Situated on the New River in Fort Lauderdale just west of the Florida East Coast Railroad Bridge, the William H. Marshall Memorial Bascule Bridge is the third drawbridge on the upstream progression toward the west from the Intracoastal Waterway. The bridge has a 20-foot closed vertical clearance and 60 feet of horizontal clearance at the center span. This bridge opens on demand.
The bridge can be opened by horn signal (one long, one short) or by hailing the bridge tender on VHF Channel 09. (All bridges in the state of Florida must be hailed on VHF Channel 09.)
