For over 50 years, Oldport Marine has been serving Newport harbor with a variety of services. We offer moorings, launch service, private charters, harbor tours, Diesel engine repairs, Yanmar Diesel parts sales and service, towing, salvage, and more. With our ability to accommodate vessels up to 65', we're thrilled to be your host for your next stay in Newport. Upon arrival, contact us on VHF channel 68, and our dedicated team will be readily available to assist you. Launch service is not included in the cost of the mooring.
Located in the heart of downtown Newport, our moorings are just a short launch ride away from shops, hotels, restaurants, historical Fort Adams and many more sought-after attractions. Our top-notch launch drivers can drop you off within walking distance to the Newport mansions, beaches and museums. While staying with us, you can easily access all that the town of Newport has to offer, or sit back, relax and enjoy the activity of this bustling harbor.

- All moorings are set in their current positions at the direction of the Newport Harbormaster. On the occasion of shifting winds, storm conditions, and/or current and tide changes, vessels may swing and make contact, or mooring anchors may drag. Oldport Marine will not be held responsible for such collisions.
- Renter will be responsible for securing all roller reefing jibs before leaving vessel unattended. Renter will be responsible for insuring that chafing gear is properly located and secured. Oldport Marine does not assume care, custody, or control of Renter's boat or pennant.
- Oldport Marine is not responsible for damage caused by the Renter's Mooring Buoy or adjacent mooring buoys.
- Oldport Marine is not responsible for pennant failure due to chafing.
- It is understood that while Oldport Marine has made every effort to provide a safe mooring, there has been no warranty or representation by Oldport Marine of the fitness of the facilities for the use for which they were designed and intended. The Renter agrees that Oldport Marine is not responsible for any injury or damage, or loss of equipment, to the vessel, lessee or his guests, from whatever cause. The Renter further agrees to save harmless, protect, and indemnify Lessor from and against any and all loss, costs, damage, claims suits, actions at law and judgments, including attorney’s fees, which may arise or grow out of any injury to, or death of, person, damages to property, any other matter or thing, caused by acts of God, fire, windstorm, explosion, flood, burglary, theft, or by any other casualty. Oldport Marine reserves the right at any point to terminate Renter's stay. In the event of storm watches or warnings issued by the National Weather Service with conditions of sustained winds of 50 MPH or higher in Narragansett Bay, Oldport Marine requires owners to remove their vessels from moorings. Our moorings will accommodate up to 65' vessels. Vessels over 65' must call the Newport Harbormaster on VHF ch 16. Launch service is not included in the transient mooring fee. I have stayed there in the past and they have been great. This was the first time I have used dockwa.
We were on a mooring ball for a couple of days. Marina was responsive as we arrived in the harbor and were trying to locate our assigned ball. Very accommodating. Maritime center is a nice amenity for boaters as well as the public dinghy docks.
Great service! Mooring was ready when we arrived. Launch service was a bonus when the wind picked up.

Stayed on one of their moorings in Newport Harbor. Beautiful harbor with cityscape and boats galore. Oldport described the mooring assignment location when we arrived in the harbor and called them on the radio. But to my inexperienced eye, the mooring numbering is unfathomable. After a few minutes of driving around looking for the mooring, and getting in the general area by asking a harbormaster in a boat, Oldport followed up by calling me on the radio and assisted with showing me the mooring with one of their launches. This whole thing only took about 15 minutes. We used their launches a couple of times on the first day of our stay and the operators are very responsive and friendly. The rest of the stay (3 nights) we dinghied to a couple of the Town dinghy docks, when going ashore. Whether dinghy or launch, both work great. I loved mooring here compared to a noisy slip at a busy marina.
We loved our stay in Newport on a mooring at Oldport Marine services. Launch service was great, very Quick to respond and we never waited long at the dock when returning to our boat. Bannisters Wharf is right there, very dog friendly, easy access to restaurants and shopping. Will definitely return!
Their moorings are in a great location between the dinghy docks at the Newport Maritime Center and Perotti Park. If you don't want to use your dinghy their launch dock is between Bannister's Wharf and The Moorings restaurant so your always just minutes away from the heart of Newport. Best of all is you can reserve in advance now that they're on Dockwa!!

It's just a mooring ball. No facilities, no launch included. They don't supply any information about facilities in Newport unless you call and ask. It would have been helpful if they told us about the marine center at Ann Street and we didn't have to discover it on our last day there. You would think a Newport maritime business would be more helpful to cruisers.

