Please bear with our boatyard as we are dealing with a management transition! Choppy waters; hopefully no rolls! Thank you for your patience.
Tenants Harbor Boatyard, situated on the coast of Maine, is equipped with a modern 10,000 square foot building capable of handling all aspects of boat repair and storage with year-round marine fuel available. The yard provides full-service to both local and the visiting yachtsmen for mechanical, rigging, metal fabrication, electronics, canvas and upholstery, and haul-out up to 25-tons.
An attractive destination and cruising center, the working waterfront of Tenants Harbor offers close proximity to air transportation, car rental service, Internet access, many fine restaurants, inns and supply stores. The yard makes a great location for crew changes and a base for provisioning. Many have found Tenants Harbor in St. George to be the perfect landfall for boats coming from Boston and the Cape and the perfect gateway to the best parts of Maine.
We love THBY. A lovely harbor. A lovely town. Lovely people.
We enjoyed our stay at the boatyard dock. The person that helped dock and connect was friendly, helpful and had some great suggestions on where to eat, get coffee and groceries. The evening was calm, quiet and restful. E’ll be back.
Everything was great!! Easy reservation, prompt communication. Beautiful location!!
Great place, we’ll be back!!
Large clean bathrooms. Calm harbor
Growing pains, I guess. It would have been nice to be greeted with more information about the facilities and local things to do. However, the stay was nice in the harbor
Great spot, friendly folks and nicely newly renovated bathrooms.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean enjoyable facilities. Easy walk to groceries and restaurants (not to mention great caffe/pastry shop.).
Easy, nice mooring.
I had a nice two night stay. If you want to get the feel of that picture with the workboats and pleasure boats mixed in together with a beautiful Maine backdrop this is the place. Clean bathrooms with hot showers. A short walk into town where there’s a post office, a library, two restaurants that I found, and a fun bar (The Outback). Let me also give a shout out to one of the employees named Kennedy. She was great and when I was in a jam offered to give me a ride to Rockland. Thank you Kennedy! If I come back this way I will have Tenants Harbor high on my list of places to return to.
Nice harbor, serene and peaceful. Friendly and helpful harbormaster. A great experience.
The team came out to meet us and show us our mooring; very responsive and friendly.
dockmaster away, nice guy on second day with the boat yard took awhile to find a mooring.
Easy to communicate with regarding finding the mooring. They are really trying hard to service the customers.. Thank you.
Also a planned stop. Friendly faces, hot showers, easy walk to the market and the Happy Clam. Been coming for years.
Wonderful place. Everyone very friendly and easygoing and bathrooms/showers excellent. We're coming back!
Gave us all the information we needed to find the correct mooring! Very responsive to questions. Thanks!
Cullen was responsive and helpful even on a Sunday when the boatyard office was closed.
Very picturesque! Good Tennants Harbor Boat Yard guys Cullen and Brackett helped us with docking. We had fog and light rain and the stunning boat “Dreadnaught” to enjoy once docked and looking out our salon windows. Walked to General Store and found good provisions and had our dinner at the restaurant at The Eastwinds Inn. Enjoyed our time here.
Affordable mooring. We ended out on the south side of the harbor close to the inlet. Too long s dingy tide in for our short stay so we did not see the facilities
Always love staying here. Quiet and peaceful. New shower facilities. Happy Clam is always a great meal. Small but well stocked local market a short walk from the boatyard
Quiet well protected harbor. Short walk to general store, restaurant and bakery. Will visit again.
We reserved a mooring well in advance and when we arrived, the mooring ball was less than ten feet off the stern of a neighboring trawler. This was unsafe but the only alternative ball offered was in Long Cove a two mile distance from shore access. This was obviously unacceptable and we left the harbor to find another mooring ten miles away.
Nice to be back at Tenants. It’s been a while. Always a treat.
Friendly staff limited shore amenities. I always stay here when heading downeast Showers being renovated Busy lobster fleet at 4-5 am. Tends to be rocky and rolly when seas are up
Always a pleasure. Very helpful and pleasant staff. Comfortable harbor with respectful lobster boats in the early AM.
Wonderful harbor. Calm evening. Quiet. Beautiful setting. Thanks for a great stay.
Their rental moorings are mostly at the outside entrance to the harbor and very prone to a very rough stay with winds from the east-south-east. I elected to change mooring site to one they had in the mid harbor. Unfortunately, it's location was too close to an adjacent boat. I fended off the boat before contact just at dark and moved to an adjacent unoccupied mooring and stayed the night without issues. I informed the THB receptionist of the issue when I left. Suggesting they put only very small light boats on that mooring.
Kennedy, the manager was great to deal with. Clean showers, ice and a great town to walk around. Visit the general store for just about everything.
