Plattsburgh Boat Basin

We reserved a mooring ball for one night so we could conveniently meet friends at the Naked Turtle (nice restaurant). We were asked to dock at service dock prior to picking up our ball, and unusual request in our opinion. The nice lady at the dock tried to explain to us where was located our ball. Since only 1 over 3 balls bear a number tag, finding and confirming our location took over one hour. Also, the dinghy dock is pretty tired (missing cleats, nails sticking out) and close to an underwater steel structure that could cause some damage.

Docks need to be cleaned, many nails need to be nailed down we did so with our hamer. For the rest it was ok. Good gas price and good service.

Had a fine time, very friendly

Had to call multiple times to get a slip assignment confirmed for following day, which seems to defeat the purpose of using Dockwa. Hailed marina on arrival on VHF 06. They re-confirmed slip assignment and indicated a dockhand would meet us there. Another boat was in the assigned slip (and clearly a permanent resident), dockhand never showed up, and they stopped answering hails via VHF as we slowly circled the mooring field, waiting. Fortunately a local pointed us to an unused slip. No interaction with dock staff for our entire stay even after we went looking for someone to advise where we were tied up. Power pedestals are sketchy — ours wobbled a good 30 degrees in all directions, but voltage seemed stable. Docks had a lot of goose feces. Naked Turtle is a good time, though.

Best location on Lake Champlain. But Chad and the team is what makes this a great place to stay. And you gotta try the fish tacos at the Naked Turtle restaurant on site.
