Manteo Waterfront Marina is owned and operated by the town of Manteo and features a walk to everything location in the heart of the Manteo historic district with stores and multiple restaurants easily walkable. Slips feature water, electric, cable TV and WiFi.
The Manteo Waterfront Marina is located in a tranquil setting less than a mile from the Roanoke Sound. It is a small, deep, and well-protected harbor, and can accommodate vessels up to 150 feet in length. The marina has 53 slips. There are approximately 20 transient slips and 33 slips dedicated to seasonal and annual boaters. Rates are based on length-of-stay and size of boat. Pump out service is available at the marina and fuel is available nearby. Casual dining, shopping, and supplies are all within walking distance of the marina.
All slips feature 30 and 50 amp power, cable television, and free WiFi. The air conditioned comfort station located at the marina features separate men's and women's restrooms, clean showers, and coin operated washer and dryer. Boaters come to Manteo for its coastal charm and relaxed atmosphere. For information on what's happening in Manteo visit: www.discovermanteo.com
The Town of Manteo also provides free overnight tie-up with no services on a "space available" basis; or you may anchor in good holding between the Waterfront Gazebo and Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse and take your dinghy to the dock. Anchoring in Shallowbag Bay, Doughs Creek, and Scarboro Creek is restricted to 10 days in any 30 day period.
Great clean marina. Easy communication and pleasant place..love the town. Would definitely come back!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Manteo. Spent a week there on one of the t-heads. Bath/laundry facilities were very good and we were close to many restaurants and shops. Grocery store was about a half mile away and an easy walk or bike ride. There are a few Uber drivers in the area if you want to get over to the Nags Head beach.
Wonderful stop with laundry, showers and easy access to town.
Marina was well kept and maintained. Easy walking distance to town and historic Roanoke. Would give 5 stars if dock hands were available.
Crab pots to get there by boat was all over the channel. No help at the marina. Will not be back by boat.
Great location right in town, bathroom facilities nice, free ice when weekend dock master is there. Slips are very narrow and finger piers not long enough making it difficult to get on and off boats, essentially self service docking arrival and departure. Be very careful on channel entrance as warned as markers move due to shoaling. If you draw more than 5 feet you will be challenged. Transient docks are exposed to Southeast fetch. Crab pots are terrible and literally hundreds to dodge.
Nice friendly place with exception of several resident woman who have large dogs off leash right at the docks. One large brown dog charged me from 35-40 yards away at full speed barking, hair on back raised, and continued to bark viciously one foot from me until the owner could catch up. Scared the hell out of me. When I asked to leash the dogs, they claimed they did not have to in spite of local ordinance requiring all dogs on leashes. One woman claimed she was a permanent resident and only had to have under “voice control”. Suggested she read Manteo town ordinance 6-35, the towns leash law. Made the stay quite unpleasant.
Great facility and village! Chris was incredibily helpful. We'll always stop here when transiting North and South!
Beautiful spot, close to town. We stayed on the first T-Dock. There was no harbormaster but we were able to enter the harbor and dock easily using the confirmation email harbor approach video and dock map. These are fixed docks which we prefer. The facilities were clean and relatively close by. We will be staying here again. ~ Peregrina, 41' power vessel
Convenient location - close to shops and restaurants. Clean showers.
This used to be a great marina. It still is for facilities but not for the services provided. Since Carl retired they have part time dockmasters who have other duties in municipal government. We arrived on 4 SEP for the Labor Day weekend. No response on channel 16 and voice mail hell on the phone. We had to find our slip ourselves and had to handle the lines as well. In addition we came with 3 other boats and they squeezed two of us into slips that were entirely too narrow. I have a 13'6\" beam and we were in a 14' slip. by the time we put the fenders out we were jammed together as if we were rafted on the sandbar. This is nothing more than a municipal government failure.
Came in late. Another boat had a line blocking our designated slip. Dockmaster next day had no record of our reservation . I showed him the email receipt and reservation. Leg message on phone to use dock cart - no one got back to us. We always like Manteo .
Great location and the dock master Troy was very helpful.
Great marina and location. The people are very friendly. Manteo is one of those places you visit and are left with the feeling that “I could live here” and be very happy!
