Hasn't changed much except there are no longer enough toilet and shower facilities since they blew up the poolside building. Also lost power early in the morning due to electric issues with a step up transformer that they'd installed between the boat and the pedestal. My boat has a low voltage setting so I didn't need it anyway but the power situation could be better. Staff and dock hands are great. Bar scene is great. Pools are nice.
Generally a very good stay. The bars do produce some drunks who unplugged some boats and in our case threw a bunch of uprooted plants on the stern. But that’s not the marina’s fault. The WiFi is useless but otherwise they do a great job.
Pros: great location, great Dockmaster Cons: not fancy, facilities just ok, be aware of shallows just outside marina
Great location of course, excellent dock hands, better than you might expect facilities including laundry room. The only negatives are the WiFi doesn’t really work and some 3am dock party woke us but overall a very nice little marina.
Pros: fuel in slip, good walkable restaurants Cons: fuel cost $1 more than it should, docks don’t float (only fixed), Harbor is shallow and tricky to navigate, random screws sticking out of pylons scape boat, dock hands inexperienced
This is a working marina - mostly dedicated to rack storage and freedom rentals. You can’t get to fuel dock or pump out as a result. Also very busy with charter boats. They are nice people but like they can’t even direct you in to the slip. They told me not to take the marked channel but there is no other good way in to the marina. It’s all very chaotic.
It’s such a great spot. Only negatives are poor to no cell service (for both ATT and VZ) and somewhat undersized lines for bigger boats (it would be really nice if they provided double pennants).
This is a great spot with accommodating staff. There are Both fixed and floating tie ups. The location is very convenient to local bars and restaurants. Highly recommend Grain rooftop beer garden if that’s your thing. While it’s a better location than Tidewater imo there is no fuel at waterside.
Good layover spot - easy access from LI Sound, fuel dock, great restaurant (Fresh Salt), accommodating and friendly staff.
Payne’s is great if you know what to expect - it’s very old school block island with No frills whatsoever and they like it that way. You often get boxed in or rafted off other boats but it all mostly works. It would be nice if they monitored VHF but the preferred, well only, means of communication is shouting with them from the (usually inaccessible) fuel dock. But good people, good times.
Maidstone is a fantastic marina in an ideal location. Slip was a bit tight for my 18.5’ beam but Eric was extremely helpful. Highly recommended.
