Safe Harbor Stratford

We went down to Safe Harbor Stratford this past weekend. Still our favorite marina. Steve and Josh are just great. Members are always friendly. Facility is well maintained and clean. We've never been disappointed. You will not be disappointed. Can't wait to go back. Thank you, Fred & Jan "JanMarie V"

Safe Harbor Stratford is an exceptional marina –The staff is awesome, the facilities are modern and very well tended, and their service is second to none. Our dockmates were quite genial, and access to town and all the major highways is direct and only a few minutes away. This spring we had the marina replace our prop shaft and cutlass bearing, and install a dripless lip seal in place of the old stuffing box. Encountering a few perplexing problems along the way, they solved them effectively and efficiently, and did a marvelous job of it. The new seal is tight and dry, and everything came out fine. Again, I must say that the staff at Safe Harbor Stratford is beyond outstanding. They are all quite professional, more than a little accommodating, and always with a friendly and good natured attitude. Their technical staff is knowledgeable and highly skilled, and the dockyard staff are always ready to lend a hand when needed. All in all, one of the best marinas I have seen.

I posted back in Feb about an incident I had with this location after having an excellent dealing with their other locations. It seems this was a one off incident and was rectified beyond what I was looking for. Management was phenomenal and more than apologetic for something that was out of their control. I have since dealt with them throughout the entire summer of ‘22 and every contact has been positive. They are more than responsive to your needs.

5 stars all the way! Jason and the team at Safe Harbor Stratford were amazing with a variety of projects on our Sabre 34. Super easy to work with, very responsible, knowledgeable, and professional. Highly recommend for storage and boat repair!

I bought a sailboat through the safe harbor brokerage out of N Kingston, RI. My Broker, Lynn was awesome. While taking the boat back to Stratford, CT, I hit some pretty rough seas. I called Mystic Safe Harbor and they were more than accommodating. They charged me a $1 a foot for the night with power and access to the facilities. I left that morning for my second leg to Stratford. I rounded into the Housatonic River around 8:30pm. For whatever reason, I was unable to reach the bridge operator to get to my slip on the other side. I was assured by my broker and the Safe Harbor broker in RI that they would be more than willing to assist me. Being 8:30pm, obviously the yard was closed. I had no other choice to tie up and did so at their fuel dock. In the morning, I was awoken by an employee stating he needed to “speak to the Capt”. It took me a minute to clear my head as it had been a rough week trying to get the boat down in an appropriate weather window. My experience at Mystic could not have been any more opposite then how I was treated by Stratford. I was looked at, treated like and had verbalized to me that I was a criminal. I was charged exponentially/excessively more for my night stay. After paying, I requested fuel and was denied it. Stating the pumps were closed. I returned to my boat for a nap while waiting for the tide to come in. I contacted the bridge to ensure the attendant was there. After waking at slack tide, I went above to prep the lines to shove off for the 1/4 mile trip to my slip and saw the long haired hippy employee that treated me like a criminal and refused me fuel filling up another boat. I hope this is an isolated incident, since I was treated so well by Mystic,but I doubt it. When trying to survey my boat in RI, I had to use an adjacent yard to pull the boat despite the buying and selling brokers were both from Safe Harbor. Do visit the Mystic location, though. Beautiful yard, great people and beautiful location. Let your boat sink before ever using Stratford.

Great experience! Easy access to Long Island Sound…Clean professionally run facility…great quiet calm slip location… the 2 dockhands were spectacular.. very responsive especially when called to assist with docking. Outrigger Restaurant on site was great also…great frozen pina colada, crab fritters, lobster Mac/cheese, broiled scallop.. plenty outdoor waterside seating at restaurant . ( Just be aware of significant current if docking during max Ebb/Flood tide).

Staff was great . We came upon some rough waters and they were able to get us in after closing hours. Staff waited until we were secure. Well maintained a pleasure to work with.

The staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating. Upon arrival, they helped me dock in high winds. They also immediately performed some needed (but unscheduled) repairs on my boat overnight. In every way, they went above and beyond. Josh was a particular stand-out.

This was our second time staying here. The dock staff is excellent! Beautiful clean marina, great pool. The seasonal customers are friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back!

Great marina. Lovely facility. Head/showers like a palace. Good restaurant. Fuel on site. Pool. Expect the best from safe harbor.

The marina is small and getting there with the current was a bit tough. Long way up the river. That said once there it was a very pleasant stay. The staff was terrific, from the first radio contact to casting off they were there with a smile for anything l asked. Just look for a person in a red shirt. I will definitely stay there next time I'm around that area.

Very nice marina, very helpful staff, welcoming dockhands. Clean bathrooms & showers, laundry room/lounge. Restaurant on site, as well as ship’s store.