We were stuck on a mooring outside the No-wake zone so we’re constantly hammered by lobster boat wakes. Not pleasant.
Beautiful harbor Nice facility. Short walk to a couple of Restaurants and a General store.
Beautiful spot. They responded instantly to my reservation request. You need to call them on VHF or phone to get the mooring number. We paid by credit card over the phone. Mooring balls were white, no yellow. Morning balls had THBY and a number on them. You typically had to be pretty close to see the number. It is very much a working Harbor. There will be boats leaving at dawn, which I respect and appreciate.
The Boatyard was terrific. A tight mooring for a 65 but usable. The narrow harbor does not allow wakes from the watermen’s boats to dissipate so it tends to be a bit rolling. Nice friendly folks except for the owner of the Happy Clam. We were kicked out and chased away by the bartender. Our criticism of his ability to properly pour a Guinness was a blow to his ego.
Tenants Harbor Boatyard is well managed by the nicest folks. The harbor is a beautiful and well protected. And they have great showers!
Staff, location and facilities were great. Came in late afternoon and staff were gr
Great dock staff!! They were available immediately for docking, hooked us up with power and helped with fueling. Thank you!
After a minor screw up concerning mooring location they let us raft up with our accompanying boat at their fuel dock which worked out well . Bathrooms were deficient . One had no paper hand towels and one had no toilet paper or dispenser even
Our second visit and it won't be our last. Friendly and helpful dock hands. Short walk to a few dinner options and a convenient market nearby for groceries, beverages, etc. Note: The East Wind Inn does not take reservations and gives preference to the guests at the Inn, so it may be hit or miss to be able to have a meal there.
Extraordinary service. This was the third season I stopped in. Last year I lost an alternator and they provided electrical connectors to install a new one. This year, Rockland was full and I wanted to meet friends and pickup BBQ. Tenants Harbor Boat Yard loaned me a car for several hours. Extremely nice folks. Bathrooms/shower has been redone. Easy walk to general store and several good restaurants. Good internet and cell service. Quiet well protected harbor that is easy to get in and out of.
Incredibly nice staff in an incredibly nice place!
I like the new bath/shower facility upgrade and staff was very helpful. Hard to get on the fuel dock when people are tied up there 24/7.
We have stayed here on a mooring for 1 or 2 days a season for years. Cullen and his staff are always gracious and helpful. The harbor is quiet and picturesque. The working harbor folks are thoughtful to moored boats at 5 am. The general store (Good pizza)is a short 10 minute walk, and a few minutes from there, a bakery and The Happy Clam restaurant which serves excellent food and libations.
Snagged a mooring last minute. Bathroom/showers are basic. It was nice to have dinner within walking distance.
Dense fog on arrival coupled with some vague directions to us first time visitors made for some tense work. Boat girl apologized profusely and worked hard to overcome our initial impressions. Would come back to a beautiful place, especially without the fog!
Friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful quiet harbor. No frills marina with 2 good bathrooms currently being upgraded. Local General store is a gem for backed goods & sandwiches
This is our favorite boatyard. It’s so peaceful and scenic here. The showers is amazing. The walk to the Tenants Harbor Market is only two minutes away. They make the best gluten free pizza. We encountered some bad weather during our voyage and Tenants Harbor Boatyard is able to extend our stay. Love their flexibility and understanding. We fueled up and filled our water tanks too. There is a manual pump station further down the bay that works really well. Tenants Harbor is hands down the best harbors to stay overnight while cruising through the waters of Maine. Thank you!
This is a friendly boatyard in a convenient resupply location. Be warned some of the mornings are very tightly spaced, but others, further from the yard have a little more room. Probably would have given 5 stars if the yachtsmen's building wasn't still under construction for the second season in a row. Still usable, though. Laundry facilities would be a handy addition.
Would have been 5 stars - great people, good moorings, etc. But, the dinghy space was very limited. We wound up tying to the end of the main float, since we knew we wouldn't be there more than an hour. On a busy day, there might not have been any room at all. The folks in the office helped as best they could, and allowed us to tie anywhere we find a spot.
Nice place. Staff very friendly and helpful. Community quiet just as we like it. Limited activities ashore and some of the local eateries were either closed for the season or negatively impacted by COVID.
Very rocky in afternoon due to wakes but settles down at night. The no wake zone is right outside the mooring field. So when boats slow down their wakes follow them in. Very uncomfortable.
The people are very nice. The bathrooms are under construction but it'll be nice when it's finished! Our primary concern was the lack of block ice. I hope they get a delivery soon!
Picked up a mooring ball with no issues. Friendly people willing to let me switch days. Great restaurant within walking distance.
Wonderful Tenants Harbor! Good mooring, helpful directions finding it. Friendly, hospitable service and good fuel prices. We'll be back!
