DescriptionThere is no anchoring in Breton Cove proper due to moorings, but it is possible to anchor north of mooring field with good holding in mud. Watch out for strong currents.

We recently picked up a mooring in Breton Cove from the Newport Harbormaster. We were grateful to have gotten one of the last moorings, since nothing was available in the inner harbor. The problem is that this location is exposed to swells from traffic in the East Passage. Large freight ships pass by in the middle of the night. It's not a comfortable and well protected location. We got hit with a swell in the middle of the night that literally caused one of my kids to fall out of bed and water to come into our side port hole. Avoid unless it's your only option.
