Kay, the dock master couldn’t be nicer or more helpful Only complaint is too dark at night. And long walk to land.

The marina is nice. Getting through the creek entrance at low tide is sketchy. A little local knowledge would have been helpful, but the dockhand wasn't willing or able to give any.

Okay - so - I don't like giving two-star reviews without talking to someone at the facility first, but there wasn't time to do so while there because we were only there to sleep one night. We arrived in the early evening and left early the next morning. 1) The site is beautiful - no question about that. Getting into the channel is a challenge however, and I'm happy that on the evening we arrived, it was close to high tide. There was a missing marker at the entrance that made using their provided "local knowledge" dicey - no way to line up that marker with the ICW marker as they instructed. Plus they are very close to the entrance of the sound, and on this night, the swells were not kind. What I figured out rather quickly is that Navionics "autoroute" DOES give you the best path through - in fact, it seems as if it was plotted using the "local knowledge" the marina provided. We used it both on the way in and the way out without issue in our 3.5' draft Marine Trader, and on the way out, we were three hours past high tide. Just note that the Navionics chart shows you navigating THROUGH land at one point. We didn't see any, and the depth sounder didn't indicate it either. Also, the local knowledge provided had the same route, so - I'm not sure why there's land on the chart at that point. 2) We arrived after 5, so the dockmaster wasn't there. There were two employees there to help us tie up however - and FYI, the current rips through there, so you're going to need it. However, as we were on approach, one of the two hands left to assist a small powerboat that arrived at the fuel dock, leaving only one person to assist. What we didn't know at that point was that the person he left behind was untrained and had no idea how to tie up a boat. Leaving a new hand alone to assist a large vessel in that current isn't a good plan - and if you do, you need to let the captain know so they can plan to attempt to self-dock rather than count on the dock hand to provide assistance. Simply letting a new hand twist in the wind is a recipe for disaster, including injuries and damage to boats and docks. I know I certainly wouldn't want to get tossed into the water in that current. 3) From the docks, the facilities look awesome. It looks like it may be a marina for a neighborhood on Skidaway Island, but I'm not sure. In any case, the issue I had is that none of the facilities are climate controlled at all. There are two bathrooms right next to the docks that may as well be outhouses. The light didn't work in one, and the other was a sweatbox, even with the door and window (no screen) open. The shower facilities located in the main building were nicer on the inside with tile and what-not, but the lack of climate control and reliance on external ventilation created a different set of problems. 4) About eleven PM that evening, a group of young men arrived and were roaming the docks with flashlights. It looked like they were rummaging through dock boxes and looking at boats - they left a little after midnight. Maybe they were locals whose parents owned boats there - I don't know. But it was a bit unnerving to see people just able to roam the docks freely in the early morning hours. Our stop here was motivated by the fact that we did the Georgia ICW in one day - from Jekyll to Skidaway. We were not able to anchor so it was the only choice we had. And trying to get to any other marina closer to Savannah would have added two hours or more to the trip and had us arriving long after dark. Had we arrived earlier, our visit may have been different, but after the docking experience, the other stuff made even more of an impression. If you're passing through and you absolutely need a place to stop and spend the night, it's VERY secluded and quiet, and you will sleep like a rock. Just be prepared to use your on-board facilities.

This is a wonderful, peaceful marina with the friendliest staff. The island is full of shade trees and there's a golf cart for use. We were delayed in our departure due to engine trouble and the need for a vet. The folks at the Marina, Kate notably, have been so helpful to us until we get on our way.

We love this place. The Harbor master is fantastic and everyone else we met very friendly. The restaurants are great. The golf courses are amazing. The only issue is the entrance to the harbor a little tricky.

Beautiful marina and location just off the ICW, follow winding marked channel in. We draw 4.5’ and went in and out at high tide, saw 16’ of water. Not walking distance to anything other than a beautiful neighborhood. Screened in deck with tables and chairs, bathrooms out on dock. Helpful staff!

Delegal was a 5 for what we needed. Close to friends on Skidaway Island. No frills with exception of free use of some resort facilities and a golf cart to get to them and a nearby Publix. Dock hand present from 0900-1700. This time of year be prepared for bugs.

Mike, the dock master provided us great instructions for entering the creek via text. We also followed another boat into the marina. It’s quite shallow at low tide! Quaint marina, we arrived after hours and tied up on the gas dock (A Dock) as instructed. Unfortunately, we had a series of issues right from the start. At first we thought our boat was having electrical issues. We had power initially but then our A/C went off. It turned out that the 50 amp plug on the pedestal was faulty so we moved our cable to another plug. That lasted about an hour and then the entire “A” dock lost power. Our generator wouldn’t start (fixed that the following day) so we had no power or A/C all night! Very humid! The next morning Mike arrived, tried to reset the breakers to no avail. Apparently, this has happened before. We were able to get diesel at a fair price and be on our way. Perhaps, a refund would be in order. Just say’n.

Marina Response:
Good morning Karen, Thank you for your review on your recent stay at Delegal Creek Marina. We do apologize that there was a power interruption during your stay. We had recently replaced the main distribution panels at all of our docks and did not expect this issue. I would be happy to extend a complimentary overnight stay at Delegal Creek Marina in the future for the inconvenience. Let us know when you plan to be back in the area and we will be sure to accommodate for you. Thank you again and Best Regards. Marinas Director, The Landings Association.

Beautiful Marina! Courtesy golf cart to provision at Publix and maybe grab a pizza. This is our 3rd time stoping here and it's always a pleasure.

Delightful location, very nice marina and Sam on the dock could not have been any nicer. What a friendly, helpful, polite young man. Thank you Sam. Fuel prices were very good too. \nThe marina has a map on their web site for the entrance channel. Follow that map and you are in safely. Don’t be discouraged by the incorrect charting on your chart plotter. Navionics is very accurate here too with sonar chart turned on. (Navionics charts are more accurate in stable channels)

Picturesque setting with top notch docks. Not alot of transient space, but it is well worth the stay. Kocals are super friendly. The marina has a loaner golf cart that can get you to Publix. Bike and walking trails through a lovely community of upscale houses and shade trees. My dogs rate it 5 Star, too! We found an excellent dog park during our golf cart ride. This was our 2nd stay. Deep draft boats should avoid though. We draw 3.5 ft.

Beautiful marina--feels like you are at anchor even though you are tied up to sturdy floating docks. Very reasonably priced, especially with a BoatUS discount. Nice bathhouses and laundry facilities. Plus you get access to a complimentary golf cart to travel around the island and make a trip to Publix if need to reprovision. Marina staff give you clear instructions for how to enter their channel. We went in and left about 1.5 hours on either side of high tide and didn't see less than 7 feet.