Excellent crew, and place to stay. Great WiFi.
Perfect stay. Super fast response to our Dockwa request. The moorings are very close to the gas dock and boatyard, an easy paddle over. Amazing quiet at night compared to some mooring fields, and beautiful stars. Will be back!
We were travelling with two other boats, who were assigned mooring close together near the head of the harbor. We, however, were assigned a mooring out near the harbor entrance where we were subjected to wakes and rolling in the ocean swell. Also there was a lobster facility on shore near us with floodlights shining on us all night. We were happy to be able to fill our water tank at the dock, and the staff was very courteous and helpful there.
What a great spot! Have been meaning to stay here for a few seasons now and finally booked a mooring for this past weekend. Easy booking on Dockwa app. We were extremely pleased with the location & responsiveness of the boatyard when we initially had trouble locating the assigned mooring in the harbor. We were tucked away in a lovely part of the harbor alongside some old summer cottages. Well-protected (winds were SSW), scenic and lots of services within easy row & walk. The harbor was active but not too crowded/noisy — though we stayed on a Saturday night and so with no lobstering on Sundays we had the advantage of not having any rumbling Diesel engines at 5am! A great launching point for any cruise to Monhegan, Fox Islands, and/or Penobscot Bay. Will definitely stay again!
A great harbor to visit…..a short walk to a great restaurant, the Happy Clam
We’ve been stopping here for years on our annual cruise down east from Portland. They’ve always been helpful, friendly and accommodating. There are showers on the property. The anchorage has a combination of working lobster boats and pleasure boats, so there’s always activity, which we enjoy. An easy walk away are a couple of restaurants, a bakery, a general store and a post office.
Easy access with amenities close to docks. Friendly and knowledgeable Staff.
Cullen was very helpful. He offered to come in late to help us and when we did arrive he helped us get some lobster and explained the town. This bid a small quaint town but a great place to visit. The service at the marina only made it better!
I love this marina. Cullen is always very helpful, friendly and responsive. You can walk to a great general store for provisions and a good restaurant. Only thing missing is a washer drier.
The crew at Tenants was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our 3 night stay on a mooring while we waited for hurricane Larry to pass by. Great German (and local) food at the Happy Clam.
Helpful staff. Interesting town. Reasonable grocery and a few good restaurants. Happy Clam Grill and Pub has great German food.
One of our favorite places. Beautiful harbor. Cullen super helpful and very personable.
Great accommodations. Dock master and the very able assistant were great! Extremely clean marina. Close to a decent store and good area to walk. Thanks for the help and info.
Quaint location. East exposure so not the best choice for string east winds - but the mooring was great and we weathered the winds. Dinghy dock is close which is great - but very crowded dinghy dock so a bit challenging for the tie up. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Updated 8/17/2021 Most of my comments from my previous stay still apply. Tenants Harbor is a nice little town and we enjoyed walking around for the afternoon. This was another short, one-night stop. At least 3 dock attendants helped us tie up. They were skilled and attentive. The only drawback I found with this stay is that the boatyard has some shore power limitations. It has one 50-amp connection and one 30-amp connection. We were the second boat to request 50-amp service for the same night. Thus I was forced to “time-share” the single 30-amp connection between my inverter/charger circuits and my heavier AC loads. It worked out OK but would have been more convenient if I hadn’t had to switch my loads to share a single source between my two 30-amp cords. To be fair, the dockmaster called me before confirming my reservation to let me know this would be the situation, but I encourage the yard to upgrade their shore power facilities. Original 2019 Review: This was a short, one night stop, but we were very comfortable. The dockmaster was on the pier when we arrived to help tie us up. He had given us good directions to his pier and our assigned location. Shore power is provided via extension cords from a box on the fuel dock. Both 30 and 50 amp shore power is available. There’s a single head with a shower in the customer lounge up the hill from the docks. The head and shower were clean and in good condition. WiFi at the dock was outstanding, among the best we’d seen during our trip up the coast. We didn’t sample food ashore but there appear to be several restaurants serving dinner and a couple just serving breakfast and lunch. There’s also a small general store that we didn’t have time to visit.
Great, as always. See you again soon.
Decent location, but glass calmsohard to say howsecure it would be in weather. Staff was very helpful when a lobster pot line got in my prop and rudder. Little store with food (not just snacks) and a decent little restairant within walking distance of the marina.
Our stay was fabulous and checked all the boxes for us! Moorings only in a quintessential Maine lobstering harbor. The Tenants Harbor Boatyard was easy to work with and responsive. They have a big dinghy dock, too. I just loved seeing all the lobster boats moored all over the place. This is a real working waterfront with a small town charm. Definitely worth splashing the dinghy and exploring. Tie up at the Town Dock and head up the street to the Happy Clam and right behind it - The Outback. A really cool time!