Can't beat the location, cool town just steps away. A bit exposed so if you don't mind the possibility of rolling a bit it's a great spot.
We liked the folks staying at the marina long-term and the quaint downtown so we enjoyed our stay. However, there was some confusion about moving from slip #2 to #13 as Barry informed us it was available. We told him that as soon as the weather was calm enough to do so we would consider moving. Slip #2 was VERY CHOPPY the evening we arrived after having cruised for over 10 hours wherein it took two fellow transients including my husband to come into slip and tie up. Barry showed up after the fact (said he was sailing) when we stressed that this slip was unacceptable. He then told us that this slip was meant for a catamaran or such; it was too big/wide for us to tie up lines appropriately. We moved to slip #13 the following morning and immediately felt more comfortable. Barry seemed upset with us and denied having even mentioned slip #13. It all was resolved but bottom line they're in deperate need a dockmaster at this marina. Dockwa is a tool not a dockmaster. Thank you.
We have stayed here before. Great town & the marina is close to everything. The channel is tricky especially with our 6’ draft but this marina sent us specific instructions & a video Really helpful! They also send emails with your slip location, codes for the showers, laundry, etc. Nice to know all this ahead of time
Same as last year. There is no DockMaster for Manteo Waterfront Marina. No answer on VHF ch 16. No help in docking. ( Dockmaster's office closed ) Manteo is using Dockwa in place of a DockMaster. We were assigned a slip that was impossible for us to get off the boat. Finger piers are too short. Marina is often bouncy from wind and wakes. We love the town and will keep coming back. Manteo needs to hire a permanent DockMaster to oversee the marina operations.
Lovely spot with lots of restaurant choices. Ace hardware and supermarkets within walking distance. Good laundry and shower facilities. Harbor master is part time and seldom there. Got most of our info from other boaters.
No Dockmaster but Barry from Maritime Museum was very helpful. Facilities are very nice. Overall great experience.
Beautiful area. Arrived Sunday just in time for dockhand and nice neighbor to help with lines. Peaceful quiet marina with beautiful view.
Great access to Manteo, Kitty Hawk and Nags Hags. Good facilities and docks. Quiet. No dockhands but great communication and easy navigation into slip.
Beautiful town and the marina was in a great location to let us enjoy this charming town of Manteo.
Nice spot. Very walkable town. Many things not open in the morning. We did take time to visit the museum this time.
Fixed wooden docks in excellent condition. Communication from marina via email most helpful. Laundry, bathroom and showers clean. Need a rental car, call the local Ford dealer. Carefully watch Aqua Maps for depths on entry.
Great facility, nice private showers. Close to everything. We’ll worth the trip.
Had a nice, safe stay at the beautiful Manteo Waterfront Marina. Clean Restrooms and showers, as well as the laundry room. Walking distance to many shops, bars and grocery stores. Highly recommend.
Good marina, good people. Only issue is the channel coming into the harbor is a little dodgy for a boat drawing 6'.
Could not be easier. We have stayed before. Great little town, can walk to reasonable grocery store, auto parts, and hardware.
4.5 stars. We love Manteo. Would be 5 stars if we could have made contact with someone prior to arrival or if the dockmaster was onsite during posted hours to check in. Be that what it may, we got the slip we preferred and arrived without advance reservations. Was perfectly quiet and what we were hoping for. For Mariners, the army corps of engineers maintains local hydrological reports to help with navigation. If you’ve got a 6’ draft like us, you will do some dredging on your way in and out of Manteo. Study the charts in advance against the survey reports and try to ignore the depth finder a bit. There’s deeper water to be found once you are at the dock. Power pedestals and water connections are showing their marine age, but they’re still in working order.
After winding our way into the harbor with our 6' draft, thanks to their helpful video sent with their reservation confirmation, we spent 6 nights in Manteo. The town has plenty to see and do. The marina has all the amenities one might want, with the exception of fuel, and things are well maintain and clean. The dockmaster is only their weekend afternoons in late October/early November, when we were there, so you may not have help with your lines on arrival or departure. We'd definitely stop again.
