Stayed here overnight for a few days midweek late June. Beautiful place, well maintained and managed marina, good facilities, helpful staff. The whole place is tidal, access times depend on your draft. The slipway is good though this is also tidal and quite a shallow gradient.
Have berthed all over Europe and the Americas, never been spoken to like the owner/manager of this place -sullen, argumentative and downright rude. If sailing South carry on to Royal Quays at N. Shields, if N. Keep on to Eyemouth. Absolutely shocking. Didn’t even want to give the minimum 1 star. Following owners response I would add: As the owner knows, we were not requesting a berth, we were enquiring about the general availability of visitor berthing for a possible visit some time in the future. We were not aggrieved and to suggest otherwise is fallacious and indeed dishonest. I had no problems whatsoever answering all and any questions about my boat; I do have problems with the manner in which they were asked. I do not think Covid-19 is an excuse for extreme bad manners. I have never been to Amble Marina before, with or without my boat; my original review was honest and posted in good faith to help other yachties decide whether to risk such a reception and I stand by it. I don't intend posting further on this given the owners rather twisted and patronising version of events.
