A little rocky with the boat traffic but all in all the best spot to see the city, ferry service next door and great accommodations at the resort. Would stay here again.
It's a great spot, we've come several times. We prefer it to the downtown docks, the free ferry is right here, runs often, and we can be away from the bustle of River St. The pool is great, food, bar, all good. Like all docking on this river, there are lots of container ships passing 24x7, plus workboats, ferries, etc., so it can get quite rocky. Bring lots of fenders and lines.
Easy, great amenities, ferry access free and quick
Very good elctrical and water service..aatached to a wonderful hotel
The resort is fantastic. The amenities are also great. The engineering department helped us tie up very nice. The taxi to downtown is very convenient. We will come back.
I was forced to pay for the facilities/resort fee but never used any of it and they never provided a check-in process to provide a gate key so we had to walk around to another gate. Also, we rented a car and they would not allow us to use their parking services - after complaining, they allowed us to park at their golf course 5-minute walk away (no security, open to weather). Basically don't expect Bonvoy service with the hotel (I'm Platinum Elite and they would not even look me up) - you are 2nd class guest when using their docks. Dock master was fast to respond online which was great. Experienced dock hands are not really on site and I think they send hotel maintenance people to the dock to help with lines if needed if you call them. Nice free ferry service to the side with all the action. Nice view of the city from the dock and slightly quieter for sleeping than being on the city side.
We did not stay. We had a pending reservation but the Westin had not confirmed it a dsay and a half later. We called the Westin and talked with various people three times and they ever returned our calls. As it turns out, they don't have anyone assigned to handle the docking.
Very nice facilities a short walk from the property. No washing machine, but if you are looking for an easy dock & you are pretty self sufficient, it's a fine choice. Very dog friendly!
Fabulous stay at Westin Hotel Savannah’s dock. Met by Stuart, General Manager and Marc, Manager (great line handler in a suit coat)! Full use of gym, pool, spa and golf course. Pricey but great view of all the container ships going upriver. We will be back!
Marina is closed. After no return call from marina and no response on Dockwa, the concierge at the Marriott informed us the marina is closed.
Nice dock, plenty of room. Hotel was extremely friendly and accommodating.
Gotta give these guys an A+. Beautiful dock, facility and location. The staff was very accommodating and helpful, and you can believe we’ll be back.
No service would be too nice- they asked us to call - by phone - 30 min before arrival (we did) the. To call again 10 min before arrival (we did) to finally not show ! Not enough pofs on the dock to accommodate all the boats and tons of wake and noise from the boat traffic and people from the hotel Bad bad bad - and expensive for the qualitymay be better across the river at the city dock
No one on dock to catch lines. No services, laundry, showers The hotel doesn’t know you are there. But right in Savannah! Free ferry to town from your location.
You’ve got your own private resort steps from your door! Pool, fitness center, golf, activities for kids, all great! Free ferry to town. The river has a strong current and you do get wakes from the cargo ships, barges and tugs going by as it is an exposed face dock. The dock itself has water, electric and sides of dock have a nice bumper. Lots of heavy cleats. Showers are a shuttle ride away in fitness center. Not for everyone but we enjoyed it.
THEY NEVER RESPONDED! We canceled our trip because they never confirmed our booking! Return my money!
No power, no harbormaster, no food at the hotel at 3:00 pm, charged resort fee. They did agree to discount the bill.
A nice hotel if you do have a boat No electricity or water just a tie up No effort by the hotel to remedy the issue The staff didn’t know they had a dock with boats on it Required transportation to the spa to have a shower The ferry across to Savannah was nice but restrictive because of it’s schedule There is no redeeming value to stay here I am currently requesting a refund for services not provided
What they don't tell you when docking at the Westin. Call ahead for docking assistance....no one shows up. The docks are under repair...no electric...I didn't check for water. Repair barge taking up half of the available slips replacing/repairing pilings. The water taxi runs every 30 minutes to two stops on the Savannah city side of the river plus the Westin. I have no idea how you access the amenities they advertise. Easy docking even with active currents. Get the gate code before you leave your boat...security doesn't seem to be an issue.
