We had a lovely stay at Pickwick Landing State Park. When we arrived, we were greeted by two very helpful people who assisted us with a tie and gave us the scoop on how to get a car up to the lodge for dinner, such great hospitality! The marina office and laundry room were beautiful and well-kept. making for a very comfortable stop. The shower houses are a bit of a walk, but the surroundings are so pretty it’s hard to complain. The whole area is simply gorgeous. The lodge itself was warm and welcoming, and our dinner was outstanding. I enjoyed the shrimp and grits, while Mike had the Cajun chicken pasta, a dish the driver had recommended. Once we arrived, we even met some other diners who told us they come there just for that Cajun chicken pasta, and we can see why! All in all, Pickwick Landing is a beautiful spot with friendly people, great facilities, and a memorable dining experience. Highly recommended!

Tucked in a small cove right after the Pickwick Dam, it was a great spot to spend the night, and probably as close to being at anchor without actually being at anchor. We took a tour of Shiloh Battlegrounds the next day after we learned a local tour guide offers to pick you up at the marina and give a private tour of the grounds. Very interesting and worth the experience. It was hard to find what the dock rates were as it wasn’t online or on Navionics, but decided to go for it because of its location and serenity. There was a green channel marker next to a no-wake buoy coming in that made it a bit confusing on which direction we had to enter to come in. We called but was hard to communicate on the phone and ended up having to backtrack once we saw some skinny depths on our depth sounder. Would have been helpful to have a marina map beforehand. Bathrooms close by but showers you had to bike to the campground to use. Friendly staff.
