This is a private club but they have a very expensive public hotel and the marina you can stay at if your a guest. The pool an bar area is wonderful with activities for the kids. However you must be a hotel guest. Then marina has slips available for a very high cost. The channel is deep and safe 10'+
Shallow water about 3 feet to get into. Marina is OK and well protected, This is a working dry dock Marina nothing fancy. Get your boat out Fixed and put back In. They have fuel and rent boats there. ice IS $6 a bucket full and a limited ship store. Like I said nothing fancy they just take your boat out and put it back in the water. What was nice is they rinsed off the boat and flushed the motors. Update: I had work done there and the Machanic they suggested WAS TERRIBLE! My Yamaha Motor never ran right after. I just paid a few more thousand dollars and had it taken apart again. He broke gasket on install and put in a broken O ring and Completely left out another O-ring. Then He broke and lost Bolts on my side Plastic cowlings. CARELESS!!! DO NOT USE ANYONE THEY SUGGEST!!! Also they had a bit of attitude when I needed to get my boat in water and I called to say I was coming! Go elsewhere. 3 stars because of location to Hawks Cay and My boat was kept safe from thieves.
My review is from 4 years ago as well. So we were there for fantesy Fest and showed up late on a sunday. Even though they where full this marina Found something for us. (For this alone they get passing grade!) nice facility: clean, friendly helpful staff, constant security but a little expensive. walking distance to everything And deep water. Four stars because while it is nice the marina, they are on the expensive side. I have been to nicer marinas at the same cost but this place has the Location. Keep In mind this is from four years ago. I agrea with alfa1023 but only say 4 stars.
Probably worth another start but I was not in a slip so I am not sure. We had our boat trucked to this location so we could work on it and put it in the water. While we did not have a slip or dock we did have a hassle free experience. They dry docked the boat without a problem and gave us a great spot to work on it. When we were ready they splashed the boat for us and we fuelled up right there. Parking was not a problem and the Light rail was a block away. So you could get around without a car. I would go there again for marine work. Sorry I do not know about the docks but there were several hardcore fishing folks with small boats there (if that means anything). What i liked about this place is no one bothered us. We were left alone to do the work we needed. Sometime boat yards can be a major pain in the ass but this place was great.
Happening place at night. Little dumpy but You will have fun with friends having few drinks here. Look you are in the keys this place is ok and worth a visit. I had drinks here and a fun night, I am not sure about the food but I heard it was good.
Good place, Across creek from Marina del mar. Little cheeper, Docks in a little better shape, Nice Pool, resonable priced rooms. It's a little further walk to stores. Basically the same as Marina del mar (read my review there) but less of the general public and drunks walking around your boat. It's an ok place and I think They are or were under the same managment.
Nice marina good people. We dry docked here for the winter 2x. The boat was kept safe and the folks that ran the place are freindly. This was one of the better priced Marinas too. I would recommend this place to a friend. They also allow you to do your own work on the boat like bottom painting. I was never there for the summer but winter storage was great there. Oh and it was shallow getting into the marina about 3 to 4 feet.
So difficult to rate this place it has its up and downs, now it looks like itÂ’s in an upswing. First this place is a legendary marina with a very long history. As story has it the artist Guy Harvey bought it and did not listen to the advice of the owner of Bimini sands, Who told him you need 10 million in renovations. Harvey and his partners dumped in just shy of 1 million and the place went downhill for several years and then Guy Harvey dumped it. (This is the story not sure how much is true.) Now I think the government owns it. The place is still ok. There is an ok restaurant and bar with very, very slow service. They have events and activities for kids and a clean pool. CUSTOMS is there now! I do not like the locals and native kids on the docks asking to clean your boat or fish but security seams ok. They have a liquor store, nice bathroom and showers and walking distance to Alice town. The docks SUCK! Splintery, Old, fixed wood docks and poorly lit with strong current. Visit this place because it is a legend and it is better than Bimini bay. Just tie your boat very well with many bumpers and wear sandles on the dock because of splinters.
I agree with Jpowers but, Docks are ageing, channel is narrow with lots of boat traffic and a Lot of Partying and Noise on weekends. Many strange people walking around so Keep your stuff locked up! The good - is there is gas and full service marinas close by. You can walk to any store you would need. Pool is very nice. There is a Breakfast and Hotel! And Candi is a great dock master! Coconuts has been closed april 20013...
