Southwest Harbor |
Hinckley now operates a Northeast Harbor facility, previously known as Morris Yachts, to offer slips for vessels up to 80 feet and a complete service and repair yard at the coveted entrance to Acadia National Park. Our Northeast Harbor yard is ideally situated for cruising boaters with access to many local restaurants (both casual and formal), provisioning services, tennis courts, showers, laundry facilities, fuel, and pump-out services. In our Northeast Harbor facility we do not offer any moorings, however, please refer to our Southwest Harbor yard, which is a quick 10 minute cruise by water. At Hinckley Yachts Southwest Harbor we offer many moorings and amenities.
At first, I would have been inclined to rate it lower. I thought we booked a floating dock mooring at the protected top of the harbor, but was told we didn't fit there and were assigned to a mooring ball at the harbor entrance. Zero protection. Waked all day long. No one answered our hail upon arrival. When I called the office, I was transferred three times and first assigned an occupied mooring, then someone called back and straightened it all out, after we roamed for 20 minutes. He was very helpful.
Very good service but a very bad mooring: we were at the mouth of the harbor exposed to a constant southwesterly swell as a small storm rolled in. Also about a mile out from showers and laundry. It turns out that the harbormaster is a much better option. They can be found online as Northeast Harbor Marina.
