Approach

Proceed down the East face of the large Government Wharf toward the Canadian Coast Guard staton. There will be a minimum of 18' here. Turn right into our marina and the depth will drop. We carry 7' here at low tide. The bottom is soft silt. Depth will rise a foot or two as you proceed further into the marina. 'B' Dock is to port. 'A' Dock is to starboard. For fuel or pumpout proceed straight between 'A' and 'B', fully into the marina - you will see the fuel dock to port. There is lots of room to turn. Our marina season begins in late April and ends in mid-October. During July and August, dock personnel will greet your arrival with a friendly welcome and a helping hand. You can always reach someone on Channel 68, or by telephone at (902) 436-2153

This is my home port, so I may not be entirely unbiased. Having said that, my wife and I have sailed into many of the marinas between here and Buzzards Bay and Summerside Yacht Club is easily one of the best. There are no depth concerns getting here and, as is apparent in the photos, the marina is very well protected. A very strong SE wind will result in some deflection from the long government wharf into the marina but there is little fetch and so this is minimal. In all other winds the marina barely moves. The marina is secured to large cement-filled piles driven to bedrock. There is plenty of space between the fingers and generally lots of face-dock room available for larger vessels. The boating community is strong and facility management excellent. You can expect help with any question you have or problem you may encounter. Overall, Summerside is the best stop on this coast.