Great place to stay in Savannah. There is a free water taxi that leaves every 20 minutes to get on the other side of the river (downtown Savannah). Docks were torn apart during a storm this past summer. All new power has been completed and works great 240v yeah!! The dock aren’t bad now but should be newly rebuilt in another month. The amenities are outstanding (golf, pool, hot tub, workout facility and a fire pit in the evening with free s’mores). A great place to relax after a fun day or evening in Savannah. Alligator Sole is our top restaurant pick!!!
Very easy. Limited capacity dockage but wasn't a problem for us. Highly recommend smaller boats tie up on the inside of the dock due to tug boat wake. Otherwise, very nice facility.
The amenities at the Westin are great. But the Dock is in dire need of repair.
It has potential to be a very good facility. Half the electrical pedestals don't work and the voltage on the the ones that work is low. No water hookups except for a long garden hose to share provided by the hotel. For the price?...not worth it. There is a free ferry to the otherwise right on premises. Ferry boat wakes your boat every 20-30 minutes thought. Rumor has it the City is building a new marina in the future right next to the hotel.
Perfect for what we were looking for. There is some dredging occurring in front of docks at this time, which is pretty loud. This however will likely be short lived.
One day arrived late , left out early. The hotel are was very nice. On a River that is moving. Also could be heavy traffic. Boats of all sizes.
It was disappointing. First, the dock fee was $104.52 which included $33.90 as a marina maintenance fee. When we got there, there was no water or hoses available to claen the boat and flush the engine. Getting off the dock was a chore since it required a pass code. I called the desk twice, and got an answering machine. After scalling the gate, I went to the check in desk and found 4 people behind the desk, but yet noone was available to take a call. After some discussion,I was able to get someone to provide a hose, but it was too sort to reach my engine for flushing. Overall, a disappointing experience.
My favorite dock so far on our trip up the waterway! Beautiful location with ferry service every 30 minutes across the waterway!! The staff was wonderful especially Dennis! Great communication! The Westin is beautiful with wonderful amenities!! We can’t wait to stay longer on our return trip!!!
The dock was fine and served its purpose. We have a small center co sole boat, not a yacht so I was happy that we could park on the inside if the dock as it helped break the waves. We didn't need power so we didnt use any hook ups but would have liked to have had an ice machine. There could have been another trash can as there was only one on the entire dock and it was at the other end from where we parked. Its definitely a self serve dock and that was fine for us as we have a small boat. Also if you are staying at the hotel make sure you have them remove the resort fee from your room bill since it is automatically charged on your parking bill.
Great location. Many electric podiums not working and in disrepair. Usual hotel resort fee of 33 dollars added to price of dockage Very nice pool .
We love Savanah and give them three stars for location. Very close to a free water taxi to take you across the river to downtown Savanah. We called 20 minutes ahead as their acknowledgement requested. We asked them to have someone on the dock to catch lines. They didn’t seem to understand why, but said they “would try to find someone” to do it. No one came. One of the two requested 50 amp service plug ins did not work. We called and were told they would send an engineer to check it. Again, no one came. The dock is in decent shape and they are supposedly going to do some refurbishment. But this is a hotel with a dock, not a marina.
The hotel and resort are excellent, the issue is the poorly maintained dock with metal bars sticking out on the west end, and getting hit by large boat wakes hourly due to an active shipping lane. Free ferry convenient to get downtown.
Beautiful pool and easy access to downtown by ferry. The docks were nice.
Marginal dock. No dock master, no assistance or even direction where to dock. No one answered the phone or appeared even upon request at front desk of hotel. Power and water worked fine. Good location. Good place to stay just hope you don’t need anything because you shouldn’t expect to speak with anyone.
Nice location. Nobody was here to greet us and help us with lines. It is across the River from town but there is a free ferry so that isn’t an issue. The dock is in disrepair at one end. There are no typical marina services. While they do have electricity and power, there is no fuel or pump out. If you plan to do a few days in Savannah and can use the ferry, you may enjoy using the pool here. But if you want to see the historic area and have only one day. Go to the other side of the river.
Awful! This marina should Not be listed as a marina. It’s broken floating docks with few electric outlets. However, Dennis did make it right for us with a refund.
Very average, and very, very expensive. Both the dockage, and the hotel amenities. No dockmaster, and very poor docks, and electric service. I’m not sure you can really call yourself a marina?
