Safe Harbor Bluewater

This is one of the best marinas we stayed at. Stayed three nights. Good dockhands that helped us in - dockmaster Dave is welcoming. Clean bathrooms that are close to slips. Surf Rider restaurant is delicious - best fried clams and fried shrimp around. Courtesy shuttle boat over to museum. Free laundry. Dog friendly with small area for dog to run around. We walked to Food Lion - not far. Easy to fuel up on departure. Great stay!

The staff was wonderful getting my boat fueled and then providing a perfect slip. It is a very nice marina.

Nice marina, great staff, great location

This is a great facility with clean docks and friendly people. We had a late arrival and they let us land the first night at the fuel dock, which is easy to access on the way in or out. Clean bathrooms and good showers. The restaurant on site has good food with the emphasis on Fried seafood, which was awesome after a long passage up from the Bahamas. It seems to be a favorite with the locals, too!

Another great 2 night stay while we waited out weather on our trip north. Dockhands were very helpful. Made good use of the free laundry machines. A nice walk to the Food Lion. And a short Uber ride into town for a delicious lunch at Baked Bistro & Pizza. Will be back!

This doesn’t really seem to be a marina for transients. Staff seemed indifferent and no amenities or locations of where things were located was given.

We had a wonderful quick overnight at Bluewater. We were welcomed at the fuel dock where we filled up. Then moved to another dock for the night. Many friendly boaters there including seeing others we have met before. Did get a shower in and a lode of laundry (such a treat:). The facilities were very nice, clean and accommodating. Wonderful location. Thanks again for the overnight.

They are the best!! We love staying at Bluewater! Dave and his staff are friendly, helpful and fun to work with. Jackee is so sweet. The facility is nice and they have a courtesy boat to take you over to downtown Hampton. We've also had them do work on our boat in the past and they too were professional, showed up when they said they would and reasonable. We recommend Bluewater to all our boating friends.

We are Safe Harbor members so we're used to getting great customer service, but Bluewater really is terrific. We came in on a Wednesday afternoon with an issue with our SeaKeeper 9 which involved ordering a part from the company. Craig, Mike and Jimmy in the service department moved Heaven and Earth and got that part here on Friday morning and they had it installed by noon on Friday. That's amazing in my book!

Repeat stay. Excellent marina, helpful dockhands, excellent office help, clean and nice bathroom facilities, and laundry room with free laundry! Great restaurant on site. We were here a few more days than intended thanks to Hurricane Debby. They are great about receiving and holding packages. Wish we could be a Safe Harbor member, we love all the Safe Harbor marinas, but home port is Havre de Grace. Would love to see an associate membership for those of us who sail the Bay, or at least a 'tour' T-shirt with all the Chesapeake Safe Harbor marinas on it. Will definitely be back.

The pool was a welcome surprize, and so was the free laundry. Nice staff too, and the docks were in great condition. Only stayed one night, but there's a lot to do in the area and a good boatyard nextndoor.

I've slipped my boat at SH Bluewater while passing through, and for a couple months while I've had to head home. Each time the team here has been extremely attentive as we docked, pumped out, and with daily check-ins. Dave, Jackie, and Garrett are attentive to every detail of this marina. I would not hesitate to retun for a short visit or a seasonal stay.

Great facilities and staff was even greater. Our arrival ended up past closing as we got delayed due to railroad traffic causing an extended bridge closing. The staff stayed past closing and fueled us up so we could depart at 1st light the next day. Thanks for a great visit. Will certainly come back (before closing) and stay longer.

The people at Safe Harbor Bluewater Marina were super great. Jimmy and the guys in maintenance were so helpful with getting some service work done that I needed, Dave and the everyone at the dock were friendly and helpful! Second time here. Love this marina.

After suffering a major incident last July we had our trawler towed to Bluewater. Had to leave her at the yard over winter waiting for parts from France. The yard staff, specifically Frank and Craig, were extremely helpful getting our boat repaired and ready for the 2024 season. These guys know what they’re doing!

I own a 35 year old wood sportfish boat that needed some repairs to the hull, keel, sea chest, as well as some new through hulls, bottom paint, running gear cleaned, new shaft seals, hull, teak redone, etc. The boat was there over a month. Everyone at the yard was very friendly, professional and did a great job from the office staff to all the people in the yard. Craig Messick lead the team and provided us with the guidance necessary to continue with our preservation of the Tiffany 56' Miracle. Thank you!

