Nestled between City Island and Hart Island, our mooring field is protected in three directions, making the perfect anchorage to access the calm waters of the Long Island Sound, as well as safe harbor from the seldom downturns in weather. Our proximity to the Throggs Neck Bridge makes us a perfect stop-off for transients traveling into New York Harbor.
Along with your mooring, include fresh water, electricity on the docks, daily launch boat service, 24-hour limited access, and absolute privacy.
Barron's Boatyard is not fancy but the service is excellent. Fred, the yard manager was super helpful and all of the launch drivers were great. I would give 5 stars except the showers would not produce hot water. Not a deal breaker in mid July but not great either. The restrooms and showers were in good shape. It was an easy walk to the main drag (probably true for all of the marinas on city Island) and the Nautical Museum was just a few blocks away. It is a must see.
Fred, the launch driver was super helpful! Our only complaint, which is outside the control of Baron’s, was the all night party going on nearby. It made sleeping with hatches open impossible.
No onshore facilities. The launch was timely and friendly.
We moor here and love it. Family-run, friendly, and very attentive. Clean bathrooms and showers. They're a first-rate boatyard, and I have had many friends who've had great work done there. Plus... City Island is amazing!
Nice people, full service boatyard. Great place to stop before or after running the East River.
They were very helpful. The moorings are protected on three sides and once the launch drop us at the dock, City Island is a few blocks with great restaurants. It is a great starting point to travel into the Sound or down into NYC.
Just great Excellent dock staff Clean well kept Location can’t be beat
There’s not much to this marina. The moorings are solid but the field is easily rolled by powerboat wakes and the wind. It did quiet down at night. The showers and heads are adequate. The best thing about Barron’s is the launch service. They responded promptly to phone calls (the marina doesn’t monitor any VHF channels). The launch operator came out as I approached the mooring field to circle around my assigned mooring which made it easy to find. The launch operator on duty was friendly and helpful and made the stay pleasant.
Boatyard staff were very responsive during Dockwa reservation process. Approach to mooring field was easy. Marina staff were very helpful as we approached - we spoke with them on the phone and then they circled our mooring ball in the launch and ensured the bridle was okay. Very calm mooring with winds from the west - would also be calm with winds from east or north. Only exposed from the south. Launch service was good - just had to call using cell phones. Boatyard did not have a lot of amenities, but that was known when we made our reservation and was fine with us. We did not use showers, but they were available. We would definitely return!