Wonderful marina and very helpful, knowledgeable Dockmaster and staff. Beautiful views, perfect location and super clean. Thank you for a great stay- we really didn't want to leave! We will be back!
Easy registration on line as well as payment arrangements. Thank you. Great communication!
The Marina was quiet, docks are fixed, power was ample. Tide of only a foot made tying to 80’ T pier simple. Piers were out in front of what seemed to be a condo building. Arrived on a Friday night at 7:30 and a young lady off a boat was kind enough to help with our lines. Dockmaster sent WiFi and bath codes via email and all was good. Dockmaster not available until noon on Saturday? Departure at 8:00am the next morning. I would definitely come back. P.S. there is a weekend Blue Grass festival which is a short walk over the bridge which is worth catching. Oct 22-23rd
We have been coming to Manteo for over 10 years. Always enjoy visiting. It is too bad that Karl Jordan has retired as the dock master. He was the best. We self docked ourselves at the T head which was not a problem. There are always friendly boaters to help dock our boat
Very clean and well run marina. The proximity to town is perfect. The townspeople are friendly and welcoming.
Great stop. Good downtown location, good showers/restroom/laundry facilities, dockmaster very responsive despite limited operating hours. Very good transient rate.
Great for sailboats and other power or cruisers. We were fishing so the fact they didn’t have filet table or fish cleaning station wasn’t good for us. Also would suggest better communication with dock master. Needed parking and didn't hear back from him. all in all i would recommend. the town is super cute and restaurants and shopping was much better than most.
Excellent amenities: clean bathroom & laundry facilities easy walk from slip. Strong secure WiFi & cell (T-Mobile) service. Dock master only on site during afternoon but very helpful as needed. Restaurants & shops easy walk; groceries about half-mile away.
Excellent facilities and great staff. The town is a fascinating historical area with a great man things to explore and do.
Great location, very sturdy docks & Dockmaster stayed over an hour late to help us dock in 20knt winds. All services are close. Town water is treated but a little earthy (noticeable in restaurants too) we draw 5’ and approach from Albermarle Sound is straightforward using Aquamaps & USACE sonar data. Definitely worth the trip & using Dockwa makes reservations easy since dock master office is only manned part time
A wonderful stay in Manteo. The marina is literally in town so it's a easy walk to everything! Nice docks and nice people, what more could you ask for. Rent a car and make the trip to Kitty Hawk. A bucket list item for this crew.
A great six-night stay with plenty to see and do, well-maintained docks, and extremely clean facilities. As others have noted, the marina staff are municipal employees pulling double-duty, but they were extremely responsive and helpful and checked in on us any time they were at the dock for other needs. It can get bouncy in strong S or SSE winds, but it's manageable (we rode out Elsa's pass to the west of us). Highly recommend and I'm sure we'll be back.
Seems as the City Docks could use a little more hands-on support (Dock Master) for the boaters other than that is a great place. We've been visiting the city docks on and off for around 20 years
We always love Manteo and the dockhands are always there and very helpful. We were able to get last minute reservations for the 4th of July and watched the fireworks from the boat. Great place, great time!
well protected marina. new docks. no fuels. Dockmaster also runs Maritime museum. Decent laundry bathroom facilities. beautiful waterfront town with shops restaurants distillery and brewery. lots of history. uber to enterprise outer banks. rental cars for beach riding and wild horse viewing. ferry to Ocracoke. Corolla lovely. so much history.
Marina was good. Very protected harbor. The restaurants left a lot to be desired. Grocery shopping a half mile walk.
Great Town Docks were nice good power. Bathrooms were always clean
Manteo is always a great boating destination. Easy stroll from your boat to unique local shops and restaurants overlooking the harbor; history; music; ice cream! Response to radio calls on 16 may be tardy. Reservations by dockwa only.
Easy to get in and out of the Marina. The amities were good, laundry, showers, bathrooms. We love the town, we spent three nights there, and will look forward to coming back again.
We had a great time in Manteo. As a family with two small kids the playground next to the marina was the most appreciated feature. The town is cute, the nearby Roanoke Island Festival Park is great for taking a walk and the marina is not over crowded and neat. Only docking was quite sketchy with strong southerly winds and lack of helping hands on the dock. But overall, we can recommend staying this marina.
