Great communication. Friendly, professional help docking and a good experience all around. We will definitely be back! It's an easy walk or bike ride to the ocean and historic areas and the setting is beautiful. Update - returned for another stop on our way north and once again a 5-star experience.
Our stay was one of the best marina experiences we've had to date. It's a great facility, well maintained and in a fairly protected area. The highlight by far is Ian the dock master and his crew. They are super helpful, amazingly professional and went out of their way to accommodate us and a number of other boats who rode out the impacts of Hurricane Nicole. Ian constantly checked on dock lines and boats, made sure people had extra lines and fenders in right places, offered suggestions about wind and current and generally were their answering questions before they could be asked. A wonderful experience and highly recommended.
It's best to think of this as a store with a marina attached, rather than the other way around. It doesn't appear they monitor the VHF and we had to dock at the fuel dock and walk to the store to find someone to coordinate fueling, even though we called on the approach. The pump out wasn't working and there was no assistance with docking, which was fine, but know that going in. A boat that came in after us had to move because the power pedestal at their slip didn't work. The restrooms are two single units attached to the store/gas station across a parking lot, and everyone staying at the marina has a key to them. There's an honor system sign you stick on the door to say it's occupied, but otherwise no way to prevent someone from unlocking the door while you're there. It is very convenient to town, and with some maintenance, repairs and better communication the marina will be worth a higher rating.
This was a quick overnight for us - arrived mid-afternoon and out super early the next morning. Communication was great, the dock hand was very helpful and volunteered to adjust our slip location when he found out we had friends staying at the marina so we would be closer. The facilities are clean, the pool was refreshing and it was a great stay all around.
A great six-night stay with plenty to see and do, well-maintained docks, and extremely clean facilities. As others have noted, the marina staff are municipal employees pulling double-duty, but they were extremely responsive and helpful and checked in on us any time they were at the dock for other needs. It can get bouncy in strong S or SSE winds, but it's manageable (we rode out Elsa's pass to the west of us). Highly recommend and I'm sure we'll be back.
Fantastic early-season stay overall. Deb was great greeting us for an Easter Sunday late afternoon arrival, and Craig was super friendly while we were there. The facilities are up-to-date and everything was clean. The only bummer was the shower water didn't get very hot - not as hot as the sinks. Otherwise, it was fantastic and we'll be back.