Great. Excellent service and attentiveness from staff. Thank you!
We enjoyed our stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. The shower and restroom is fine. The marina is lovely and quiet. We hope to visit again soon.
Beautiful location with basic amenities. We were there for a very short stay, so I did not check out the lounge with showers, etc. Docks are narrow and made for working boats, but all were in good shape and well maintained. The young ladies at the dock were helpful and friendly. We needed to borrow an extension for electric service (ours is about 50'), but it all worked out. If you don't have a long cord, you may want to check on this in advance. We walked about 8 minutes to Happy Clam and ended up at their Saloon called Outback Really nice people and the most delicious fried clams ever! It was quiet and beautiful at night. We will be back for a little more time so we can explore.
Friendly hosts, good mooring field. Restrooms & showers need an upgrade. Quiet town!
Great people in a true taste of Maine place!!!
Privately marked channel into the harbor and actually, no lobster pots in that channel. We were moored adjacent to the channel with continuous traffic lacking understanding of the "No Wake" buoy. Got the impression the lobstermen don't appreciate the presence of private vessels. We were circled a couple of times. Only contact with marina staff was via radio. Gave good directions to our mooring, although the mooring numbers are very hard to read. Did not go ashore, so can't comment on facilities.
Excellent facilities with big shower ice and crew!
At first it could have been dicey. Got in and there was another boat on the mooring we were assigned to. As a result they put us at their dock, wth power, at the cost of the original mooring. Very responsible, very nice!. Lovely harbor. Very quiet. ALL GOOD!
Fuel, ice, mooring plus a friendly and helpful staff.
The mooring was brand new and well marked. The showers were very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
Awesome! Cullen the The Manager went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. Very friendly and beautiful historical harbor.
Great folks. Good rate for the mooring. Clean shower. Nice walk to town.
Very friendly staff and accommodating us at the end of the season. A beautiful harbor.
The folks at Tenants Harbor Boatyard are terrifically accommodating. They even have a lounge with a computer terminal and reading material as well as hot showers. We always stay with them while visiting their charming town.
Excellent mooring protection, fantastic staff. Short walk to first class market. Getting fuel was easy, water. This is always a stop on my way home from down East.
Excellent service. We were arriving late and called them, they said we will wait for you just keep us posted. Once we got there they had water hose and power cable ready. Also the WIFI was more than usable. We needed a diver to check our prop and they found us right away! TH is very quite and no major currents (outside the tide). We will be back!
We stayed 2 nights at Tenats Harbor Boat Yard on a mooring ball while we daysailed the area. This is a wonderful place to stay. We got in late and they made sure we knew where to moor..Great directions. The facilities were clean and the staff friendly and helpful. Tenants Harbor is a nice sheltered anchorage with a fun mix of sail and worming boats. The village is friendly and a short walk away. We will stay here again.
Pretty harbor, good mooring, helpful staff. Answered VHF call quickly and directed to mooring. Harbor now has ATT cell service which it did not last year.
Great staff, clean and roomy shower. Nice little general store with public landing dingy dock so we could get our ice cream fix :) Will definitely be back.
Now moored twice in Tenants Harbor. I found it to be a rolly Harbor.
Received a message after making the reservation with mooring number and very specific directions including nearby boat name. Always a pleasure to stay with the folks at Tenants Harbor.
This might be the most protected and tranquil harbor I’ve ever seen! I know it would be different if the winds were from the Northeast, blowing directly into the harbor. But for the storm we were ducking, this was a sanctuary. Colin couldn’t have been more helpful, including arranging a diver to scrape our hull. And the town of Tenants Harbor is absolutely charming.
Second stay here this season. Excellent mooring field and very friendly, accommodating staff. Great place, thank you!
Great little marina. Wolfgang was an attentive and helpful dockhand. Had a great evening meal in town at the Happy Clam and then a wonderful breakfast following morning at East Wind Inn. Beautiful and quiet spot. We will be back.
Great spot, convenient, walk to town, helpful staff - perfect!!!
Small lobstering village lots of charm. Marina staff very friendly
2nd time here this summer. Helpful staff. Clean shower. Will be back
Cozy harbor, except in a strong easterly. Very good boat yard
beautiful, sheltered spot, good moorings and staff. Dockwa made it easy to make a reservation
Close moorings. Crowded dinghy dock. Steep ramps. Polite welcome though and nice shower facility.
The dockhand Wolfgang was very helpful and friendly. Marina was nice, with only exception that Marina owner was unfriendly. Harbor and town were great.
Staff was knowledgeable and helpful. Fuel was pricey. Well protected dock. Close to General Store. We enjoyed our stay.
