Previously named ‘Marina of the Year’ by Marina Dockage magazine, Safe Harbor Charleston City is home to the famed Mega Dock which hosts some of the most prestigious yachts in the world. As a premier boating destination, the marina’s state-of-the-art facilities and unmatched southern hospitality are merely the beginning. The world-renowned dining, shopping, and historic destinations of Charleston are only seconds away.
Love this marina! Close to the city and well maintained. The staff is super helpful and will do anything to make sure we have what we need! Like that they greet us upon arrival. Excellent!
Staff was extremely helpful, and facilities are clean and well maintained.
Excellent, as always!
Nice place, clean restrooms, good restaurant on property close to the inlet, friendly staff!
Very nice. Great staff
Great staff. Very helpful.
We stayed overnight on our way south. It was everything we needed. Would stay again.
Stayed one night. The 50 amp circuit provided power to only one half of our boat. Confirmed to be problem with marina pedestal. Marina credited us for electric the next day. Dock master said they would send someone down to the pump out to help us with dock lines. After waiting 15 minutes, no one showed up. You get the point.
The Charleston City Marina is always awesome!!
Absolutely fantastic marina and beautiful city!
Top notch professional staff. Everyone was so helpful and knowledge in every aspect of the stay.
Massive facility with great docks and high-speed fuel. It is at the downtown area so it is quick to access all that Charleston offers.
Great place, very nice people. We’ll be back.
Beautiful The dockhands were exceptional that helped us. Very friendly and helpful. You have gentlemen working there, well mannered and it is truly refreshing. Thank you 😊
Excellent marina but can be bounced at times
Everything we wanted. Thanks.
We were put on the outside of the mega dock and it was rocking all night long due to Harbor traffic. We were told there were no other slips available.
Love this place! Seeing all of the magnificent yachts is like going to a boat show. They have their services completely dialed in.
Fantastic location....easy walk to downtown Charleston. Staff was very attentive. Wonderful mobile repair service. And very clean, well maintained marina. Definitely will come back.
We arrived early 1 AM, there was somebody to greet us and help with a line. Awesome service, clean and nice
Great Marina close to town and great staff will visit again
Great marina and well run!
Everything as expected.
Great marina. We really enjoyed our two months there. The staff was super helpful, the marina is clean and in good repair. We were on the mega dock and only occasionally did we notice the wake of passing boats. Many good restaurants are within walking/biking distance. The airport is about a 15 minute drive and easy to get in and out of. I am looking forward to spending some time there in the future.
Great dock. Professional staff. Great location for the waterway As well as downtown.
All great but was not able to use electric scooter to go to and from parking lot to boat which was half a mile away for shore. we are all adults and were ride as slow as they could go (slower than a bicycle). I know there is cart service but no one wants to want for a ride and pay every time. staff and everything else was great as usually.
Great group of folks with well maintained facilities.
Sailing Catamaran - 44' X 25' X 4' We stayed here for a couple of nights on our way north along the US East Coast. This was an interesting stop for many reasons. Trey, the Dockmaster, seemed great; but I never actually met him in person, since reservations are easy (and COVID-19 safe) on Dockwa! This is a very busy marina, with traffic going in and out all the time. I tied up our 44 foot sailing cat in a 60 foot space between another cat and a motor yacht on their "Mega Dock" - They pack 'em in tight! The Mega Dock was a convenient place to tie up for a couple of nights, especially since diesel was available right there where we tied up. There is a lot of chop from the Ashley River traffic, though. There's a great little general store nearby, along with a gas station, liquor store and wine store among other vendors. There's only diesel at the dock, so this nearby station is important if you need gas. Laundry and shower facilities are small, but nice. Dryers are large industrial ones, so you can do a couple of loads of wash in one dryer. There's a nice Publix a bike ride away, but it's not exactly convenient. Downtown Charleston is about a 20 minute walk from the marina.
Very helpful dock crew .
Dock hands were great. Long walk to get out of the marina.
What an awesome group of people! Everyone interacted with had an awesome attitude and went above and beyond. Clean facilities. Its obvious the city, but most importantly the employees care about their marina. I will definitely be coming back!
As usual a nice stay. We actually stayed and extra day.