We had a very good experience at SH Bluewater. We had a mechanical problem that required a haul and a couple of days on the hard. Everyone that we came in contact with was pleasant and helpful from Suzann (service writer), Craig (service manager, I think), Derrick (travel lift and yard master!) to Daryl (mechanic). Thank you all! We'll be back for sure.

I want to thank the entire staff at Safe Harbor Bluewater. The entire staff went above and beyond to assist in a time of need. We had a last second emergency during transit and needed to find safe harbor for the night; no other marinas in the area were able to assist. Safe Harbor Bluewater worked with us and made it happen. Great communication, teamwork, customer service, and hands on all around. Would absolutely recommend them.

Frank went above and beyond in managing all the various tasks while keeping the boat clean, protected and, most importantly, keeping me fully updated on the progress via text, pics and phone calls. I really enjoyed working with Frank and the team and wouldn't hesitate sending others to work with Frank and the S.H Bluewater team for service.

It’s always a pleasure to stay at Safe Harbor Bluewater in Hampton. The staff is incredible, ready to help with what ever you need. Amenities are first rate. No current and well protected from the wind, fuel docks and Surfrider restaurant a few steps away. Bikes available and grocery store just down the street. I wouldn’t think of staying anywhere else when in Hampton.

This is a well-run marina. Competent and customer-focused staff, excellent amenities, and a good restaurant right here. Great location for getting to historic sites. Also near an excellent boatyard that offers dockside services for minor repairs and maintenance. We recommend it highly for a nice stay.

It was annoying to not have any assistance tying up, when we arrived at the marina. We waited over 1/2 hr, settling in. It was more irritating to have to chase down a dock hand on the other side of the marina to obtain restroom access info, wifi code, etc. When I found the Dock Master, he did apologize, but with an excuse (busy with another boat that had also been towed in, losing its shaft, taking on water), and isn't it lucky it wasn't as bad (our fuel issue)? Enuff. I did call before we left stating we were about to shove off, inquiring about buying ice. She told me to pull into the fuel dock but never asked if we needed assistance. Our 51' overall sailboat was being blown off the dock making collection of lines for 2 people , 1 needed at the wheel, awkward at best. Not entirely sour grapes however, we enjoyed 2 good dinners at the SurfRider restaurant!

People make the difference and the Dockhands were all great, beginning with our pumpout and then helping us get settled at the dock. The Water Taxi to downtown Hampton was fun and again, the Dockhands did a great great job as tour narrators coming and going. Met plenty of pleasant people on the docks and our puppy met plenty of friends as well. Great place.

Restaurant staff are antagonistic toward marina users. Very uncomfortable. Bathroom locks broken. Some snack bar service should be available Mondays since restaurant is closed and nothing else is walking distance

This is one of the nicest marinas in the lower bay. Immaculately clean, friendly staff, convenient, and the Hampton River harbor should be more of a destination.

This was the first time in a very long time that the dock assistants helped us get underway when we left. The Marina is beautiful. We especially enjoyed the upgraded picnic area. Our group had a nice party there under the covered picnic tables.

Great service by all staff at the fuel dock and since we were there right before closing they just had us stay there for a quick departure in the AM. The restaurant was OK. The music was so loud we couldn't even hear each other talk across the table. But I wouldn't let that stop anyone from spending some time here...great service!!

This is a great marina. It’s beautiful and the staff are outstanding. Dave Farlow, the manager, got out of bed at midnight to come help me get in after a long day dealing with some serious issues. Such a great experience and a happy ending to a tough day. Brandon and Rich fueled the boat for me in the morning and even brought me some spare fluids from the ships store right to the boat. Outstanding.

We waited here amongst the Salty Dawgs to sail to the Carib during the first 2 weeks of November. Great location for the boat. Very protected. Docking is stern to with pilons on the bow. Can be challenging with cross winds. One supermarket is walking distance but we needed a car to fully provision. Facilities very nice. SV ATARAXIA

We found this easy-to-access marina to be very well run and friendly. Dockmaster Brandon was a great help while we were docking, and then he gave us a ride to town in the marina’s launch. We were disappointed the on-site restaurant was closed, but we did fine in town. Took an Uber back. Before we got underway the next morning we got a pump out and topped off the water tank, and the fellow who helped us was friendly and efficient. We would stay at Bluewater Marina again, no question.

