About

Introduction:

The Treasure Island Causeway Middle Bascule Bridge is located at Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW) Mile Marker 118.9, just south of Johns Pass, in the heart of Saint Petersburg. The bascule span is one of three bridge sections (two fixed) that join Causeway Isles, Paradise Island and Treasure Island to the mainland.

Navigating the Bridge:

Use NOAA Chart 11411.

The bridge has a closed vertical clearance of eight feet with 80 feet of horizontal clearance in the center span.

Navigation is easy and straightforward, with five- to seven-foot depths inside the channel markers and somewhat forgiving four-foot depths outside. In addition to the current influence from Johns Pass, this area is heavy with boat traffic almost year-round, and requires special considerations when transiting the span.

Bridge Schedule:

This bridge operates on a restricted schedule. Year-round, daily, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., the bridge opens on the hour and every 15 minutes thereafter. From 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., 10 minutes of advance notice is required.

Depending on schedule, the bridge can be opened by horn signal (one long, one short) or by hailing the bridge tender on VHF Channel 09. (All bridges in the state of Florida must be hailed on VHF Channel 09.)

Local Notices to Mariners:

Local Notices to Mariners are available online from the U.S. Coast Guard.