Marina staff was great, location is amazing and the Westin facilities are superb, however there is not a lot of protection and contêiner ships passing every 5 min will shake your boat. If you are a soft sleeper that may be a problem
It is a dock with essentially no amenities. The BR are in the hotel but to get to the shower I would suggest UBER. Had to fiddle with the pedestal to get voltage going. No trash containers or ice available. Hotel restaurants are closed except Starbucks. It is a short ride across the river to downtown Savannah—-that is the best part.
Using Covid as an excuse, the Hotel did not have any restaurants open, nor provide room service. Terrible customer service!
No one at dock to help. No one answers radio when approaching. Dock has large bolts sticking out which damage boats. No information provided on gate code.
Take this for the pure truth and from a couple that uses marinas several times a year....DON'T USE THIS MARINA! In fact, it is not a marina at all! My husband and I called into the Marina and someone answered and asked us to turn to channel 61 and no one ever answered us back. We called into marina again and lady instructs us to switch over to same channel again....still no answer. We finally decided to just tie off out in front of our hotel, Westin Harbor Resort and walked in to ask front desk where the marina is. We told the receptionist we were tied off out in front of the hotel but needed to dock at marina. She informed us that we were docked at the marina. I then proceeded to tell her, "No ma'am, we are only tied up in front of your hotel. Where our boat is tied at this moment is NOT a marina." She then replied back, "Yes that out front is the Westin Harbor Marina." Ummmhhh! I have never bashed any business, hotel, marina etc. But this I felt like must be known! The Westin Harbor Marina is NOT a marina. You tie up to the floating dock that could probably hold maybe 6 boats comfortably (20-27 footers , no bigger). No trash cans, no gas, no dumping station, no hands on deck, no ice, no showers, bathrooms etc. We paid a little over $100 a night to tie our boat up. We have a 27ft Sea Ray. There was a gate to the one ramp going down to the boat but it was only locked one time we went to it. This is an FYI. If you need all the amenities that a true marina has, this one is not for you!
The docks and power pedestals were in poor shape; dock help was non existent for over 15 minutes. Current and wakes are significant. Charged resort fee even though most facilities were not open.
Power issues. No dockmaster, hotel staff seemed clueless. May due to current conditions
A wonderful, friendly lady at Dockwa assisted our booking. We received a warm welcoming reception from Dennis upon arrival & enjoyed an excellent stay tied up alongside hotel frontage with convenient use of pool & hot tub. Would certainly stay again ( no problem encountered with wash from passing cargo ships). Thank you for a well managed resort- stay. Yacht Sandpiper, UK.
Possibly the worst Marina I've ever stayed at. No service, river traffic very heavy and runs all night. After 3AM we gave up sleeping. I've stayed a hundreds of marinas and this is the worst by far. Avoid at all costs. A better alternative is Thunderbolt Marina. Close to Savannah and great marina.
No one at hotel seemed to be in charge of marina. huge dredging operation going on IN front of hotel marina making it noisy and uncomfortable.
Their dock needs serious work. Short power issues, had to move the boat 3 times before outlets worked, and no direct experienced marina staff.
Marina staff was excellent. But, this marina should have ice available. We arrived after 20 hours at sea in 98F heat, totally out of ice. You all should have at least 10lb bags of ice available. This was disappointing. Next, there was not a 30amp power outlet available. Another boat was plugged into a splitter, but the other half of the splitter was terribly burned or shorted, and I do not plug my boat into shorted or burned outlets. So I did not plug in power for the night. You should have an electrician inspect your electrical. This marina is too exposed to power vessel wakes. Extremely rough being tied to a dock, and I feel I was lucky to not have damage after a night at this dock. These three points make this dock unacceptable for overnight tie ups.
The location was good, having access to the resorts amenities was good and free water transportation across the river to the river front was good. There was no assistance in docking and the docks are in poor condition. With all the current and waves from the commercial traffic, we had a fender push up from between the vessel and dock causing the boat to rest up against the dock. Under normal circomstznces that would of been fine. However, with the protective cushioning being gone, it left quarter inch lag screws protruding which did damage to our vessel. Pictures are available for anyone’s viewing.