Great Marina! Staff very helpful! Current is very strong there so be prepared.
To notch service with a smile.
Great location and the staff was great as always. One of our favorite spots.
Excellent in every way!
Always a pleasure
Great facility, but water is a bit rough on the outside of the MegaDock for smaller boats.
No problems is all I can say with all the social distancing. Dockwa works however since we don’t check in we don’t automatically get gate and restroom codes. That could come with our welcome email. Marina spotless, dock hands helpful if overwhelmed. I’ll be back.
Great except for passing traffic that didn't obey the no wake signs.
Facility is clean and friendly. Dock personnel are very helpful. Being on the outside of the mega dock in the high current and boat traffic wake area gets bouncy.
We enjoyed our 3 day stay at this first rate marina. Staff was friendly and attentive, facilities and the docks were in great shape. We docked alongside the mega dock and it was easy-in and easy-out. This is the place we will come whenever we visit Charleston.
Stayed on inside face of mega dock and was a fairly calm stay, minimal wind while we were there. Staff was very attentive and facilities in great shape. Restrooms clean and good shape. Good place to walk, or they will get you on a golf cart. Shuttles to town.
We spent 20 days at Charleston City Marina after we lost our anchor at the anchorage across from the marina. (Don’t anchor there.) The bathrooms, showers, and laundry are clean and well maintained. The docks are excellent. There is a restaurant on site that has been there since 1963. It serves great food all day at a reasonable price in an informal setting. There is a daily shuttle to West Marine and the shuttle will take you anywhere in downtown Charleston. But the best thing about this marina is the staff. They are terrific. They are always ready to help and are very friendly and approachable. We had some bad weather while we were there and the staff was right with us helping to adjust fenders when needed and even loaned us a couple for the duration. We had a staff member helping us at 4:30AM one morning! It’s Charleston so the dock fees are pretty high. But, you do get a great facility and great staff for your money.
Very friendly and courteous staff!! Great marina. Complimentary ride to and from downtown! Will be back!
Great stop. The staff was great.
Very accompany professionally run.
Stayed on the facedock here — friendly & helpful staff, Docks in good conditions, and glad the fuel dock was open as early as it was!
This marina is a delightful stop. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The shuttle is great and then there is Charleston... Great restaurants, a great grocery store close by and wonderful boat watching! Awesome place!
Had a non-functioning bow thruster in Osprey Marina in South Carolina. Phoned ahead to Chris, the Charleston City Sage Harbor Marina mobile service manager. He arranged a tech to meet me upon arrival the next day. The tech diagnosed the issue and they ordered parts. Parts arrived overnight and the tech along with a diver (Josh from “PC/DC”) installed the next day and I was on my way. Fabulous response and service. Highly recommend this outstanding mechanical and technical service.
it’s not cheap but it’s a great marina great facilities laundry and showers are excellent and very helpful staff
Wonderful facilities, shuttle service into downtown areas. Able to find competent mechanic for engine water pump problem-- work was done quickly and efficiently. Although dog-friendly with treats in the office, areas to walk the dog are limited.
Excellent service. Chris Ruhling was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. And the entire staff deserves to be complimented on their excellent customer service. So glad we stopped here on our way down the ICW from Connecticut to the Bahamas.
Very friendly staff as always. Lovely place to stay.
Always good. Great facilities and and great city
An excellent location, good facilities and a courteous and helpful staff make for a pleasant stay. Staff was great getting us into a tight slip inside on day-1, then most accommodating to help us move to the Mega Dock on day-2 for an easier departure the following morning. Shuttle rides to downtown, Harris Teeter and other stops are available most days and evenings.
Very friendly staff. Facilities are impressive!
Always a pleasure staying here
The marina was accommodating and worked with us to get our trawler into a very tight spot. I recommend the marina, however the outside face dock can be bouncy due to wind and wakes.
Really attentive people-clean, well organized and well located. Kudos to Adam who saved us when a dockline came loose at night during an intense high tide when tied up to the fuel docks. Highly recommend!
A dock hand helped us the first day when we pulled up only. They acted like they didn't know what to do and never saw them after the first day. When buying ice we were handed the key to the ice chest and was told were it was by the lady behind the counter. There was no other assistance offered. Not even to help unlock it knowing we were buying multiple bags. Kinda made us feel like if we wasn't on a yacht we really didn't matter. On a plus note, the restrooms and bath house was very nice and kept well cleaned.
