We really enjoyed our stay at Dowry Creek. They were incredibly helpful and accommodating, and we were easily able to extend our stay by a day. Their facilities are clean and well-maintained, and we loved that we were able to get diesel and pump-out in our slip. Having the propane refill on-site is also fantastic, and the free laundry was also greatly appreciated. Their on-site convenience store is surprisingly well-stocked, and we took the courtesy car for our bigger provisioning run. I look forward to making this a regular stop.
We had a great stay at Safe Harbor Mystic. The dock staff was friendly and actually knew how to handle lines. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived, and I loved that they had a bag with information on the marina, local services and things to do for us. The facilities were clean and well-maintained. We also met so many nice people, from our marina neighbors to other cruisers. We were there during Tropical Storm Isaias, and we were well-protected. The staff checked on boats throughout the day and did what they could to make sure they were safe. We worked from our boat the week we were there, and the wifi was consistent and fast, even during the storm. We pulled into the fuel dock on departure and again our lines were well handled. We were able to get ice, water, fuel and pump-out, and they took the time to make sure we had everything we needed and didn't rush us even though there was another boat waiting as we finished up our last water tank. It was an all-around great experience and even though it was a remote work week for us, it already felt like vacation. We can't wait to come back someday hopefully soon!
Really unique experience! I remember staying aboard the battleship as a kid, but my husband had never visited, so I figured what better way than by water? The harbormaster manages the moorings, and he couldn't be nicer. He and the gentleman who maintains the moorings for him were incredibly welcoming and let us know where to go (and where not to). Fall River's waterfront seems to be making a comeback, and the area around the battleship is totally fine. It's a bit noisy with the Braga Bridge and Rte195 right there, and if you're into places with lots of amenities, Battleship Cove probably isn't for you since you just get the mooring and access to the dinghy dock. However, it's really cool to spend the night with just a few other boats and a battleship and I definitely recommend a visit!
Conanicut Marine was fantastic! Everyone we dealt with was friendly and helpful, the facilities were clean (honestly, they had the nicest showers I've seen while cruising), and the location is perfect. It's a super quick walk to the Jamestown restaurants, the Jamestown/Newport ferry leaves right from their dock, and the view of the Jamestown Bridge and Rose Island Light is awesome. And the icing on the cake - they'll drive you to the grocery store to provision! The store is within walking distance, but it's so much easier to not have to lug all those bags back to the boat. We liked it so much, we decided to stay three nights instead of the one we initially booked. We'll definitely be back!
This is the second time we've stayed at Port Jeff Yacht Club, and we've found the staff to be friendly and helpful both times. The launch is reliable and the hours are great. Looking forward to visiting again next year!
