I really wanted Cooper River Boatyard to become a place I could return to year after year. My initial interactions with the staff were excellent—they were friendly, knowledgeable, and the facility itself is beautiful and well maintained. Unfortunately, my experience became increasingly frustrating due to unexpected charges. While the yard presented itself as a good place to have work completed, I was not initially placed in a location where the work could be done. I was then required to move, resulting in additional costs of approximately $5,000, followed by another bill of roughly $3,000, all on top of the regular haul-out and storage fees. What disappointed me most was that these additional costs were never clearly communicated upfront. I later learned that policies may have changed around the time of my stay, but regardless, I felt blindsided by the final bill. The facility, location, and expertise of the staff are all strong positives. However, my advice to anyone considering the yard is to get every potential charge in writing before committing to any work. What I hoped would be a long-term relationship ended up being a very expensive and disappointing experience.