Gas, Nice Docks, A real marina with services, bathrooms and store. GO HERE TO EAT! The food is fantastic! and they have a band. Very shallow and narrow channel. only a 4,5 foot draft can get in. I have not spent the night I only eat there but this is a very nice place and it is off the beaten path a little. I would have stayed if they had a pool for the kids.
So hard to rate. Three stars but if you want to party this is a great spot. Bar and Fire pit right outside docks. Docks are terrible, hard to get on and off and OLD! The NEW hang out and fire pits right off the marina are very Nice! With two kids this place was fun for a night or two. There is a nice pool, Bars and "Theater of the sea" (Great for kids) is walking distance away. The dock Master is awesome and very friendly he let us stay an extra hour so we could go to "theater of the sea". You can get gas and many people party on the sand bar right outside the marina. There is also a very interesting bar a short walk down the beach that has Tree house like tables. At night time on a weekend there is a lot of NOISE! you dock next to a bar. The only draw back, How can I say this... is the Clients. OVer the years we noticed this place seams to attract some ghetto people and a few low-lifes, BUT it's not too bad. We feel safe there and normally keep to ourselves anyway. Three stars but THIS PLACE IS WORTH A STOP BY FOR THE NIGHT AT LEAST. Better docks in more quiet area would make it a four star. Gas Bathrooms/Showers (Dirty and small but they have them) Internet and game room Food store close by Burger Place right there. Beach bar
My family and I came in by boat and we did not have a good experience. We requested to have a slip near bathroom and activities for the kids. THEY PUT US IN THE FAR CORNER AWAY FROM EVERYTHING! Even though there where no boats there! I complained and with resistance they agread to move us.We were warned not to leave our rods out because of thieves.There where a dosen or so Locals fishing on the dock all night! I paid 150 bucks a night for a slip for this ghetto crap? - Far walk to get anywhere! - Long boat ride down the canal - Nothing around the fisherman Marina except pool and a Hassel to get to the small fake town. - Locals Fishing on the docks all night and Bad security. - Expensive - Dose not look like the pictures at all! No grass and under construction again! My review is donÂ’t go there! While the fake town is nice, it is to much money for bad, slow service! I will not be returning! 2 stars for new docks and kids game room.
I was just there with the family and yes this place is very good. Right off the inlet, You could be fishing in 5 minutes and comming in at night is a breaze. One of the nicer marinas in Bimini with free shuttle to other parts of the island. Dock are nice and stable They have gas,a small boating shop and Laundery area. Pool is nice but it is small. ***Update 7/2013 They now have a huge infinity pool This place is fantastic five stars for Bahammas for sure.*** There are a few bars and a shuttle boat to north bimini within a long walking distance or quick shuttle bus ride. Update 1/1/2015 Under new Managment, I was told there was a lot of wasteful spending so the Bahammas partner has someone else running the place now. If you want to avoid the island weirdo's that walk the streets and have a place you can let the kids loose this is a good spot. They have a kids program but we where not offered it or saw any info on it. You have really ask about it. No one was around for us or returned any calls so the kids stayed with us. I would say from our vist don't come here for a kids program. Maybe it could have been the time of year. Yes I would recommend this place and would visit it again. However if you want to shop go to North bimini or do what we did take your dingy there and pay $10 dingy parking.
*** Just informed this place is CLOSED 1/19/2016 *** Double check if your going there. *** This Place is now called Mackey's Sand Bar. Four Stars for the food, pool, Bar and Bathrooms NOT THE DOCKS. Well look your in Bimini so realize your not getting white glove service anywhere. The docks are old and falling apart. The Pool is nice L shape and Bathrooms and showers are clean. Sunsets, food and drinks are outstanding! Go there to eat,drink,swim,play in the sand and snorkel. As for Docking there overnight i suggest stay at Bimini Sands (Nicer hotel and Marina) and take FREE bus to this place. ****7/8/2014 Update**** Center dock has been re-built. Still a fixed dock and NOT a floating dock but it's a lot nicer then it was. Rates are little cheaper then the Sands.