One of my favorite Marinas because of location, security. And service
Great facility and helpful staff, on site maintenance group that was helpful and works Saturdays.
Great facility & top notch operation !!
This is our fifth visit to Charleston City Marina, and first since it was bought by Safe Harbor. We absolutely love this place and the location cannot be better. But the service has declined. When we arrived, the dockhand didn't know how to tie a cleat hitch. Then when we moved to another slip, docking assistance was not available when we wanted it. A few times there was no TP in the loos. The docks are getting quite tired and need attention. The wifi is hit and miss. It worked fine on H dock after two calls to Beacon, then on Y dock it was intermittent. First world problems, but when you are paying first world prices, one should get first world service.
Other than the fact that they are not a full service marina (no gasoline, etc), the Charleston City Marina provides excellent other amenities. For me, the great van service is really important since I come to Chucktown to eat and drink.
Nice, modern marina. Friendly, accomodating staff. Full service. Fuel at slip on mega dock. Shuttle service. However, long, long walk to office or restaurant. TERRIBLE WiFi...download 0.1 mbps. After hour on phone with service provider..gave up. They shoehorn boats VERY close together...bring your best docking skills, especially if between 2 boats already there. Been there twice...probably not again. Prefer Patriot’s Point.
Using Dockwa was simple, efficient and had a very good response time from request to confirmation....however....our dock assignment upon notification from us on arrival time was for a monohull - not the first time using Dockwa where the information that we are requested to fill out (LOA, Beam, Power, etc. was not conveyed to the marina). The staff worked quickly to rectify that, but upon arrival and approach to the proper berth, we were told it wasn't available and to stand-by. We ended up with the very last outside spot on the Mega-Dock (SE corner)....which seemed to be fine at first. Although boaters passing by did respect (somewhat) a courtesy "no-wake" zone near the docks, the large sport fishers came up to the edge of the mega-dock at full wake speed and only then dropped to fast idle - no consideration for their built up wake and its effect on the boats at our end of the floating dock. Thought a couple of those were going to rip out our cleats out as we heaved out of synch with the dock....no fault of the marina, again, good staff and they did offer to move us if we wanted....just a warning to any other transients that might get assigned to that end of the dock. Facilities were nice, although they hadn't started up their periodic "Happy Hour" nights yet "this season"- one of the reasons we liked coming to this marina. We will certainly return here, but be more selective (if allowed) on our berth location next time.
Mega competent and responsive staff. Compliments all around. Special kudos to Chris for arranging and consistently following up on a couple of service needs. For those side tied on the outside, wakes are a problem when the police are not present - hard to blame the marina for inconsiderate boaters, though - so a five star experience for us in spite of that annoyance.
Great Marina for a weekend stop. Lots of restaurant choices and sports bar with gigantic big screen. Live entertainment was also very cool. Only thing that could be an improvement is a laundry facility or option for boaters... Had a great time. Capt. T. Lyons
Dock staff was very attentive to my needs. They got me into the dock early so we could begin enjoying the city. Naomi connected me with a great crew to go to North Carolina. I got help onto and off of the dock in a very timely manor. The showers and heads are well maintained and clean. The shuttle service to town and over to West Marine was great. One of the best marina experiences I can think of...
Great facility, helpful and friendly staff. One suggestion - post a slip map on your website, it will make it much easier to those coming in for the first time.
Always have a fun time in Charleston and the Mega Dock is a great stop. Friendly staff and great service.
everyone was very helpful and service was prompt
Great as always. Ben was great
Employees very helpfull and kind. And we are rather near the historic town.
Use to love this marina but lately the service is lacking. They had me and two other boats circling for nearly a hour because nobody could be bothered to answer the radio or phone. Shuttle to town was cronically late by 20-30 minutes to the point we had to use Uber. WIFI very slow. Ok for a dollar a foot but unsat for premium prices.
Excellent marina, able and accommodating dockhands. Office called me the day before to confirm and inquire about arrival time. Good wifi and very nice bath facilities. Perfect spot for the total eclipse!
