Located five miles east of Los Angeles Harbor, Alamitos Bay and its surrounding white sandy beaches are a popular destination for boaters and beachgoers alike. Alamitos Bay is actually part of Long Beach and is a popular departure spot for Catalina Island. Several tour operators and ferries operate out of Alamitos Bay.
Alamitos Bay is entered via the Alamitos Bay Inlet, a deep and reliable passage that is well-breakwatered and has average depths of 15 feet.
Approach from the south. The west breakwater is marked with flashing green 1, while the east side is marked with flashing red 2. Once inside, 15-foot depths prevail throughout most of the basin, although vertical clearance is limited to 32 feet by the fixed Davies Bridge across Marine Stadium portions of the area.
Local Notices to Mariners are available online from the U.S. Coast Guard.
