Good, helpful staff. We were on a reasonably priced mooring right off town of Gulfport, which is a nice little place with lots of restaurants and bars. Dinghy dock in town was just rebuilt when we left. We dinked about 1.3 NM into marina to go ashore. Boca Ciega Bay has a bit of fetch so can get a little choppy in a breeze, but not much current so boat rides into waves. Weekends and holidays can also produce some chop from boat traffic. Enjoyed our stay. If we get back around this way will likely come back here.
Great stay, nice folks. Look forward to coming back up again.
Wanted easier access to land than from dinghy for a week after getting total hip replacement. This was just what we needed with the one caveat that, like every marina in Newport, it is outrageously expensive. No shower or toilet due covid. Dockmaster was great.
Friendly, accommodating.
Excellent mooring tackle. Great location. Dinghy dock on beach side is at south end of mooring field. For west side access where most of the bars and restaurants are, dinghy dock is at far south end of bay. If you have a deep keel be careful at the entrance.
