Update on yesterdays South Norwalk Boat Club humiliating my daughter in just in case the do not respond to my email below! Exactly what are you doing about the behavior that was displayed yesterday? I have already contacted an attorney on my daughter’s behalf. I have also never been more ashamed of the people in Norwalk, Connecticut — the place where I grew up, and where my father was a lifetime member and Police Sergeant. You should be especially ashamed of how the original sexual harassment situation was handled. When no one at your club took meaningful action regarding the harassment, my daughter unfortunately reached a breaking point and took matters into her own hands. Was her reaction correct? No. However, as you will see in the below written letter from my daughter about what were her exact account of what happened. The fact remains that repeated complaints about harassment were ignored. The man responsible was never suspended or reprimanded and continues to harass my daughter through text messages to this day. That matter will also be addressed separately. More recently, she did not deserve the treatment she received at the funeral luncheon. It was cold, heartless, and completely unnecessary — very much like the way she was treated four years ago. Rather than addressing the situation yourselves, the board hid behind bartenders and staff members, apparently unwilling to identify who made the decision to remove her. We were also told an email had been sent denying her request for a pass to attend the luncheon, yet no such email was ever received. What makes this even more disturbing is that you waited until she was in the middle of giving a speech before removing her. That was humiliating, cruel, and entirely avoidable. How any of you believed that was acceptable behavior is beyond comprehension. Most importantly, on the night of the Commodore’s Dinner, no man was held accountable except my daughter. The way this entire matter has been handled has caused her unnecessary stress, anxiety, and emotional pain during an already difficult time. I hope every person involved reflects seriously on their actions, because I will not ignore this situation any longer. Your club will be held accountable for the way my daughter was mistreated.
