I was there in July 2016. They have extended the outer breakwater in an ESE direction, thereby minimising any surge from N or NE winds. (take a look at updated electronic charts such as Navionics). They had not quite finished when i was there so because i arrived in the dark i anchored off overnight and then entered in the morning when it was easier to see the construction works. The picture being shown on this website is out of date. Marina is managed by three different entities: starting from N end of marina 1)Blue Nautica 2)Club Nautico, 3)Marina El Veliero . I took number 1 but number 2 would have been better, cheaper and has a bar overlooking the marina. Facilities a bit basic with all three sections but the town makes up for it. Easiest way to shop is take the tender across to S end of the marina and there is supermarket and other shops about 50 m away so you can load up the tender and avoid having to carry stuff back to the boat. Good town, everything you might need. Also good for visits to interior such as Segesta, Erice, or Selinunte. Andrew "Genial Bee"
A very nice marina on the NW corner of Sicily in the Golfo del Castellmare. It is West of Palermo. The town is really Italian with a beautiful mountain on the West side of the marina and a pretty waterfront.. The marina appears to be protected from most winds -it's a pretty modern breakwater, but I suppose in a g North or Northeast wind there could be problems with surge. The waterfront of the town is loaded with great restaurants, and everything is a short walk from the marina. I would recommend this marina. We are paying around 50 per night, about the going rate for these parts since we are still petty much in hih-season still, so I have no complaints.