Very professional staff

When we pulled up to the Marina we were greeted with 2 big smiling very helpful hands. Strong currents didn’t help things, but they made it easy for me. I needed a Y connector for the electric and they provided one right away. Great Restuarant right at the dock and the facilities were very clean. Looking forward to a return visit. MV IMAGINE

Great marina and very helpful staff

Very friendly staff. I had a mechanical problem and although I know they were slammed this time of year, were able to get me assistance. Not once did I hear them say we were busy - just a friendly smile and assistance. Thanks Josh, Steve & Jason.

Great hospitality from the staff. Went above and beyond, by driving us to pick up a car. A super place to stay.

The dock staff were very helpful with assisting us with docking our sailboat. The bathrooms and showers were cleaned often and well maintained. The weber grills were great for our BBQ needs and the picnic area is a nice amenity for our sailing club.

Super clean (5) shower/restrooms around the pool area, Weber grills on all docks, super shaded picnic pavilion on the water to hang out, great pool, excellent dock hands who could not have been nicer, and the Outrigger restaurant for 3 + meals was amazing. We didn't even want to go to town! Great Job Stratford Brewers Safe Harbor!

The dock staff was great helping us get our 43’ sailboat tied up in strong cross winds and a heavy current. The ships store staff helped us retrieve some digital installation instructions for our new ice box compressor and helped us properly recycle the old one. We had guests join us at the Outrigger Restaurant for dinner, the food and service was great... lobster mac and cheese as well as soft shell crabs were amazing. WIFI was solid, showers were very clean and comfortable.

Steve was great at customer service and he made the effort to work us in when he was pretty full with transients. "A" dock left a little something to be desired, particularly on the approach, very, very shallow -come in on a rising tide or with some water under you. Stratford doesn't offer much but we did get our laundry done in a very good facility

It was very nice but they kick you out at 11am which is to early then other places. And if you are over by a minute they charge you. Then keep charging you minute by minute. Get's expensive. Which is was the old Brewers...

What a wonderful marina with such hospitable staff and management. Josh went out of his way to try to accommodate us after we needed to change our arrival date several times due to engine work. Steve drove us to the store and picked up a supply at West Marine for us.

Marina condition was very nice and clean. Good amenities. Staff was good and willing to provide assistance. Permanent slip holders were friendly and offered information. Marina rules are a bit stringent. If you exceed the 11AM checkout they will charge $10 hour afterward and a $20 dollar key deposit was high. The key did not open the bathroom as promised.It only opened the gate. There was no discount on fuel. All in all we would go back. It was much better before they got purchased / aquired by safe Harbor. Here's a great suggestion since you can't check in until 1pm you should have to leave before then. Other Marina's don't kick you out early or exorbitantly charge you. We will be back. The Captain.

Avoid this Brewer's. I am a repeat Brewer's customer. This year, I stayed in Branford and Stratford. The dock hands at Stratford are great. The Manager HORRIBLE. After arriving at 3pm, I was told they had to "straighten out returning bathroom keys" before I could get one. Two and a half hours later, the staff still could not give us and the other boat we were with a bathroom/pool key because the manager, Rod, had not dealt with them yet. They had tried to raise him on the radio but he had told them specifically not to bother him because he was busy. After 2 and a half hours, Rod released the wrong keys to the bathroom/pool area. They didn't work. My wife became involved and was with the crew when they contacted Rod again to say he'd given us the wrong key. He berated them over the radio, saying things you shouldn't say to any employee, in my wife's presence. She is a manager herself, and went with the dock hand to get the correct key from Rod. His apology was that he had 100's of things to do that day and his apology for showing disrespect to his employees was that he didn't know she was there when he berated his workers. I overheard this encounter. A lousy excuse on so many levels. One, what customer should wait for 2 and a half hours for a bathroom key, cause the manager doesn't know how to delegate. Two, the correct apology for abusing employees is not "I'm sorry you overheard" but "I shouldn't have done it." We shall avoid Brewer's Stratford and suggest you do too. The others are far better managed.

The dock staff were excellent but the management made our stay there less than ideal. It took 2 hours to get a key to access the bathrooms, showers , and pool. We had to actively persue the staff for a key only to find out that management was responsible for the delay in obtaining a key. In fact we overheard management on the radio state that servicing us was not a priority. We will not stay here again.

This marina is excellent! They were quick to respond to my reservation request as well as answer any questions before arrival. Dock master Steve couldn't have been more accommodating. He keeps clean, organized docks and communicates well. At the marine store, Josh went out of his way to assist with a problem and relieve my concerns. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this marina!!

Brewers Marinas are always great and the staff Is helpful. It is very relaxing in their pool after a long hot sail. Had a good time.
