I cannot recommed KPYY highly enough. I had a leaky and intractable stuffing box on my 38.8 Bristol sloop--and at the same time had to head back to SE Mass. for a family emergency. I was having nightmares about leaving a leaking boat for 2 or 3 days. ... The staff at Kittery Point Yacht Yard (in particular Jason, Tara and Vic) were incredibly understanding, kind and helpful: despite a busy schedule they sent their highly experienced mechanic, Vic, the next morning, and he took care of the problem in short order. If you're ever sailing in the Portsmouth area, and need repairs, a mooring, a slip, or just a helping hand, KPYY is the place to go. George Foy S/V Eleanna
I've visited Gloucester twice and stayed at one of the town moorings, two different fields, each time. I can't say enough good things about the people in the harbormaster's office, in the launch, and in general. They were helpful, informative, and always friendly. I had to stay longer, unexpectedly, for family reasons, in high summer and they did their best to accommodate me. Their facilities (showers, a 'mariners' lounge,' etc.) are clean and pleasant. Gloucester harbor in general is a fascinating example of a working port with a strong maritime historical component and I highly recommend a visit.
