming city of St. Petersburg. The marina itself, especially for transients, couldn't be more pleasant. The transient dock is long, wide, and floating, with easy approach and knowledgeable assistance on docking. If you have your car, there is a large parking area just outside the gate. The marina has all the usual amenities, including internet, laundry and very nice bath facilities. Equally alluring is the opportunity of spending hours strolling along the town of Gulfport's shady, old-Florida low-traffic streets. It's small downtown area is a pleasant half-dozen blocks or so away, with uncommon restaurants and shops to further idle away the time.

Moment of Zen, a 36 by 15 foot power cat, had a first-rate stay at the Tampa Convention Center Marina in mid-March 2022. The approach and docking were easy, with friendly dockhands on hand to help. The location is perfect for a visit to Amalie, the aquarium and any number of other spots, including Riverwalk. Ybor City is a delightful free tram-ride away. There is even a Publix an easy walk away. Because this marina is meant for fairly short-term visits to downtown venues, there is neither internet nor the usual marina facilities like bathrooms, showers and laundry. The staff was unfailingly friendly and helpful with suggestions for visitor parking etc. Will definitely be back!

Moment of Zen, a 36-foot by 15-foot powercat, thoroughly enjoyed a four-day stay at Bayview Plaza during March 2022. The only reason for the four stars rather than five is that although good solid padded pilings were recently added to the nice long finger piers, the distance from the boat to the piers themselves required a ramp. I was told the wood on the finger piers would soon be replaced, so the hope is that they will be reconstructed to overcome the new gap. Otherwise, it was a delightful stay. Easy walk to the beach across the street. Restaurants, drug store and Public are an easy walk. Nearby neighborhoods offer good and low-traffic dog-walking. The location is very well-protected at the end of Big McPherson bayou. When entering from the ICW on lower Boca Ciega Bay, be sure to hug the starboard shoreline carefully. If heading north, don't turn west toward the entrance until you reach half-way between the bridge and red "26." Then trace the shoreline back and inside to find plenty of find plenty of water. The easiest way to see the course is to use Navionics sonar charts.
