Great little harbor town! This is one of the highlights of our Great Loop trip. Lots to see and do. Even if you come with your own boat, we suggest taking one of the glass bottom boat tours of the shipwrecks. The docking fee was very reasonable. They have an excellent price on fuel (The lowest we've seen in Canada). The staff was friendly and helpful. The facilities are not elegant but are clean and functional. Thanks to Carla the Harbormaster for a well-run marina!

Be careful, this is a terrible merchant. It traps customers. Imagine that you are a paddler with your little kid. You find a launching point besides a public parking lot at Bay St, Tobermory. $3/hr parking fee charged by the city, 3 hours maximum, tight schedule for a visit to the shipwreck at big tub, and the Fathom Five National Marine Park. No sign at ramp, no marina office in sight. Seems a normal public launching point with a paid parking lot. You decide to launch. You spend 10 minutes to put the canoe into the water, you spend another 10 minutes to pack and carry bags into your canoe. You paid the parking fee at the machine, time ticks from now on. But, right at the time that you were getting into your canoe, a young girl suddenly appeared. She claimed a $5 launching fee. What do you think? A swindler or not? The girl wore a uniform labeled Tobermory Harbor. You asked why there is not a sign at the ramp, there should be one so people can decide after getting enough information. She answered “but we are around and watching the ramp.” You look around but can’t see the Tobermory Harbour Office. You don’t have time and you have a little kid with you, so you paid $5 after confirming that you will get a receipt. When you paddled back hours later, a young man appeared. He told you “My colleague complained that you treated her rudely”. No, you just asked questions and told her that you will give bad reviews. You asked the man why there is not a sign at the ramp. He answered “We took it down ...” Even more, the man told you that you will be put onto a blacklist, and be forbidden to use the ramp in the future. You are a thin tourist with a little kid. They are local adult people. For your kid’s and your own safety, you just left. See, That is how Tobermory Harbour does business and treats customers. It charged customers money without giving information in advance; its clerk appeared only after you had already paid parking fee; you just asked questions but its clerk complained that you treated them RUDELY, and its manager put you onto blacklist. Trap. Shame. I can’t believe beautiful Tobermory has such a terrible merchant.
