Claim this MarinaI picked this marina as a launching point for my family's vacation trip from Ottawa to Prescott Ont. via the Rideau river. I called the day before and was given directions to the marina the cost to launch and ask to drive directly down the ramp to a turn around area at the bottom. The person I talked to seemed very friendly and welcoming "Awesome" The day of our trip was going to be taxing on me as I had to trailer my 27' SeaRay from Kemptville to Rockliffe, launch my boat, leave my teenage daughters there then drive to Prescott to load my friends boat onto my trailer and return to Rockliffe where another friend was going to drive my truck and trailer back to Kemptville. A big day for me especially since I had just finished a 24hr shift that morning but I was excited and ready to begin our adventure. I showed up at Rockliffe with my boat drove down the ramp as instructed then when it came to the turn around I was to use I had a very hard time maneuvering my 2016 F250 and over 30' of triaxle trailer around the turn around designed for a 18' boat and ford Focus! I honestly thought I was going to blow 2-3 tires off of the rims. I was met by a Rep from the marina whom was very welcoming and friendly. I finished launching my boat paid the reasonable fees and headed on my way to Prescott. about 2.5-3 Hrs later I was back at Rockliffe but this time I chose to maneuver the truck and trailer at the top of the ramp where there is space for my truck and trailer to turn without damaging my gear. As I prepared to back down I noticed someone coming up looking concerned so I stopped and got out, he explained that club rules state that I needed to drive down and use the turn around. I explained my concern over this and my friend offered to assist backing me down the ramp. The club member "seemed" Ok with this as he turned and walked back down so I began backing down. Here's where the fun begins, I'm over 1/2 way to the waters edge and suddenly there is another member at my window aggressively screaming at me! that I must drive down not back down and I am about to be kicked off of the property. So lets go back over a couple of facts, I just finished a 24hr shift (I'm tired) I just drove boats around Eastern Ontario for probably 5-6 hrs, I have my boat sitting in the water with my teenage daughters in it for which I paid all the fees for, I'm now at a complete stop with my Brand New F250 and saftied boat trailer as per my CVOR that I carry and now I have a totally irrational individual at my window screaming at me!! I can't lie I was close to placing my truck in park and settling this issue but instead I took a deep breath and asked "why are you so mad?" Thankfully the first gentleman that I dealt with that day intervened and redirected the insane individual away, Thank you BTW. I then launched the second boat paid more fees and left RYC with a promise to never return. The web site says visitors are welcome but I think that line should be removed cause I didn't leave there feeling that way! I guess there concern was that once sometime ago a person backed down and there boat detached and caused damage but I highly doubt my truck and trailer was going to have that issue besides when boats are pulled out are they backed up the hill???? no of course not. Like I said my friend and I will not support this club again, there are many other launch sites that would welcome our $$$ for launching or boats.
