About

Introduction:

Quoddy Narrows lies between West Quoddy Head and Liberty Point on Campobello Island. Once a reliable passage to Lubec Narrows and the town of Lubec, the channel has now silted in, and despite irregular attempts by the Coast Guard to keep it marked, depths are very unreliable. Those wishing to visit Lubec are advised to make the longer journey around Campobello Island, into Head Harbor Passage, and then into Lubec.

Navigating the Water:

Use NOAA Chart 13396.

West Quoddy Head Lighthouse (two white flashes every 15 seconds) marks the western side of the entrance to Quoddy Narrows, while several buoys mark the rest of the irregular channel. Passage farther up to Lubec is not recommended due to unreliable depths.

Local Notices to Mariners:

Local Notices to Mariners are available online from the U.S. Coast Guard.
