Introduction:

The Henry Ford Avenue Vertical Lift Bridge shuttles rail traffic across the Cerritos Channel from Terminal Island in the heart of the Port of Los Angeles onto the mainland of Los Angeles near consolidated Slip.

Navigating the Bridge:

Use NOAA Chart 18749.

Characteristics: The bridge has a closed vertical clearance of six feet, with 180 feet of horizontal clearance in the center span. When the span is lifted, the vertical clearance grows to 165 feet. Next to this one is a 46' vertical height fixed bridge.
