I would say the marina is by far the best marina we have stayed in from ‘Massachusetts to NY. The docks, the staff and all the amenities are outstanding! Well done Mystic Seaport Museum Marina, Greg, Sarah and all of the staff! Thank you for accommodating all 12 boats and the amazing customer centric experience!
We had 5 boats all with reservations since January but they couldn’t figure out how to accommodate us when we arrived. They split us all up even after they confirmed we were all together. They allowed a boat to stay another day that was in one of the slips we had reserved. They made two of our boats sit outside the marina for over an hour because they had no idea where to put them even though there were more than two slips open. There was no dock master on duty on a Saturday, really? Two of those slips remained open the entire time we were there. Let me also mention the welcoming committee, the launch driver, he was very rude to people in our group as soon as we arrived and multiple times after. The entire experience at the marina was terrible.
We stayed at Mitchell Park Marina to attend the Monday night music in the park and they docked a huge yacht in front of our boats (there were 6) and blocked our view. Note there were several other places they could have easily docked that boat including just moving it up some since there were very few boats there. I asked the staff to resolve the issue and got no response and the people on the boat were extremely rude. We have stayed at the marina several times and similar issues have happened. Planning the dock space for the events should be pretty simple but customers are not considered or acknowledged. Also the communication is terrible. You cant connect them during off season to ask questions and in season it is also difficult to make contact. The positive is the location is great.
We were a group of 8 boats and we loved the marina, the facilities and staff! Well done Sam’s Star Island Marina and a big shout out to Ryan for managing our group so well.