Our stay was awesome! What a charming town - we really loved it. The marina staff were very friendly. Being off-season they are staffed on the weekends and not during the weekdays. If you need to pump your head, you'll need to wait until the weekend when staff is there. But during peak season the marina is staffed. I would check with the marina first if you need a hand docking and also to get the local knowledge regarding turning out of the Roanoke Sound to the channel that takes you to the marina. The water can be thin and they can tell you what ATON's to stay to or away from. The town of Manteo and the Roanoke are beautiful! I highly recommend a stay here.
People were great , place was clean . It would be nice to have a change machine in the laundry facility or a way to charge it to my account . Also would be super nice to have a debit machine anywhere . Other than that it was Awesome ! We hope to return in a few months. Same as fall 2020 .. we paid 14.00 for 4 small Loads of laundry . We had to go find quarters. Seems kinda crazy . I am happy To pay , I just don’t Understand why there is not a human or a change machine near by . You could make money with a soaps and suds . You have an empty / unoccupied office and a really Large space .
We had a nice two day stay at Manteo. This is a protected harbor in a delightful small town with a rich history. The docks are in great shape with good water and electricity. Tidal range less than a foot. Lots of nearby restaurants and shops. Friendly Dockmaster and townsfolk. Very dog friendly. All in all a very nice stop. We have a 41’ trawler with a 4’ draft.
While the little downtown is cute, the boating experience was pretty mediocre. The marina's southernmost fixed docks are exposed to a southeast wind, making the night a bit lumpy. When we got up in the morning, the boat was literally covered in a million mayflies or midges. Not only were they everywhere, they left green dots of poop all over the entire exterior of the boat. It took us hours to clean it all off. The same bugs were swarming all over every grassy area near the water. We will not likely be returning.
Everything at the Marina was just fine. We gad an easy t head dock for our 63’ Hatteras. Unfortunately we did not get a chance to do much more than tie up after dark and then depart before sunrise. We had no personal interaction with anyone. The big negative with that is we had no report on how shallow the channels were on approach. The marina advertises they can accommodate 100, plus boats but it was a blessing that we arrived at high tide. We still had little or no water under our keel and props. It was very tense. We had to leave at 5 am to make the next high tide and sweated bullets all the way out again in the dark. We tried calling but couldn’t get marina help nor advice from BoatUS. It’s a beautiful place but check the tides and chart carefully, know your draft! Dockwa is a great app but taking personalization out of boating is not a good thing. Better knowledge of the approach would have been a good thing.
Marina is within walking distance to everything! Marina wifi was excellent and bathrooms were very clean. No cleats on the dock just pilings so we weren't prepared well for that.
Hi there! We LOVED our stay! The only reason I give 4 stars is that we could not get a hold of the marina as easily as most from the water or when we got there. Calls went straight to VM and Marina did not answer channel 16. We didn't know if we were in the right place until after we docked. But, once we got there, a gentleman (don't remember name) came out and helped us with a few questions. So that's good:)
The marina is clean & well kept. It’s just a few steps down the dock to town filled with restaurants, cafes, clothier’s, kayak/boat rentals, ice cream & novelty shops and more. Grocery & hardware stores are close by too. Make sure to visit the Roanoke Island Festival Park, easy walk over the bridge from the marina and more cool things to do there. If you like to walk or run they’ve a scenic path around the park perimeter to enjoy. There’s a museum & replica of an old sailing ship that’s a treat to see & visit. The marina prices are reasonable and overall a great stop not to be missed on the ICW.
Pleasant stay at Manteo waterfront Marina. Everything within walking distance. Clean accommodation. Will definitely stay again on our trip south in the fall.
this marina is a pleasant getaway for a weekend, the amenites ample. Docking is easy fixed docks, location is great for people watching, walking to eateries, and shopping. The nearest grocery store is about 1/2 mile from marina, but a pleasant walk thru the quiant streets of Manteo. It's a bustling area in the summertime, otherwise rather quiet in the off season. Reaching this marina can be a bit tricky thru Shallowbag bay as you'll need to nearly hug the markers as shoaling has caused shallow entry into the area. check your maps/charts and go slow.
