We love Elk Rapids. The staff is great and always busy doing something. We had one mix up while we were there when we scheduled a ride to a local restaurant at 5:15 pm and the office decided to close at 5 pm without telling us. Had to cancel our reservation. The harbor master felt very bad and did apologize. If you advertise that you are open until 8 pm you should find a way, with reduced staff, to stay open until 8 pm. Overall our trip to Elk Rapids was great. We will try it again.
Marina was very clean and the people are very friendly. The marina appears to be understaffed. They never answer the radio and barely the phone. When we arrived some other boat was in our slip and when we asked why it took well over an hour to get anyone to reply! We could not get tied up because we did not know if we were in someone else's slip.