The Westin is not a marina There is no dockmaster - - no one to help with lines The docks are in disrepair Bad experience
the hotel/resort is fabulous - the marina is basically a long dock with broken power/water and fenders. no dock hands - no dockmaster, Also, if you dont mind lots of boat traffic and wakes and horns all day i guess its ok - in the center of Savannah and near the water taxi, so thats good, but the docks are in such disrepair... especially at $2.50/foot/nite.
Old dock. Questionable cleats. Hotel itself is very nice. Country club facilities (showers, etc.) are great but a few minutes away by hotel van. Price is too high. A doller a foot might be about right. Currently paying $2.75/ft.
The dock was in poor condition with large sections of the rub rail missing. The hotel staff seemed to be unaware of some of the included amenities with the dock fee like showers, room service, and access to pool area. Overall, very expensive stay with very poor accomidations.
Westin is still a wonderful resort, but they have failed to maintain the marina. The dock rub rail was missing in about 50% of the dock. They had fastened small fenders to help protect boats, but there were sections with exposed bolts, etc. when we tried to fill with water, the water was turned off due to a busted pipe (according to another boater, it had been that way for a week). They fixed it so we were able to get water. The security gate does not lock. When spending over $3/ft PLUS resort fee, I expect the marina maintenance to be perfect.
Reservations were met with confusion. Only way to contact Weston was through switchboard. Transferred several times regarding docking. No dockmaster and no assistance. No VHF at hotel to speak with anyone. Finally docked we were met with several pedestal not working. Rub rails missing, and cleats loose. Bags of trash on dock and no trash cans. After speaking with manager about conditions after paying for hotels services and being met with below average services he indicated he would credit our bill. Never happened! He said said he couldn’t add a dock master or even get a hand held radio, only having a couple of boats a week. I told him that the Weston advertises those services. He went on to say that property was to become a Marriott in two days. I would hope they will do better. One trawler left and went to the Savannah side and a Cat docked in front of me and never checked in. No one from the Weston seemed to care.
What a disappointment, and from a Westin. Where to start: soon after confirming my Dockwa reservation the Westin sent me a message saying that there is no dock staff but if I need help tying up I should call such & such a phone number when I get close. I did...several times but kept getting voicemail. There's quite a current in the river and my wife can't jump off the boat, but luckily a guy who had just docked came out of his boat and took our lines. The Westin's email also said that half of the electric pedestals don't work so try to tie up at the east end of the dock, which I did. I got power but the water on our pedestal didn't work and the next pedestal was too far away for my hose, so no water. I called the phone number again and asked about the Wifi, and someone came down and gave my wife a folder of information, then left. So we could get on the (strong) Wifi and we figured out about the showers, but no info about trash disposal. Plus the dock itself is in very rough condition. The hotel is lovely and we love Savannah, but the Westin should either step up their game or stop pretending they're a marina.
Really enjoyed our stay. The club house for showers was fantastic. Convient access to the city via the ferry right next to the dock. Recommended!!
Access to the hotel amenities is great, regular ferry to town works well. There are no dock hands to help tie up. Savannah is a very nice stop.
Dock was broken, no one there to help with docking, could not get in touch with person in charge of docks, gate locked and could not get out of docking area.
There was no space, was not worth the $70 I spent when others just pulled up and dock for no fee. I had a lot of trouble getting help and biggest problem is there is no fuel to be found anywhere! Not worth it. Hotel is nice but they need to meet the needs of boaters better.
I’ve been going by boat to the Westin now for twelve years and I haven’t seen the dock in this bad of shape. Definitely needs some attention to the dock. Hotel and staff ere Great as usual!!
We were the only boat on the dock. Great hotel, the kids loved the pool and easy access to down town on the free ferry, which runs every 30 mins. frok the hotel. We highly recommend this spot & will come back again
Nice, simple dock. Great location right at the Savannah Belles ferry which gives access to Savannah across the river. Secured gate was not closed fully and code-locked on the morning of our departure so security was not optimal, though this was simply a matter of maintenance required on the dock access gate to assure the full closing and locking of it as folks pass through. Some dock cleats were not fully secure but most were. Overall a good, no-frills dock.
Priced high. They don't us VHF channel 16. Phone communications are bad because nobody knows about the marina. There is no help for docking. We were continually rocked by tugs, ferrys, and container ships (tie up good and use all of your fenders)