Oldport was very easy to work with. We arrived early & they were able to accommodate us quickly. Also, whenever we needed a ride, they were quick to pick us up or drop us off. The office also communicated well regarding this process & gave contact info if anything else was needed.
Easy process from start to finish, finding the ball was simple, and pick up / drop off was prompt. Only complaint was one of the launch drivers (day shift) was extremely arrogant to one of my guests regarding the tip received, telling her he should be paid more than a bartender for his work. Mind you it was $10 for $8 in rides, and we were less than a minute from the launch dock.
Oldport Marine is always very helpful directing us to the assigned mooring. The launch drivers do an excellent job making sure we find the correct mooring.
We've used Oldport for mooring stays for several years now. They recognize us and would accommodate us as best they could with their first come/first serve policy. With Dockwa, we can now make reservations...this is GREAT and this past weeks visit was terrific. We've already made future plans and will in the coming seasons.! UPDATE: another wonderful '23 Labor Day Wkend with Oldport! Thanks again!!! Update-UPDATE: another great '24 Memorial Day wkend! They ordered/supplied great weather for us right up to the pea-soup fog Monday morning...haha. Only Kidding!! Same Great Service...just hope they will continue to fit us in!! But we are booked for next Labor Day already!! Keep up the great service!!! Update 15-Aug wknd: we were able to grab a mooring last minute! THanks Again!! 5+ stars!
It’s Newport, so you get a mooring and that’s it. Facilities and launch are all paid for separately. I think the Oldport website would be improved if it included information about facilities (showers, laundry, etc) at the Maritime Center. Not everyone has been here before.
Very easy place to stay. Launch drivers were good and friendly. The pump out boat was also quick, clean and efficient. Plenty to do. Showers at Maritime were clean and well maintained.
Exceptional service, quick & professional response on VHF68, strong mooring with chafe guard, and ideal location. Reservation on Dockwa was easy, efficient, and very convenient to know we have a mooring ball available. The Oldport Launch is also well-worth the extra dollars to shuttle luggage & provisions. Every staff we interacted with had a great, professional personality. Shoutout to Sam driving the launch TANGO who was super patient while we loaded/unloaded a zillion duffel bags & groceries. Highly recommend this mooring service in Newport.
We love Newport and have had great experiences in the past. Launch drivers are great. However, We were assigned a mooring outside of the Old Port Mooring field with launch service only once per hour. We should have been advised in advance as this adversely affected our onshore plans.

The moorings are close to town and there are dinghy docks not far away where you can leave your dinghy when ashore.

Always a great experience with all the staff and tender operators. One suggestion: the moorings are getting pretty dirty and it's hard to see the numbers. Need a good cleaning half way through the season. Can't wait for next season.

We arrived on a Monday for 3 nights and noticed available old port moorings near the yachting center where we usually pick one up. We were put way out on a private mooring near the fishing docks. I called the launch and requested a move because we had to attend a wake in town that evening only to be told they were all booked. Needless to say we were soaked and salty by the time we got to the Ann Street pier. During our stay those moorings we’re never occupied and I don’t understand why a move couldn’t have happened. We endured the smell of fish bait and fortunately the weather was perfect after the wind died down so we could cruise in the dingy for the rest of our stay. Can’t say I wasn’t disappointed with the mooring though.

Hailed on 68 when we arrived and they showed us the mooring location. No facilities but very responsive shuttles to get you ashore if you don't want to use your dinghy. Newport is always a little bit of a loud zoo (well into in the night) in the summer but that's part of the attraction I guess.
Beware of wedding parties and a loud band on the dock. They play til 11 pm!! Great if you like to stay up! Loudest mooring we have ever stayed on.

Mark at Oldport was extremely helpful in sorting out my reservation hiccup, which in all fairness was most likely my fault from misspelling my boat's name Remedy with an n vice m. They are adjacent on the keyboard. Good customer service is an asset to any business and that's what we got.

Slightly misleading, they only mention that launch service and amenities are pay to play after you've checked in. The launch operator didn't even tell us until he dropped us off. We would've just taken the dinghy if we knew. Just a few bucks but feeling deceived and the principal bothered me.
Great that advanced reservations are now possible. Note the marina details show where their rental morning field is, but we were assigned to a mooring that was literally on the opposite side of the harbor. Much further that we thought we’d be, from town, but still a good time.