This is a terrific marina staffed by wonderful and helpful people. This was our second stay and it will not be our last !

My wife and I own Grand Banks Eastbay 38. Contacted Staff at Bluewater Hampton reference raw water system concern. Technician was sent to our boat within 2 days ( They actually ask when I would be at boat. Said to call day before I would be there). We have utilized many boatyards in Tidewater and Deltaville areas but The Bluewater tech, Daryl and his daughter/technician Mia are 2 of the most overall knowledgeable/skilled boat techs I personally have come across in over 15 years of boat ownership. A great team that gets to the point and gets the work done. They initially diagnosed the issues, recorded (video and photo's) their findings and gave recommendations for service. Their service and attention to detail is above and beyond normal and I fully intend to call Bluewater for our future service needs. I would also like to commend the office staff at Bluewater for the quick response and support to their techs. Other yards should certainly follow the lead of this local organization in meeting ( exceeding) customers expectations. James

A little disappointed. We were put in a 60ft slip with short finger docks which made it extremely difficult to impossible for us to moore correctly the pilons were too far aft to get a line on. We were not given the bathhouse codes or WiFi log on although the dock master said he would have the dock hands bring them. For the price we paid we do not feel it was value for money spent!

Very nice facility. Will definitely return. Rich, the dockhand answered us on VHF and met us at fuel dock. Very nice long fuel pier. He gave me the slip assignment and met us there. He was knowledgeable and quick to get us safety in our slip. Rest of staff, including manager Dave, was very friendly to give us local knowledge about places to visit. The restrooms and showers were clean and modern with the refreshing pool close by.

The marina and all it's employees are great. Had some stuff delivered prior to arrival and Anita and David took care of my stuff with kid gloves, and it was all there waiting for me when I got there. Dock hands were very helpful getting boat tied up, even went on boat next to our slip to throw a line around the piling for our bow line (we were much shorter than the piling took into account for). Restrooms were clean and functional and accessible. Docks were sturdy floating docks. However, the restaurant has taken over the pool. There's a sign that says the pool is for registered marina guests only, but there were others (a family of about 6 comes to mind) that also used the pool. Additionally, the restaurant is now making the rules for the pool. Since they are connected, you cannot bring any food or drinks from the boat to the pool. It all has to come from the restaurant. If the marina is going to have a pool for their guests, they need to keep the restaurant out the running of it. This is not the case at this location. They lose 2 stars for that, but the marina itself should get 5 stars.

I’ve been boating more then 15 years. This is one of the most, If not THE most welcoming, ready to help, and friendly team I’ve seen. I recommend this place to everyone. I’m not shy to complain, but when It is great, It also should be said :-)

Nice marina, nice people. Don’t ask them to work on your boat. Tech was friendly but the pricing was ridiculous. $800 labor for 4 man-hours work. The tech and a helper were on the boat around 2 hours. The bilge pump they installed won’t keep up with even one shower in use. So I can only assume the pump was too small as we never had this problem before. Other parts prices were also way overpriced.

We have stayed in marinas on three continents on our boat. This was the worst experience to date. I am certain that the staff have a different opinion from ours but this marina is a mess management wise. Their fuel dock staff are pleasant and competent. Their facility staff (showers, etc.) are simply the worst at customer service we have ever experienced. This is the only such review we have ever given a marina so, it could be us, or it could be staff of Bluewater. I am happy to provide my version of their deficiencies if you are interested. Great marina with professional and friendly staff, plus a restaurant, pool and water taxi to town.

$200 to stay on a fixed dock, with no fender boards. Staff are nice, but wouldn't return at this price. Staying at a much nicer Marina tonight at about half price.

Great experience. Dockhands are helpful, knowledgeable and caring. The marina is clean and well maintained. The service department responded to our failed water pump the same day we contacted them and had it fixed by lunch time. This is our second time here and both have been great experiences.

We required a tow into the marina on May 5th 2022. Our arrival was met by David and a staff member. Together they easily maneuvered us into a slip. While we waited to have the transmission repaired, we gratefully accepted and appreciated the kindness and guidance of Jackie, from the marine office. Not only did she locate fresh soft shell crabs for us, she delivered them to the marina herself. They were excellent! The facility provided us with bicycles to ride to nearby stores, clean facilities, restaurant, laundry. We will be returning.

Felt very safe and secure for 5 days of heavy winds on this marina. Great restaurant and very clean facilities, will definitely be back.
