Recently hauled my boat out at Sterling Marina, they are professional & easy to get along with. Patty is a straight forward individual, my hubby and I have a great deal of respect for the marina and her. We worked on our boat ourselves, thankful she is knowledgeable about fixing blisters and the products to use. Kudo's.
Good place to dock your boat, good service, good location and no frills operation. Best prices you will find in Hernando Beach. Patty is in charge, she is knowledgeable about the area and tells it like it is so you know what to expect going in and out of Hernando Beach channel. I recommend Sterling Marina to my friends.
Sterling Marina has my vote. When I take my vacation in Florida, I rent boats from Miss Patty, she welcomes you & is fair on the prices. Miss Patty is always straight with you. She hooks you up with a pontoon boat, you bring a cooler with snacks & she will give you some ice. Like to ride around to see the dolphins? Like to see manatees? Like to hang out at the Hernando Beach Flats? If you love the water like I do, Miss Patty is the person to call. If you have kids, the Gulf is loaded with natures wonders. My kids have the time of their life when we get out there on the water. Hernando Beach is off the beaten path, the area isn't congested, you can de-stress.
I rent pontoon boats from Sterling Marina every year. Patty runs the place, she is honest & professional. No worries when you deal with Patty @ Sterling Marina. We call and reserve the boat, then we confirm with Patty the day we are going out on the water. It is as simple as that. (Of course there are requirements to be met to legally operate a boat, IE: age, experience etc.) Patty even lets us to take our dog along for the ride. The boats are very comfortable & have plenty of room for you & your guests. I have rented boats at other places in the past and found that some just hand the keys over to anyone & off they go. Sterling makes certain you meet the criteria to rent a boat. She is thorough at what she does, as it should be when people are going on the water. The Gulf of Mexico can be a lot of fun or it can be a nightmare. For me and my family it has always been good times out on the water. With an 8 person capacity you can even invite other couples and split the fee, If you haven't been to Sterling Marina to rent a boat, you should. When you meet Patty the first thing you will notice is a pleasant smile and courteous manners. Take a break from the world, go for a relaxing ride on the Gulf of Mexico.
Really happy we went to this marina, wide canals, deep channel and service oriented. Took our Catalina in so that we could change thru hulls and replace a transducer. Contacted Patty, she walked us through the process, and even took the time to give us a tour of the boat yard before bringing our boat in. Not many marina's allow customers to work on their own boats. Luckily Sterling Marina does. Sure there are some rules, if there weren't any rules "there would be anarchy" LOL
Sterling Marina is in the best possible location in Hernando Beach, with access to 2 canals. If you want great customer service, talk to Patty. If you rent a slip, they have wet slips on both canals. Isn't it nice to have options? Patty pays attention to detail, if there is any issue with your boat, & you aren't around, Patty will call you. Customers are responsible for keeping an eye on their own boat but it certainly is good that she is alert. The marina is the kind of place you can appreciate. There is 20 AMP electric at each dock and water available. I have been at a couple marina's and found my experience at Sterling to be top notch.
Sterling Marina has the only Do It Yourself boat yard in the area. If you are like me & prefer to work on your own vessel, give Patty a call. Patty will gladly take the time to work with you to schedule your boat to be hauled out and set up on stands & blocks. You will have water, air and electric near your boat. Bring along your tools and ladder. Visit Patty at the Sterling Ship's Store, she makes your repairs easier by having a large inventory of supplies including but not limited to; fuel water separators, filters, hose's, paint, (bottom and topside) electrical items, hardware, zinc anodes etc. If your propeller needs replacing or repair, Patty will be happy to help you. Sterling also has gas and diesel on site for your convenience.
The Marina is in a nice location with access from 2 out of the 3 canals that come into Hernando Beach. They rented us a slip until we sold our boat. Now we rent a pontoon from Patty, there are 3 pontoons available, she is a pleasure to deal with. Patty has assisted me with purchasing boat supplies at the ships store, a slip rental, pontoon rentals. If you have any questions she is more than happy to assist you.
Do not trust this Marina! We reserved a boat 10 days in advance calling every couple of days to confirm the rental and when we got there they had given the boat away. She (Patty) told us the day before to call at 8am, we called at 8 - no answer, called at 8:10 - no answer, we seen a boat go by that said Sterling Marina Pontoon Rentals on it, we jumped in the car and rode up there, (it's only 2 blocks away) we were there at 8:15, she claimed she wasn't letting any boats go out that day for fear of a storm coming in. I told her I had been watching the weather for the last 3 days, that little thing was way out in the gulf and would not be here. She wouldn't do it. We told her we just saw one of the boats, she ignored the statement going on and on about safety and all. We came from Orlando and sat around the rental house all day, it was a BEAUTIFUL day. About 2:30 we seen that boat coming back down the canal, I called her and she then gave me a story about the bosses' sons came this morning so she "had" to give them the boat. So....the original story about the "storm" was BS, now she says she had to give it to the bosses' sons? Lie Lie Lie. Our week-end was ruined by this ladies' lies/stories. Apparently they only have two boats, one has to stay at the marina in case the other breaks down and they have to go retrieve it. DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE!
