Mixed Experiences at the Winter Marina ​My time at this marina was unfortunately very inconsistent. While there are some positive aspects, there were serious issues regarding organization, infrastructure, and customer service that significantly marred the stay. ​The Positives: ​Friendly Staff: The on-site employees were always very kind and helpful. ​Clean Sanitary Facilities: The toilets were cleaned regularly and remained in good condition. ​Great Community: The sense of camaraderie and the atmosphere among the liveaboard neighbors was excellent. ​Base Price: The standard market price for the berth itself was reasonable. ​The Negatives: ​Power and Water Outages: We were without electricity for several weeks. This is unacceptable in winter, as diesel heaters require power to operate, meaning the heating failed as well. Even four months after the "major" repair, the problem persists; there are still multiple inquiries per week in the residents' group asking why the power is out again. I have never experienced anything like this in any other winter marina. Additionally, there was no hot water in the showers, even though we paid extra for it. ​Inaccurate Electricity Billing: The electricity meters simply cannot be correct. We were repeatedly presented with bills that were demonstrably wrong. For comparison: I used my own external meter, which showed a consumption that was not even 30% of what the marina tried to charge me in the first bill. It took massive discussions every time to reach a settlement, which I ultimately only accepted with great frustration. ​High Utility Costs: The prices for electricity and water are set extremely high—especially considering the unreliable supply. ​Extra Fees and Lack of Goodwill: The management displays very profit-driven, almost "greedy" behavior. When outside contractors performed work on my boat, I had to pay an additional fee to the marina. There is a total lack of flexibility; even upon departure, we weren't granted a single free day of mooring, despite having stayed for over six months. ​Restrictions on External Deliveries: In Greece, it is standard for supermarkets (like Sklavenitis) to deliver groceries to the boat for free. However, this marina prohibits delivery vehicles on the premises. We were told we should shop at the Marina Shop instead—which is massively overpriced, with items like milk costing up to 100% more than in a regular store. ​Broken Promises: The announcement that a slipway would be completed in early 2026 was not kept. Originally promised for February, it was pushed to March and is now slated for July or August. Consequently, we had to arrange and pay for an external crane for our lift-in/lift-out. ​Poor Organization: After being hauled out, the boat was placed in a spot right by the quay where others were living on their boats. Despite this, sanding and high-pressure cleaning were performed on nearby vessels, blowing dust and grime all over the surrounding boats. ​Condition of Laundry Facilities: The provided washing machines are often pushed to their limits or misused by other residents. One neighbor washed a white silk pair of trousers that came out dirtier than when they went in. Management should ensure that machines and dryers are cleaned and inspected regularly. ​Construction and Cleanliness: The marina felt quite dirty throughout the winter, likely due to ongoing construction and investments. While these may be future improvements, the current state is not acceptable for the price charged. Either the cleanliness must improve, or the prices should be lowered. ​Conclusion: ​Due to the great community and friendly staff, this marina has potential. However, the organizational flaws, hidden costs, and unreliable infrastructure currently outweigh the benefits. If you rely on a stable power supply, fair billing, and transparent pricing, you should approach this marina with caution.
