Despite having a reservation and talking to the marina to determine what side to place the lines, there was no one there when we arrived at 2:30 PM! Again, we spoke to them at 1:30 PM. No where in any data does it state that they close at 2:00 PM. We never would have made that reservation. Very unprofessional.
Had a dinner reservation on shore. At last minute, told that the launch service only ran until 6 PM. Had to cancel reservation. Website says service runs until 11 PM. Would have been nice to know. No discount for the mooring, of course.
We were able to stay inside the harbor, on one of the 2 moorings. Someone else was supposed to show up and raft, but they never did. Outside the harbor would have been untenable. Great lobsters at Larsens.
I assumed that my mooring would be in “The Pool”. In fact, I was placed in the outer harbor, totally exposed and very uncomfortable. The advertising in Dockwa was misleading. No where was this even suggested as a possibility.
Everything about Coecles Harbor was first rate except, and it is a big except, the dinghy dock, which is downright dangerous. Nice facilities, nice folks - they even will shuttle you to various destinations, but I'll won't be back until that dinghy dock is redone.
The mooring field outside the breakwater can be quite rolly, and was the night we stayed. A long dinghy ride to shore. But everything is right there, just off the ferry dock (including a West Marine!). Filled up with water at the town pier. A dry town, so BYOB.
Despite making my reservations on the day and hour they became available, I was placed on the last mooring at the end of the mooring field, at least 1 mile from town. And on top of that, it was a mooring for power boats, so I was aground at low tide! They were very apologetic and moved us to a more favorable mooring, but how could something like this have happened? The facilities are woefully inadequate - worst dinghy dock in New England. No real shower/bathroom facilities to speak of. Its as if the mooring community is an afterthought.
